The Mercy of Allah (God) in the Engineering Design of the Human
Body

Introduction:
If we ponder upon verse 7 of chapter 41 of the Quran which states: (Those
(angels) who bear the Throne and those around it glorify the praises of their
Lord, and believe in Him, and ask forgiveness for those who believe: "Our
Lord! You encompassed everything in mercy and knowledge, so
forgive those who repent and follow Your Way, and save them from the
torment of the blazing Fire) we find that the angles describe Allah (God) that
He encompassed everything in mercy and knowledge, and if we reflect upon
this description we notice that the angles put the word mercy before
knowledge and keeping in mind that the sequence of words in the Quran
indicates the time sequence of events, which means that the mercy of Allah
(God) proceeded His knowledge.
This means that when Allah (God) wants to create a creature then mercy
requirements are the engineering specifications for this creature and I will
demonstrate this with the following examples taken from the mercy of Allah
(God) in His design of the human body.
The mercy and knowledge of Allah (God) in the design of human bones:
When Allah (God) wanted to create the framework (human skeletal system
shown in figure (1)) which will handle the forces acting on the human body
during physiological functioning His mercy requires that this framework
should be as light as possible such that there would be minimum effort during
movement, and also that the skeletal system would not self-load itself
(meaning that no stress are generated on bone due to its own weight). These
are some of the mercy requirements for the human skeletal system.

Figure (1): The design of Allah (God) for the human skeletal system (Bone is a ceramic material).
The knowledge of Allah (God) now comes to materialize these mercy
requirements, such that we find that Allah (God) created human bones from a
ceramic material as stated in the Quran in verse 14 of chapter 55: (Created
humans from clay like that used in pottery), and knowing that one main
characteristic of a ceramic material is having low weight and large stiffness
which ensures minimum energy generation from skeletal muscles during
functioning. So we notice brothers and sisters that the creation of Allah (God)
is based on mercy (i.e. it is an engineering design based on mercy
specifications) so glory be to Allah (God) The most compassionate The most
merciful.
The mercy and knowledge of Allah (God) in the design of the human brain:
When Allah (God) wanted to create the human brain His mercy requires that
there is rapid transfer of heat from the brain such that there is no
accumulation of heat within it, since the brain produces heat when it
functions as a result of the flow of ionic currents within it (like the flow of an

electric current within a conductor). And if heat accumulates in the brain then
there would be pain and discomfort during functioning.
The knowledge of Allah (God) comes to show this mercy requirement in the
creation of the human brain by creating folds within it (as shown in figure
(2)), such that these folds increase the surface area of the brain and thus
increasing the heat transferred from the brain and as such there is no
accumulation of heat within it, which results in no pain. Figure (3) shows two
equations used to describe heat transfer from the brain.
Figure (2): The design of Allah (God) for the human brain (Folds are seen).

Figure (3): Equations describing heat transfer in the human brain.
The mercy and knowledge of Allah (God) in the design of the human foot:
When Allah (God) decreed for the human foot to be created then the mercy
requires that minimum effort should be produced from muscles during
walking to eliminate the pain and fatigue experienced by muscles.
The knowledge of Allah (God) showed this mercy requirement in the fact that
He created the human foot in an arc like structure as shown in figure (4).
Such that this design stores mechanical energy when a person starts walking
by pressing down on the foot (like a spring), and when a person wants to lift
his foot then this stored energy is released and pushes the foot upward
thereby reducing the energy needed to be generated by muscles involved in
walking for lifting the leg. This results in maximum comfort and no fatigue for
the muscles involved in walking.

Figure (5) shows the equations describing this storage and release of
mechanical energy in the foot.
Figure (4): The design of Allah (God) for the human foot (arc like design is noticed).

Figure (5): Equations describing storage and release of mechanical energy in the foot.
The mercy and knowledge of Allah (God) in the design of joints:
When Allah (God) wanted to create the joints of the human body, which are
the places where two bones meet then the mercy requires that there is no
pain when flexing the joint and that there is no risk of skin tearing at these
locations.
The knowledge of Allah (God) comes to show this mercy requirement in the
fact that He created additional skin material at the joints by creating folds of
skin at these locations as shown in figure (6). These folds increase the length
of skin at the joints thereby reducing the strain generated when flexing the

joints which in turn reduces the stress at these locations, and as a result of
this there is no pain when flexing the joints and there is maximum comfort.
Figure (6): The design of Allah (God) for the joints in the human body (skin folds are noticed).
Figure (7): Equations describing strain and stress in the skin at the joints when they are flexed.

We notice brothers and sisters the mercy of Allah (God) in every aspect of our
body and how that His creation is an engineering design based on mercy
requirements. This testifies to the truthfulness of the words of Allah (God) in
verse 34 of chapter 14 of the Quran which states: (And He gave you of all
that you asked for, and if you count the Blessings of Allah (God), never will
you be able to count them. Verily! man is indeed an extreme wrong-doer, a
disbeliever) and also we now know why Allah (God) started His book (i.e. The
Quran) with the words: (In the name of Allah (God) The most compassionate
The most merciful).
