The Middle Ages: Lesson 1

Consider the picture below. Create three questions you have about the picture, especially considering the following:

• After the fall of the Roman Empire, Europe had no capital. • The land was divided into many, small kingdoms. This era was called the Medieval Era. • Tens of thousands of castles were built throughout Europe.

Also, as you form these three questions, consider “GREASES” categories: Government, Religion, Economics, Art & Architecture, Science & Technology, Environment, and Social & Cultural Values.

Now, consider the essential question for p. 1 in “Explore”: How did the fall of Rome impact Europe? In the space below, as you read this first page, and explore its resources, answer this question in a 1-2 sentence summary.

Now, create a word web, using the Adobe document attached to today’s agenda on my World History tab of my website, and create a word web describing feudalism. In order to do this, click on the word “feudalism” near the top, read the overview, watch the video resources, and then click on and explore the primary source. That’s it for today! J
