KKK aka Ku Klux KlanFounded on 1866

Parades and marches denouncing

immigrants, Catholics, Jews, blacks

and organized labor.A group including many

former Confederate veterans

founded the first branch of

the Ku Klux Klan as a social

club in Pulaski, Tennessee, in

1866.

By 1870, the Ku Klux Klan

had branches in nearly every

southern state Local Klan members–often

wearing masks and dressed in the

organization's signature long

white robes and hoods

In 1915, white Protestant

nativists organized a revival of

the Ku Klux Klan near Atlanta,

Georgia

More than 40 different Klan groups exist, many having multiple chapters, or “klaverns,” with a combined strength of members and associates that may total around 5,000.

prize.King was assassinated on April 4,

1968, in Memphis, Tennessee

HE HAD A DREAMMartin Luther King Jr. made a speech called “I Have A Dream.” It was delivered on August 28th 1963.

“I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I

have a dream today.”

The Native American MovementThe American Indian Movement is

a Native American organization established in the United States.

Due to the diversity in North America, Native American's or

Indians are too often forgotten.

This movement was launched in 1969 in Minneapolis, MN.

Dennis Banks, Clyde Bellecourt,

Eddie Benton Banai, and George

Mitchell started this movement.Rights wanted:economic independence, revitalization of traditional culture, protection of legal rights, and, most especially, autonomy over tribal areas and the restoration of lands that they believed had been illegally seized

Today’s AIMToday, there are several reservations, and Indians

are eligible to receive government funds to built

homes, schools, and maintain their community.

Abuse and prejudice against the Indians has decreased

and there are also programs in place to help Native

Americans immerse themselves in American

culture.

NJ STATE LAWS ON DISCRIMINATION The New Jersey Law Against

Discrimination (LAD) makes it unlawful to subject people to

differential treatment based on race, creed, color, national origin, nationality, ancestry, age, sex

(including pregnancy), familial status, marital status, domestic

partnership or civil union status, affectional or sexual orientation, gender identity or expression,

atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, genetic information, liability for military service, and mental or

physical disability, perceived disability, and AIDS and HIV status.

Discrimination LawsThe LAD prohibits

unlawful discrimination in employment, housing,

places of public accommodation, credit and business contracts. Not all of the foregoing

prohibited bases for discrimination are

protected in all of these areas of activity.

Failure to obey these laws can result in a $1 million lawsuit
