The manufacturing of the AstroTurf Jeb Bush campaign - Arlington Conservative Self-defeating GOP leadership promotes Jeb Bush as their candidate for the nomination Potential president candidates like Ted Cruz, Scott Walker and Rand Paul have very real and substantial grass roots support across the country from voters in the Republican base. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush has very little support of that kind, so his well-funded and GOP establishment supported campaign is entirely made of "AstroTurf ." In this context, "AstroTurf" is a description of campaign efforts, almost entirely organized by paid staff and other methods secured by spending money rather inspiring volunteer activists, to gain support for a candidate or cause. The Republican establishment, who have quietly anointed Jeb Bush as their candidate, and the liberal media, who seem to believe Bush is the ideal GOP nominee because he would lose to Hillary Clinton in 2016, have joined forces to entirely manufacture the Jeb Bush campaign entirely out of AstroTurf. The latest instance of this is form yesterday's news, where CNN reports that, "Jeb Bush narrowly leads the 2016 Republican field of presidential contenders in New Hampshire, a new poll has found - but also has major problems to overcome with general election voters." That's the perfect narrative for the liberal media to "report," or to put it in plain English, the Republicans are going to nominate a weak candidate who will surely lose the general election in 2016 to former secretary of state Hillary Clinton. That's what the "mainstream" media actually wants to happen, so in hopes of making that happen, they simply "report" that is what's happening, even if they need to use skewed polls to do it. The survey reported by CNN is a Bloomberg Politics/Saint Anselm Poll of New Hampshire voters. The result of that polls show Jeb Bush with only 16 percent, with Rand Paul at 13 percent, Scott Walker at 12 percent, Chris Christie at 10 percent, while Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee and Marco Rubio each polled at 5 percent. The most interesting question, at the end of the poll , is also the one that proves that Jeb Bush has little real support in his campaign for the presidency. Voters where asked, "When it comes to Jeb Bush, do you think the strength of his potential candidacy is based more on his unique qualities and achievements, or his family connections to politics?" Most said the latter; 59 percent of Republican primary voters and 78 percent of Democratic primary voters cited "family connections to politics" as the primary strength of the Jeb Bush candidacy. In other words, a very solid bipartisan majority think Bush is running on his name and only has a chance for that reason. Or, in the words of Edward J. McCormack, Jr. who ran against one Edward Moore Kennedy aka Ted Kennedy for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts in 1962, "if your name was Edward Moore and not Edward Moore Kennedy, your candidacy would be a joke." Jeb Bush's candidacy for president is a joke. He has no significant grass roots support as a candidate for president. Ted Cruz, Scott Walker and Rand Paul have won a number of straw polls and candidate polls at conferences like CPAC and others. Jeb Bush has won no such polls or surveys among GOP activists. Jeb Bush is out of step with most GOP voters on major issues like ObamaCare repeal, common core education deform, and illegal immigration and amnesty. Jeb Bush agrees with

  • Hillary on those issues more than he does with GOP voters.

Jeb Bush and his few well-connected supporters seem to think Jeb Bush can win the nominationwithout the support of the Republican base in the primaries and then win the general election bysounding like an echo of Hillary Clinton. This coming election will be a real test of whetherRepublican voters really do choose the nominee or a manufactured AstroTurf campaign orchestratedby the GOP establishment and the liberal media will choose the eventual nominee. The real reasonthey want Jeb Bush nominated is to make it much more likely Hillary Clinton is the next president.
