Senior Pastor’s Message “Remembering”

In the busyness of life during the holiday season from Thanksgiving to Christmas,

time seems to fly by faster and faster. It becomes difficult to catch our breath as we go

from one event to the next trying to fit everything in our schedule because we don’t want to miss

anything. However, we do miss something. We miss the reason for the season. We miss what all the

lights, presents, and decorations represent. The birth of God’s only Son, Jesus, through a virgin

birth that brings light to a dark world. The Word of God made flesh to live among us to show us

how to love God and others as much as we love ourselves.

This Advent and Christmas will be different for many families including my own. Even before

Christmas, we will celebrate Hannah Faith’s 1st birthday as she is with Jesus in heaven. We will

remember the miracle of her birth and her journey of faith through the power of prayers. We will

remember what God did and how our lives will be forever changed. I believe this is similar to what

Mary and Joseph felt remembering the birth of Jesus. Mary remembering the crucifixion and

resurrection of Jesus. The Community Blue Christmas Service on Sunday, Dec. 23rd @4pm in the

Chapel will help us feel God’s love as we walk through this journey together.

As you prepare your hearts this Advent Season, remember those who we are missing their

loved ones and remember that Jesus is the Light of the world offering us all HOPE, LOVE, JOY, &

PEACE. May we all take time to share this same hope, love, joy, and peace with others that might

need to be reminded the reason for the season. You can’t have salvation without the crucifixion just

like you can’t have Easter without Christmas. The birth of Jesus is the beginning that leads us to the

gift of eternal life, where we look forward to seeing our loved ones again.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

Last year our UMW participated in the “Little Hats,

Big Hearts™” program for the American Heart Association.

Our UMW crocheted and knitted 42 adorable red hats for babies born

in February at participating hospitals. Little Hats, Big Hearts™

honors babies and moms in a very special way. These tiny red hats,

on thousands of babies, symbolize the shared mission of heart-

healthy lives for everyone. The effort also raises awareness of

congenital heart defects, and what we can all do to help prevent

them. If you like to knit or crochet, we would appreciate your talents

this year to help reach our goal of 50 red baby hats. If you can’t knit

or crochet, you can help by donating red yarn. Thank you for always

being there to help our mission to reach out to women, children, and

youth in our community, country, and world.

Mount Holly Community Concert Choir: We host the practices and performances of this seasonal adult choir (16 years old and up). It is led by our own Jeff Ingle and meets in our sanctuary from September through December, culminating in two performances, accompanied by a full orchestra and given on the first Saturday in December. Proceeds from the concerts benefit Mount Holly’s C.R.O. (Community Relief Organization). Sing-cerely and Godspeed,
