WOW! What a great show at the O�shore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas this past May! It was great meeting all those who stopped by our booth. Everyone got to play the boat game and take home one of our boat pens; one lucky winner even won an iPad. How cool!

In addition the show was an excellent opportunity for attendees to gain knowledge about all of our o�shore products available with a hands on presentation by our knowledgeable sales team.

Everyone was able to get a taste of the World Wide Metric experience and see the passionate people behind our products. If you missed us this year, don’t worry we are coming back to OTC next year.

The Race To Zero DollarsIs buying a lower-priced product the answer to cutting costs and tightening budgets? Not always. There are times when the race to zero dollars can windup backfiring and costing consumers more than they originally thought. It's like finding a potential short cut on a trail you walk every day. Do you take it, not knowing the safety of the path ahead, whether it might lead to a sheer cliff or simply a dead end that will force you to turn around? Or do you follow the trail that you know that will smoothly and safely get you to your destination?

This is where truly financially savvy consumers strive. Investing a little more initially on products that are going to stand the test of time can actually go a long way in keeping costs down and helping get the most out of your dollars. Consider a high-end product like a Wouter Witzel Butterfly Valve that seems more expensive up front, but is produced by a reputable company with history in the industry. Then consider its cheaper counterparts; butterfly valves of potentially inferior quality that may not last as long, which can end up costing double when factoring in the costs that accompany replacement parts, labor, and mainte-nance. Compromising quality and service to keep short-term expenses down may just result in much higher long-term costs. Where are the savings if production keeps getting interrupted to make repairs and replace the same piece of the system over and over again? It may seem intuitive to avoid top-of-the-line products to save a few dollars off today's bill, but it also opens up more potential pitfalls in the race to zero dollars.
