Special Worship Services in NovemberAll Saints Sunday
Sunday, November 6, 11:00 AMAll Saints Sunday is the church’s Memorial Day. It is a time to remember those who have died in Christ. All Saints Day pulls together important Christian themes: the work of resurrection grace in all of God’s people; the devotion and discipline needed in the life obedient to God; the connectedness of all believers; the hope of life beyond death. On All Saints Day we celebrate the good news of the gospel that God is always working to transform simple, ordinary folk into saints.During our worship service, everyone will be invited to come forward and light a candle in memory of a loved one, a “saint.” We will also ring chimes and have roses in memory of all church members who have passed away this year: J.K. Sherron, Mirra Smith, Allen Rakes, Dorothy Green, Davena Rice, Helen Simmons, and Doyle Sims. We hope you will join us and remember individuals God has used in our lives to bless us!
Commitment SundaySunday, November 13, 11:00 AM
After a church baby shower in October, one member commented how “well” we had done for the family. She was right. The shower was a beautiful event and an example of the way that we take care of each other as a church. Attend worship on Sunday, November 13 and you will hear from three dedicated church members who will be sharing with us why they love and support the ministries of Millbrook. They will tell us how Millbrook has been a loving encouragement to them. We will certainly be inspired by their stories as we hear the ways that God’s love has been active. Then, we will have an opportunity to offer our commitment cards to God. Our cards will state our 2017 pledges. Begin prayerfully considering now how you will support your church, her ministries and missions, and each other in the upcoming year. May God guide us to give generously and may God help us keep our commitments.
Interfaith Community Thanksgiving Service

A monetary offering will be received to help refugee families through the Brown Bag/Abundance Ministry of St. Philip Lutheran and non-perishable food items will be donated to the Food Pantry at Millbrook United Methodist.

Music Ministry - by Patti LingafeLt
HYMN SPOTLIGHT: #366—O God, Beyond All PraisingThe choir will sing an anthem setting of "O God, Beyond All Praising" on November 20. The text was written by Michael Perry (1942-1996), a clergyman in the Church of England, in 1982. The words are appropriate for Christ the King Sunday as well as Thanksgiving which follows later in the week. I hope you will take time to read the words over the course of the month. The tune for the hymn, THAXTED, is based on a theme from Jupiter in Gustav Holst’s "The Planets." Holst adapted the orchestral theme for a patriotic song in 1921; Ralph Vaughan Williams included it as a hymn tune in Songs of Praise (1926).Listen for an organ voluntary based on THAXTED each of the Sundays in November, leading up to the choral arrangement on Nov. 20. As always, to God alone be the glory!
Christmas Program Practice for Children and Youth by Rebecca Hewitt-newson
To make this the best program it can be, practice is essential! Please take note of the times that children and youth need to be present to practice in order to participate in this year’s program.YOUTH practices will continue during the Sunday School hour and after church from 12:15-1:00 pm. If you wish to participate, please make every effort to be here each Sunday. CHILDREN (K-5) will rehearse music with Ms. Patti during Children’s Choir at 9:00 am each Sunday and if they would like a short speaking role will need to attend a special meeting with Pastor Rebecca in November (Date TBA).DRESS REHEARSAL will take place on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 10. Youth practice: 3-6 pm Children (K-5): 3-4:30 pmPRESCHOOLERS do not need to attend any special practices. They will work on their song and practice with costumes with Ms. Patti during the Sunday School hour over the next 6 weeks. Preschoolers need to arrive at church the night of the program by 4 pm. We look forward to this fun celebration of the season!

November Cook’s Kornor - by angie HooMani
We will have only four Wednesday Night Dinners in November. We will celebrate two important occasions for our country this month, Veterans’ Day and Thanksgiving. We will begin the month with Chicken Parmesan on the 2nd. On the 9th we will recognize our veterans and serve them Roast Pork then celebrate with our Church Thanksgiving dinner of Turkey & Dressing with all the fixings on the 16th. We will not have dinner during the week of Thanksgiving. We will end the month on the 30th with Roast Beef.At this time of the year we need to be thankful for our many blessings. I am especially thankful for all the Kitchen Angels who have come to the rescue and continued to cook the Wednesday Night Dinners during my recuperation from surgery. I hope to be able to return for the Thanksgiving Dinner if not
before. Thank you also to all of you for your well wishes and for pitching in with desserts and clean up. I hope you will all find time during the holidays to spend time with family & friends. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Backpack Buddies by MeLanie Mattox The Thanksgiving holiday is approaching. Many of our memories of the season are associated with food. For many families in our community having enough food is not assured on a daily basis. We can help provide basic food needs for these families with a donation to Backpack Buddies. Food donations and monetary donations are important. I count the food donations and then use the monetary donations to fill in the holes. Remember, each backpack contains 2 cans of meat, 2 cans of vegetables, 1 can of fruit, 2 juice boxes, 3 boxes of milk, 2 noodles, 2 breakfast items, and 2 snacks. When there is a long holiday break, I try to include a few extra items. Date for the next collection is November 13.Thank you for your caring, giving spirit.
Labyrinth Committee by LesLie RatLif The labyrinth has been painted, the sidewalks around it power washed, and benches stained and sealed! If you have not taken a look, the Committee invites you to do so.The Committee is also working to improve the forlorn area in and around the Jesus statue. That area was a focus of the work during the October 29 Labyrinth Gardening Day.The annual candlelight AIDS Remembrance Walk is scheduled for the evening of December 1, 2016. Please mark your calendars.

Millbrook Baptist Preschool by Suzanne Holleman
Scholastic Book FairMBP will have a Scholastic book fair November 14th to November 18th. The room across from the director's office will be set up with books from Scholastic for you to purchase. It is an awesome opportunity for you to buy books for Christmas, birthday gifts, or to add to your own collection at home. We do get a portion of the sales. All proceeds will go directly back into our library in the classroom and in the one for all classes to use upstairs. We will have the room open for shopping from 9:10-10 AM each morning during November 14th to November18th and during the Wednesday meal on November 16th.
Gift of TimeOn December 3rd the parents of Millbrook Baptist Church and Preschool are invited to enjoy the Gift of Time - a ministry provided by the combined efforts of Millbrook Baptist Church and Preschool. We want to give MBC and MBP parents/grandparents the gift of a few hours free as their children enjoy a meaningful morning of fun. In the past we have invited children ages Birth - 5th grade to participate. A donation of $7 per child (with a family limit of $20) is requested to go towards the expense of running the program. If you are interested in volunteering, please let Brianna Johnston know. We try to get
at least one teacher/teacher assistant from the Preschool for each age group so that the children are more familiar with the person here on that day. The preschool teacher working that day will then have a volunteer from the church to help them for the day. We do limit the attendance for event based on the number of volunteers and preschool staff. The children will bring a bag lunch, snack, and water bottle.
Warmth TreeMillbrook Baptist Preschool will be participating in the Salvation Army Christmas Stocking Service Project again this year. Each of our families will receive a stocking to fill. They will be purchasing gifts of their child's age to fill the stocking and then our children will place them under the church's Christmas tree on December 7th during our special Chapel service. Our staff will be delivering the stockings to the Salvation Army. If you would like to participate, please see Suzanne Holleman, the Preschool Director. Suzanne will give them out with directions at the Wednesday night Meal on November 16th. The stockings must be turned by December 6th. You may leave them in the church office.
Family Fun DayMBP had our Family Fun Day on Friday, October 14th. It was an amazing day. We were so blessed to have beautiful weather. We had so much fun! Parents, grandparents, staff and children enjoyed the day. The parents and/or grandparents stayed for the day to play with the children. We had a bounce house, bikes,
bubbles, parachute play, imagination creation station, obstacle course, tattoos, face painting, balloon toss, and playground activates. The parents and children moved to each station as a class so they were able to interact with other families in their child's class room. Our goal and hope this year was that the families would start to get to know each other at the beginning of the year instead of the end of the year. This is why we switched our field day from the spring to the fall. We will have a spring fling on April 23rd that will be very similar to our fall festival.
Wednesday Fellowship Meal Reservations If you have a permanent reservation, please make sure you cancel if you can’t attend. Additional reservations should be made by noon on Tuesday.
Quarterly Business Meeting Please attend the November 16th meeting at 6:30 pm to vote on the 2017.

Letters to MBC Dear Millbrook Family, The delay in written words in no way lessens my appreciation for the care and support you shared with me during my surgery and recovery. The gifts of food and furniture, cards, calls and visits, chauffeur services, the abundance of thoughts and prayers, and so many other touches mean far more than words alone can express. I am deeply thankful for each of you and the ministry of MBC in my life. Thank you! “Every time I think of you—(and I think of you often!)—I thank God for you…” 1 Cor. 1:4 Carolyn McClendon
Dear Millbrook, Man! You guys sure know how to make a girl feel loved. You all have spoiled me! Thank you so much for warm meals, filling my mailbox with get-well cards, numerous calls, and your continued prayers. I am so thankful for each of you! Katelyn McWhorter
Dear Millbrook Family, Grateful does not even begin to cover it. We are so overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and gifts shared with us at our baby shower. Even Atticus felt included and special at the party, and we are so thankful for that. A special thank you to the Women's & Hostess Committees for their work in cooking, decorating, and everything that made it such a special event. We feel so loved and we hope you know how much we love and cherish each of you. The Newson Family - Ryan, Rebecca, Atticus, & Baby Boy 2
