and with that they have undergone major changes!!!
Those that have completed recordbooks in the past you are encouraged to attend the training on Tuesday, April 17th
Those who have never completed a recordbook you are encouraged to

What is…Share the Fun? An individual or group entry that will allow a 4‐H member to express their creativity. Share the Fun Divisions and a brief description: Poetry/Prose—Acts which showcase poetry or prose are required. This category does not require 4‐H related material, however, if an original poem or prose piece showcasing 4‐H is written, this would be acceptable. Every 4‐H member entered in the category must be a part of the performance on stage. Defining Poetry and Prose: Poetry is generally characterized by structured meter and rhyme that tells a story or provides a message to the reader. Prose is distinguished from poetry by its greater variety of rhythm and its closer resemblance to the patterns of everyday speech. Another description might be an excerpt from a larger piece such as a play or book. Vocal—Vocal presentation may be done a cappella, with an accompaniment tape, or with an adult accompanist. Participants in vocal may not play a musical instrument. Performance is based strictly on vocal talent.
Musical/Band—Musical presentation may be musical instruments accompanied by background tape or an adult accompanist playing a musical instrument. Band presentation may include vocal performance. No lip sync will be permitted in the category. Choreographed Routines—The act requires choreography and can be demonstrated through twirling, pom‐pom squad routines, jump rope teams, basketball dribbling exhibitions, or dance (jazz, tap, country & western, ballroom, etc.) . Celebrate 4-H—May be a 4‐H based story line, promoting 4‐H, community service, a project or activity . This category may also address a specific youth issue, current event or world affair and present ways in which this issue can be addressed. May incorporate music, vocal selections, and/or choreographed routines but these aspects cannot be more than half of the performance. Skits can be humorous and creative.
What is …. An Educational Presentation? A 4‐H educational presentation is a demonstration of your knowledge and skills in a certain project area. This presentation is done in a way that is most comfortable to you. It can be accomplished using props (method demonstration), posters or media presentations (illustrated talk), or it can be you just speaking and convincing, or simply educating, with words alone (public speaking). An educational presentation is a great way to increase your public speaking skills. It provides you with the opportunity to get up in front of a group of other 4‐H members or adults and showcase your knowledge. Along with helping develop great public speaking skills, it provides you with self‐confidence, organizational skills, and the ability to successfully relay a message. Public Speaking—Individual presents a 5‐to‐7 minute talk suitable as a platform speech or radio broadcast. Props and visual aids are not permitted and recordings of any type may not be used. Contestants should be prepared to answer questions concerning the subject matter of their presentation. Also at Round up Horse Quiz Bowl and Beef Quiz Bowl contest are conducted. Benefits to participating? * Meet new friends * Teach others * Learn how to talk in front of a group * Having FUN! * Gain Leadership * Great Recordbook opportunity * Work as a team * Scholarships * Go to District contest and possibly State 4‐H Round‐Up
County Roundup is scheduled for Thursday, April 19th (Share the Fun/Educational Presentations/Public Speaking)
Registration Forms and information about the contest and what roundup is, is posted at
http://mclennan.agrilife.org/files/2011/08/Roundup12.pdf County Roundup is a great opportunity for all 4-H members to give a

“Deep in the Heart" reveals the true-life story of
Mr. Richard "Dick" Wallrath. No one
person has ever given more financially to the Texas 4-H and Texas FFA Scholarship
Programs than Dick Wallrath. He has also provided tremendous financial assistance to 4-H and FFA members through
major livestock show premium auctions.
We sincerely request that 4-H Family support this
emotion-packed documentary of Dick's life
for two reasons. First, it could have an impact on
your own life. And secondly, because of Mr.
Wallrath’s continued generosity, a portion of all ticket sales will go to both Texas 4-H and Texas FFA
to further strengthen their much
needed scholarship programs.
Go and Watch it at
any Texas Cinemark Theater The success of this opening
weekend will dictate the plan for nationwide release.
Of course, the more success the movie has, the more funds are contributed
to Texas 4-H and Texas FFA.

offers something for everyone! The conference will kick‐off the evening of

variety of educational workshops offered all day Saturday and Sunday
morning.
Request for Workshop Proposals
The Volunteer Conference
Committee invites volunteers, County Extension Agents and Specialists to
submit a proposal to present a workshop. Share with other volunteers the success you have had with your 4‐H club, project group or community service projects. Any topic
will work!
The deadline to submit workshop proposals is
February 15th. To submit go to the volunteer conference
website.
Registration Scholarships
The Texas 4‐H Foundation will, once again, sponsor
scholarships for volunteers to attend the conference. The scholarships will cover half of the conference registration fee (to be determined). An online application will be made available soon!
Why Should You Attend This Year's Conference?

We hope you'll make plans to attend this year's conference. More information and updates are available on the Volunteer Conference Website.
This is the best thing Texas 4-H has to offer. I would encourage every 4-H’er who 15 year old or older to attend. I will be serving as an adult
chaperone so transport to and from will be taken care of. So start saving now for registration which will open in May.
