Notes:● Establishing shots of a wet and dark landscape to show the location to the audience

but also helps to describe the mood of the drama as it is set in a dark location. ● Wide shot that moves to a close up to show the character that is important that this

character is important to the story and the fact that he has a son aged 13 means something.

● As he enters the house the lighting is low giving a sense that the character is in a dark place in his life.

● With a extreme close up on the characters face it shows that he is not happy with the news he knows but with his words he has found something but isn't happy or overjoyed with it.

● As the car doesn't start, the camera slowly zooms in on the mother and her son who are sat in the back of the car

● The sound then goes high pitched indenting that something has happened because of where they are.

● The scene cuts from where he is happy with his wife and son in the room, and then is cut to when Tony is at his lowest and is broken because he has lost his son in that country.

● The story is cut away from Tony and then the audience meets a new characters that are some what connected to the story with Tony. However not everyone is pleased with him being back in the area as he is causing a problem

Page 2: The Missing

● The audience learns that Tony’s marriage fell apart because of his son going missing and that his ex-wife is remarrying. This is told by the the scene of which the audience sees her with her new finance.

● Flashbacks of Tony and his family in France that leads up to his son going missing only heightens the drama by showing how much Tony has lost because of his son going missing.

● With the camera following Tony and his son though the crowd of football fans you see how easily his son is lost. By following Ollie as he is in the crowd and then as the people surround him the camera loses him

● With no sound and only a high pitch noise as Tony and locals start to look for Ollie.● With a pan of the area it shows the locals and the police reacting to Ollie’s parents

wanting to find their son.● That the police station, the audience is introduced to the police officer that Tony meet

with early about his drunken behaviour.● The camera slowly zooms in on Tony’s face as dialog is spoken over of him

explaining what happened. This is done to show that he is broken about what happened and cannot deal with the fact that his son has gone missing when he was looking after him. He blames himself even though his wife tells him that she doesn't blame him.

● The wide shot of France celebrating a football win, it sets the feeling that he is alone and cut off from the world because of what is happening in his world.

● From the train station scene it is cut back to the future where Tony meets with the character we met before when the police rang him about Tony

● Information is given to the audience about how the papers thought. That Tony might have killed his son, this could be a reason for the marriage breaking down but also gives hints that something happened in the case (information given in a shot rev shot style at a bar)

● By showing scenes of the police road blocks it shows type the audience the type of tools that the police have put in place to try to find Ollie.

● The conversation between Tony and his wife’s father indicates that something might have happened between those two in the past. And that might have something to do with what has happened but it is not clear

● The way that the camera follows Ollie’s parents as they chase who they think is Ollie however turns out to be the son of the British Police Officer that has been assigned to their case by the British Government. (Allows happens in cases abroad)

● The different lighting shows the two different world that of which Tony and his ex-wife is living. Tony’s world is dark and haunted by his past and his ex-wife world is brighter and she is moving on with her life however at times her world can become dark with low lighting to show that she is still haunted by the past.

● The conversation between Miss Hughes and the journalist gives the feeling that she doesn't want to speak to her ex-husband.

● The sound is increased with tension as Tony is given the news that his son was brought to a house and the music continues as he heads down to the basement which is lit with grainy lighting

● The shock is clear on his face as Tony finds a pencil drawing on the wall that is similar to what Ollie drew of him. This with the lighting and sound it adds the tension to the final scene of the episode. By keeping lighting dark it heightens the mood of the drama.
