The Mission of the NBPTS is:
• To establish high and rigorous standards for what teachers should know and be able to do.
• To develop and operate a national, voluntary system to assess and certify teachers who meet those standards.
• To advance related education reforms to improve student learning.

Hold a bachelor’s degree.
Hold a valid state teaching license.
Have taught a minimum of three years, while holding a valid license.

How Much Time Do I Have?
• Process must be completed in one school year. Due date depends on completed registration date.
• Accomplished scores (2.75 or higher) can be “banked” for two years.
• Advanced candidates may retake any entry which was not accomplished.
