LOOKING BACK, LOOKING FORWARD
With so much happening at our port, first quarter of this year flew by too fast. Of all the events organised, the most noteworthy and personally for me most satisfying was Startrek. This annual congregation of all our group
companies, a dream project of mine, was catapulted into a different orbit this year with the kind support of our Managing Director Sri Sasidhar.
I always believed that an ever-growing and vibrant organisation like Krishnapatnam Port should focus on building human capital and nurture the entrepreneurial qualities to build the leaders and prepare them for future. With this objective in mind, in 2017 the first edition of StarTrek took off at the port. This year when Managing Director decided to hold the second edition in Dubai, the entire event has taken a different spin and ended as the most fruitful, enjoyable and memorable event. You will read more about this two-day extravaganza which has seen a series of serious presentations, interactions among group companies, site visits and lots of fun. This exercise has undoubtedly ignited the spirits of both participants and non-participants.
Another significant development is commencement of Navayuga World School, yet another noble and passionate initiative of our Managing Director. This school will herald a new era in education with integrated curriculum to empower each child to maximise his/her potential.
From bringing this first ship after 18 months of laying foundation to building the largest breakwaters, Our Chairman’s vision was turned into reality by our Managing Director Sri Sasidhar Chinta, making this as the largest gateway port on the east coast of India in the shortest time. We have spent the past 10 years with a focused, well designed plan to grow, adding infrastructure ahead of demand, setting innovative business practices, improving the service quality and creating livelihoods for the communities around. We take pride in not only creating a vibrant regional economy, but also in contributing to the state’s and nation’s economy.
While we certainly enjoyed what we have accomplished, we thrive in the excitement of moving forward and seeing all our employees, customers and stakeholders enjoy what we’re creating. We don’t often take time to reflect on how far we have come. Once one project is complete, there is always something new to tackle.
It is indeed a fulfilling journey of 10 years to be part of a Port that redefined India’s maritime landscape!
Best wishes,
ANIL YENDLURIDirector & CEO

CONTRIBUTION TO KERALA RELIEF FUND
NAVAYUGA CONTAINER TERMINAL CROSSES 500,000 TEU MILESTONE
Kerala was severely affected by floods last year.
During the month of August 2018, the state of Kerala suffered its worst monsoon flooding in a century, with more than one million people displaced, and more than 400 reported deaths in two weeks time. Aid agencies and government groups had set up more than 4,000 relief camps, while rescue personnel made their way to submerged villages in helicopters and boats, bringing supplies, and evacuating those they can find. Weeks of heavy rainfall had caused dams to open their floodgates, triggered landslides in the mountains, and swamped the coastal regions of Kerala. We, the employees of Krishnapatnam Port and Associate Companies thought of extending a small helping hand towards Kerala.
A Demand Draft of `25,00,000/- was presented to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala Shri P. Vijayan towards “KERALA CM DISTRESS RELIEF FUND”. This amount was donated by our employees and we are thankful to all.
Navayuga Container Terminal (NCT) reached an important milestone on
27th March 2019, by handling 500,000 TEU for the first time in a Financial Year 18-19. The half-millionth TEU was handled on vessel M.V. SSL Kutch.
NCT witnessed stellar volume growth of almost 9-fold increase in the 5-year period starting from a modest 58,577 TEUs in FY 2013-14.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Anil Yendluri, Director & CEO, Krishnapatnam Port Co. Ltd. said, “NCT has taken giant strides in getting established as a Transshipment Hub on the East Coast of India and we are working towards making it the Hub port in the Bay of Bengal.”
Draft being handed over to the Hon’le Chief Minister of Kerala – Shri P Vijayan by our Dy General Manager (HR) – Mr Anurag Mishra & Mr Rajeev R on September 28, 2018.
With the objective of creating awareness of NCT’s commitment
to the Hyderabad Trade and its successful run of weekly train service between ‘ICD Sanathnagar’ and ‘Krishnapatnam Port’, NCT had organised a joint meeting with CONCOR in Hyderabad.
Mr Azhar Shams, Group General Manager (International Marketing), Mr Ravi, Chief General Manager, CONCOR, addressed the queries of the shippers/liners and assured the trade that CONCOR will be running a weekly rail from ‘ICD SNF’ to NCT irrespective of the volumes.
NCT is the closest terminal to ICD Sanathnagar and the CONCOR rail tariff to Krishnapatnam is lower than ICD SNF to JNPT. Customers will benefit from lower cost and faster transit to Krishnapatnam.
As Maersk has a direct eastbound product as well as the Salalah shuttle deployed at NCT and other East bound (China) services are provided by ZIM & Hyundai, many Hyd Shippers are keen to use NCT.
The meeting evoked a positive response from the trade.
NCT FOR EAST BOUND CARGO

Mr. Jithendra Nimmagadda, Chief Operating Officer, NCT commented “Reaching this milestone would not have been possible without the strong partnerships forged with Shipping Lines wherein by working together we assure the speed, transparency, and fluidity our Shippers have come to expect from NCT.” He further added, “We are further expanding our terminal capacity from 1.2 Million TEUs to 2 Million TEUs by the end of 2019 to be ahead of the demand.”
Commenting on this milestone, Ms. Vinita Venkatesh, Director, NCT said “This milestone paves the way to achieve One million TEUs in the near future by providing customer-centric services”.

Volume Surges
he global container shipping company, Maersk Line, was quick to take up this new initiative and began
transshipping its containers from China / Korea / Far East at Krishnapatnam for final destination Kolkata and Haldia. Other liners followed suit and soon Hyundai Merchant Marine, Zim / Goldstar, SCI and many NVOCCs began transshipment operations at Krishnapatnam.
Shreyas Shipping was encouraged by the response and expanded its range of services and is today running no less than 3 feeder loops from NCT (Navayuga Container Terminal) at Krishnapatnam to connect with Kolkata, Haldia, Vizag, Pradeep, Kakinada, Tuticorin on the East coast as well as Cochin, Mangalore, Mundra, Kandla, Hazira and Nhava Sheva on the west coast. With this network, Shreyas Shipping and NCT can provide transhipment services to mainline vessels calling at Krishnapatnam.
The pioneering initiative of waiver of cabotage restrictions on exim cargo along the Indian coast, at once opened to foreign flag operators the opportunity to ply their vessels between two Indian ports, facilitating transhipment
operations. The decision of the Govt of India to waive cabotage restrictions has added a fillip to the transhipment volume handled by NCT, Krishnapatnam Port.
NCT at Krishnapatnam Port was the first terminal on the east coast of India chosen by the foreign flag carrier Xpress Feeders of Singapore to deploy a transhipment feeder under the new relaxed regime for transhipment. Xpress now operates 3 vessels from NCT to Kolkata which are specially made to suit the low water depth at Kolkata port.
All the transhipment feeders together offer 5 feeder services per week at NCT, Krishnapatnam. Due to this, transhipment volume at the terminal has grown steadily from 13000 TEUs average transhipment volume per month in the first quarter of current financial year to 17, 200 TEUs by second quarter, and in the third quarter to an average of 21,300 TEUs per month. In the month of January 2019 the transhipment volumes were 25,362 TEUs the transhipment volume at NCT, Krishnapatnam accounts for 55.13 pct of total throughput which is the industry norm for transhipment cargo handling ports in the south east asia region.
In keeping with the exim trade’s increasing clamour for Indian cargoes to be handled at Indian ports instead of being transshipped at the neighbouring ports of Colombo, Singapore, Port Kelang, etc, Krishnapatnam Port has been offering shipping lines efficient transshipment services since 2017.
In response to the trade need for transhipment facilities, Krishnapatnam port extended its quay length at the container terminal by 150 m to provide an exclusive coastal berth where coastal vessels can berth without window timings and use the ship’s gear to load / discharge in addition to the handling by the shore -based MHC.
Going forward, the port has announced a total extended quay length of 900m with 3 new SPP quay cranes, thus bringing the total number of QCs to 8. The expansion will be complete by the 4th quarter of 2018-19. With the enhanced infrastructure, the terminal capacity will increase from the current 1.2m TEU to a capacity of 2m TEU.
Although the current volume at NCT, Krishnapatnam is at 0.6m TEU and sufficient capacity for growth is already available, the decision to invest additional CAPEX ahead of demand is with the objective of ensuring that sufficient quay length and handling infrastructure is available for the numerous mainline services and coastal feeder operators looking to hub transhipment operations at NCT, Krishnapatnam.

TRANSSHIPMENT
wagon loading system is devised for fast and efficient loading of the material
into the waiting wagons. Wagon loading system is a critical point in the value chain of the operations, and as such there is no room for downtime as this can lead to significant revenue loss. This system is designed to load safely, efficiently and accurately while maximising the use of the capacity in each wagon.
Rapid wagon loading system is a mechanised system which discharges coal into wagons when the train is in motion. The rake of wagons is hauled at a uniform creep speed of 0.67 km/hr below the wagon loading station by means of a diesel loco, during the loading operation. The method of discharge into the wagons is through a swing chute, with which the feed rate and discharge angle can be adjusted.
The system is capable of loading a rake of 59 wagons
in One Hour. Each wagon in the rake can be loaded up to a pay load of 67 T. Therefore, the total rake can be loaded up to a capacity of ~3900T.
In addition to the Automatic Wagon Loading Station, the following allied infrastructure have also been successfully commissioned.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Recently commissioned Automatic Rapid Wagon Loading System at port will make loading fast and efficient.
HOW DOES IT WORK?The Cargo, essentially coal in this context, is received through Vessels and is unloaded by means of two Ship Unloaders at Berth 7/8. Each Ship Unloader can unload at a maximum capacity of 2000 Tonnes per hour. Therefore, effectively, coal is unloaded from the vessel at 4000 Tonnes per hour. These Ship Unloaders in turn feed the unloaded coal into a mechanised stream of belt conveyors.
The belt conveyors carry cargo at 4000 tons per hour as received from the Ship Unloaders. The conveyed coal is then stacked in coal stockpiles through use of stacker-cum-reclaimers or by-passed and is discharged into coal silos. The total capacity of the stockpiles is 0.75 million metric tonnes.
Coal is reclaimed from the stockpiles by means of Stacker cum Reclaimers or Reclaimers or both each with reclaiming capacity of 2500 Tonnes per Hour. The conveyors after the stockpiles can convey the reclaimed coal at a rate of 5000 Tonnes per hour. The reclaimed coal is then fed into silos of capacity 2500 T. There are two such silos, both connected to the conveyor network. Below each Silo lies the rapid wagon loading system which discharges coal into a moving rake.
ZERD WNTIME!
ADVANTAGES OF AWLS
Loading Operation is much faster. A complete rake (~3900 T) can be loaded in 1 hr.
Better accuracy and uniform loading.
Dust nuisance is substantially reduced.
Reduced number of operators and attendants for loading the rake.
Operating cost when compared to conventional handling of wagons will be approx. 60% lesser.
• 3.75 km length of conveyor system of 4000 TPH
• One stacker cum reclaimer of 4000 TPH stacking & 2500 TPH reclaiming
• One reclaimer of 2500 TPH
• Stock yard of 0.75 million metric tonnes capacity.
11PORTFOLIO / MAY 2019
Q. How was the year 2018-19, compared to previous year?
Our growth rate has been quite substantial in the current financial year. Vijayawada division is doing very well and caters to two important ports – Krishnapatnam Port and Kakinada Port. Last year we did 13.452 million tonnes and this year we did 20.521 million tonnes, which indicates more than 50 per cent growth in terms of physical volumes. Even in earnings our growth is almost 58 per cent. Last year from April to October period, in freight business we earned `1,435 crores and this year we have earned `2,269 crores, during the same period. This is spectacular growth facilitated by Krishnapatnam Port’s growing volumes. One of the customers operating a steel plant has increased the imports of iron ore and coal through Krishnapatnam Port. Through coastal shipping we are getting coal which moves by rail-sea-rail route. Coal is coming from Mahanadi Coal Fields through Paradip to
Krishnapatnam Port and we are feeding Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd that has two plants – one at Kurthiri and other at Raichur. We also have a APGENCO plant getting its coal at Krishnapatnam Port.
The fertilizer imports are also continuing through Krishnapatnam Port. Though Krishnapatnam Port is trying to improve their containerised trade, but the rail bound volumes of container traffic at the port is yet to pick up substantially.
At Kakinada Port we are increasing our trade business, essentially it is imported coal for industrial users in Odisha and two other hinterland states. We are also handling other industrial cargo like Gypsum and Bauxite at Kakinada Port. Very good growth in fertilizer imports through this port has been recorded. These have been the reasons for spectacular growth in trade business of Vijayawada division.

Q. In terms of rake movement how was the business performance?
We have improved our mobility across the division substantially. Compared to last year we are handling more than 50 per cent growth in terms of originating loading, plus we also have 5-10 per cent growth depending on the months in terms of transit freight movement. We are able to handle both because we have upgraded our infrastructure and we have also improved our operational protocols. The line capacity is one of the major constraints of the Indian railways, so we have improved line capacity in critical locations by bringing in some improvements in signalling and by debottlenecking some of the congested yards like Vijayawada. This has helped us in improving the mobility across the division. We have also improved certain operational protocols like we have rationalised the train operations by rationalising some of our day-to-day operational
practices – reducing the speed restrictions and improving the track maintenance. These things have helped us in a substantial way in handling increase in originating traffic and also increase in transit traffic. In terms of operational efficiency we have got certain set of parameters and all of these parameters have shown healthy improvement this year.
Q. Do you face any challenges in this division and what are your plans to overcome them?
We have brought in some improvements which are able to cater to year-on-year growth in near future. We also have plans on how to handle growth in business both in terms of freight and passengers in the long-term. In this regard some projects are already sanctioned and works have started. For instance, on the Vijayawada to Gudur route, third line development is in progress and major yard remodelling work is also in progress at Gudur. These developments will decongest Gudur junction.
Then RVNL through Krishnapatnam Rail Company Ltd is constructing a 95 km new line from Venkatachalam to Obulavaripalli. Once this is completed cargo originating or destined to Krishnapatnam will sail 60 km of tranship distance, as compared to the present route via Gudur. We hope this new route will be operational by March 2019 and will be able to handle the expected growth in trade business at Krishnapatnam. The third line from Gudur to Krishna Canal Junction is another game changer as it adds capacity to important routes connecting key hinterlands. We will debottleneck Gudur yard in the next couple of months and these things will help us handle more business in this area. This is not only for traffic originating at Krishnapatnam Port but also for the transit traffic we are handling.
We are also doubling and electrifying Vijayawada, Gudiwada, Bhimawaram, Narsapuram, Machlipatnam – the entire branch line of 220km, with the help of RVNL. They will start commissioning in phases, starting from this financial year itself and by 2021 or 2022 the project will be accomplished. Once this is done we will be getting an alternative route from Vijayawada to Nidvanda. We can either run the trains Eluru, Tadepalligudem, or we can go via Gudiwada, Bhimavaram branch. This will also cater to the anticipated growth in freight activity as a result of construction of Machilipatnam Port in future, as Machilipatnam is currently a single line section.
The capacity to handle more trains will go up substantially once this doubling and electrification happens. There are plans for adding a third line from
Vijayawada to Visakhapatnam route as well, perhaps in the years to come that will also materialise depending upon the sanctioning of the project. On the Vijayawada to Warangal and Kazipet route also works for third line are in progress. That means the entire north-south route, i.e., Gudur, Vijayawada to Warangal and Warangal to balharshah, the entire route will get tripled in phases. So the capacity will go up substantially.
Line on Vijayawada to Guntur is already doubled and electrified. From Vijayawada towards Rayalaseema area, Guntur to Guntakal route electrification is complete and will soon be doubled. Guntur to Secunderabad via Nadipudi route is being electrified. Guntur Tenali single line electrified route is being doubled.
Q. What is your experience with Krishnapatnam Port? How do you see it perform in terms of management and cargo handling?
Krishnapatnam is a growing port with immense potential for growth and they are quite good in getting traffic from their customers. They have been doing pretty well in attracting new businesses and retaining existing businesses. Going by the way they are operating we see lot of potential for the port in the years to come. Since the issues with hinterland connectivity by rail have been resolved by way of anticipated commissioning of this new line from Venkatachalam to Obulavaripalli. This will add substantially to the advantages of the port, because it is going to reduce the rail distance by about 60 km between Krishnapatnam Port and its prime hinterland locations. I am sure it will improve the cost advantage of the port further.

India’s dependence on liquid bulk cargoes is forecasted to increase in the next five years, particularly petroleum, oils, edible oils and other
petrochemicals. With increase in liquid bulk volumes, liquid bulk trade will be a significant contributor to the Customs and Port revenues. Given the enormous volume, the country requires mammoth infrastructure at sea and land to keep the economy well oiled. Krishnapatnam Liquid
Cargo Terminal will be bridging this infrastructure gap.

lobal oil trade routes are moving East, as China and India replace the United States as top
oil importers. When it comes to consumption of petroleum products, India is an oil guzzling nation, and the country’s per capita consumption is only next to the US, EU and China.
With a Y-o-Y growth of 5.3 per cent in FY2017-18, and as high as 11.6 per
cent in FY2015-16, the demand is not going to subside any time soon. India fulfils almost all of its crude oil requirement through imports, and with consumption of 4.14 million barrels per day, its share is more than 4 per cent of the total world consumption and is the second largest importer of oil in the world after China.

LIQUID CARGO
While the majority of oil refining capacity, and oil and LNG imports are located on the west coast but many of them are fast aging leading to slower discharge resulting in congestion and delays.
Significant increase in bulk chemical (including petrochemical) trade has placed substantial pressure on port infrastructure which lacks capacity, including for storage. Utilisation rates for infrastructure in major ports (mainly storage) is 80-90 per cent as opposed to a more normal 50-70 per cent. There is a need for additional capacity. In general, this includes specialist berths which usually have far lower utilisation rates and specialised handling equipment and storage. The major gap is integrated berth and storage capacity, and this gap is often caused as the owner and operator of the storage are different. Chemicals and specialty chemicals are particularly affected.
Moreover, in a bid to ensure energy security, national gas grids are under execution at various locations, and doubling of pipeline network from 15,000km to 30,000km is under implementation. While western parts of India have made significant progress in piped gas distribution, the next wave of growth in consumption will be from the east, south and northern parts of India.
However, sufficient infrastructure is still not available on either coasts of India to handle, store and distribute liquid cargo. Bridging this infrastructure gap is the Krishnapatnam Liquid Cargo Terminal, equipped with dedicated berths that have sufficient draft to handle Panamax size vessels and beyond. In fact, 873 acres out of 6800 acres of port area is earmarked for liquid business portfolio and additional land will be allocated for liquid storage based on demand. The terminal has exclusive liquid storage facilities within 5 km access to the jetties with excellent road and rail connectivity. To further streamline liquid cargo movement, the port has planned 2 dedicated rail sidings for liquid cargo in addition to the 16 existing full length rail sidings with access to CTOs for rake placement and without any congestion.

PROJECT CARGO: WIND MILL BLADES
he wind energy industry is booming. Thanks to global efforts to combat climate change, such as the Paris Agreement, renewable energy
is seeing a boom in growth, with wind energy leading the way. From 2000 to 2015, cumulative wind capacity around the world increased from 17,000 megawatts to more than 430,000 megawatts. In 2015, China also surpassed the EU in the number of installed wind turbines and continues to lead installation efforts.
Latin America, and Africa and the Middle East experienced fastest growth in installed capacity during 2018, at 20.1% and 52.3%, respectively, due to their small installed base. Asia is responsible for 58% of the total capacity growth in 2018. The Government of India has released its roadmap to achieve 175 GW capacity in renewable energy by 2022, which includes 100 GW of solar power and 60 GW of wind

power. Electricity demand in the country has increased rapidly and is expected to rise further in the years to come. In order to meet the increasing demand for electricity in the country, massive addition to the installed generating capacity is required. In May 2018, India ranked 4th in the Asia Pacific region out of 25 nations on an index that measures their overall power.
Acconia and Siemens Gamesa are the two leading players in the windmill energy domain. Both the companies have been exporting windmill blades through Krishnapatnam port. Siemens Gamesa has grown to be a global leader in offshore power generation offering full-scope solutions and services. One of Siemens Gamesa’s biggest advantages is that they are successfully engaged in all areas of the wind power business globally – Onshore, Offshore and Service. In offshore, Siemens Gamesa is the number one player in the market, with the largest installed base and the
largest order book in the industry, with more than 70% of market share. All this is backed by validated and recognized products, with more than 35 years of experience and over 83 GW installed across the globe.
ACCIONA Energy on the other hand is the biggest global energy company operating exclusively in the renewable energy sector, present in over 20 countries on five continents. It works significantly with five technologies: wind, solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, hydroelectricity and biomass.
Wind mill blades are massive in size structures thus requiring lot of care during their transportation and handling. A complete survey is done ahead of the arrival of cargo to ensure no obstacles for movement of cargo. All the concerned stake holders in the port engage their key resources for this activity. Security personnel of port escort the vehicle carrying windmill blades until it reaches the jetty /storage space.
Krishnapatnam Port is equipped to handle Over dimensional project cargoes of all sizes and types. The port has an advantage due to its strategic location, which helps in easy import and export of such huge cargo.

Fly ash is a fine powder that is a byproduct of burning pulverised coal in electric generation power plants. Fly ash is a pozzolan, a substance containing aluminous and siliceous material that forms cement in the presence of water. When mixed with lime and water, fly ash forms a compound similar to Portland cement. This makes fly ash suitable as a prime material in blended cement, mosaic tiles, and hollow blocks, among other building materials. When used in concrete mixes, fly ash improves

the strength and segregation of the concrete and makes it easier to pump.
The power projects in the vicinity of Krishnapatnam Port, APGENCO and TPCIL produce lot of fly ash which can be used as raw-material for cement. Sensing this opportunity, in 2018 Penna Cement had set up a 2.0 million tonnes per annum capacity fly ash-based cement grinding station at Krishnapatnam Port. Apart from the strategic location of the port, the port-based logistics infrastructure is another factor for this move.
The location is advantageous for ease of distribution with access to the coastal markets in east and west India including Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Cochin, Pune and Mumbai.
With an investment of `250 crores, this unit was set up in an area of 6.08 ha. The unit is located approximately 270 kms from Talaricheruvu, 287 kms from Boyareddypalli and 322 kms from Ganeshpahad which are Penna’s integrated manufacturing facilities.
Primarily there are two types of cements namely Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC). OPC, produced mainly by grinding
clinker and gypsum, is manufactured in two varieties at Penna Cement plants. This Premium OPC 53 Grade Cement is used for pre-cast concrete items such as paving blocks, tiles and building blocks, pre-stressed concrete components and major construction projects with special requirements such as bridges, runways, high-rise buildings and concrete roads.
Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) is a special blended cement as per BIS specification, IS: 1489, and is produced by inter-grinding Ordinary Portland Cement clinker with high quality processed fly ash along with gypsum. Due to its inherent characteristics, PPC aids in creating corrosion resistant concrete that is far superior to concrete made with OPC. The use of blended cement in concrete reduces crack formation, improves workability, inhibits sulphate attacks and reduces the heat of hydration.
Clinker is transported by railway wagons or trucks from major clinkerisation units of MHIL situated near to the grinding unit and also from the clinkerisation units of Penna Cements in Tadipatri, in Andhra Pradesh. For this grinding unit annually 0.60 Million Tonnes of fly
ash is required which is being sourced from the nearby power plants of TPCIL/APGENCO. Gypsum requirement per annum is about 0.10 Million Tonnes and is sourced form Coromandel Fertilizers, Vishakapatnam 1330 Mts of gypsum supplied by Abja Power is moved by Vishwasamudra Shipping from south yard to Penna plant using port logistics.
Resource Optimisation/Recycling and Reuse:
Since the plant is manufacturing blended cement, there is substantial reduction in use of clinker in the cement which leads to savings of 1.0 MTPA of Limestone. The 80m3 of water consumed every day is sourced from port. Another interesting feature of this plant is that no solid waste is generated except some waste water which is about 8m3 Per day and the same is treated through septic tank and soak pits.
When it comes to transportation logistics, currently one vessel MV.PENNA SURAKSHA owned by Penna is being used to transport cement in bulk for its coastal movement. Penna Cements has plans to purchase five vessels with each vessel at a cost of `145 Crores.
30 Bulkers are readily deployed for loading the cargo on to the vessel.
Four Bulkers can operate simultaneously loading cargo via hose pipes with each bulker loading at 24 Minutes. Each bulker capacity is 40 Tonnes. Complete loading of the vessel takes about 8 Days.
WB2 is the dedicated berth to Penna Cements. As the entire activity from vessel loading to interacting being taken care by Penna Cements there are very minimal port operational issues including security issues while gate in & Out of bulkers when procuring fly ash from APGENCO/ TPCIL.
Since the plant is making blended cement, substantial reduction in clinker consumption in the cement in turn saves 1.0 MTPA of Limestone.

NEW ERA OF INTELLIGENT PORTIn the broadest sense, the term IoT encompasses everything connected to the internet, but it is increasingly being used to define objects that “talk” to each other. Simply, the Internet of Things is made up of devices – from simple sensors to smartphones and wearables – connected together.
TECH TALK

y combining these connected devices with automated systems, it is possible to “gather information, analyse
it and create an action” to help someone with a particular task, or learn from a process. It’s about networks, it’s about devices, and it’s about data.
IoT architecture varies from solution to solution, based on the type of solution which we intend to build. IoT as a technology majorly consists of four main components, over which an architecture is framed.
• Sensors
• Devices
• Gateway
• Cloud
The following is the basic 4 Stage Architecture of IoT example:
Many industries and businesses are struggling to grasp the possibilities of data-driven technology, but companies
in transport and logistics (T&L) are way ahead. By their very nature, the logistics providers that move objects by air, sea and on land have distributed networks which rely upon receiving rapid information to make decisions. So, logistics sector was quick to realise the benefits of sensors and networks and made a transition to the connected world.
With the advent of mobile technologies and the Internet of Things (IoT), enterprises can accelerate productivity, profitability and operations with solutions designed for specific processes. With the right IoT solution, enterprises can connect all devices across a centralized cloud network, and capture and share their mission-critical data which in turn allows them to gain real-time visibility of their operations.
How do you adopt IoT?
Business needs drive IoT applications
Deploying and expanding IoT capabilities requires more than just

technological breakthroughs—making a system work requires not only an understanding of the industry dynamics but also a strategic approach to the Information Value Loop.
Recommendations to ship smarter, not harder
Transportation and logistics industry players may have different goals and ambitions for IoT technology. Depending on their business strengths and strategic focus, the scope of the solution that is needed can vary widely. As scope varies, so do the difficulty of implementation and the potential benefit from IoT applications.
So while the IoT has revolutionized technology and how work gets done, the fundamentals of business strategy remain constant. As with any strategy, companies must define a goal, choose the business need that the goal will address, develop a solution, and build an action plan to implement that solution.

Centralized Wi-Fi for internet users
Multiple ISPs and centralized Wi-Fi access points were created to provide internet facility to mobiles, laptops and tablets for port employees
as well as to guests with multiple ISPs and centralized Wi-Fi access points in different location. This allows allocation/deallocation of user sessions if required.
These hard-hitting technologies have transformed Krishnapatnam Port into Smart Port
TRANSFORMERS
in order to sustain profitability and viability.
However, to reach this level of performance, they need to make end-to-end improvements. Complete visibility facilitates more effective, timely decisions and reduces delays through quicker detection of issues.
Mobile devices, such as radio frequency identification (RFID), barcode scanners and mobile computers, have become a major influence in supply chain visibility and operations. Many transportation and logistics companies using RFID
today are reaching nearly 100 percent shipping and receiving accuracy, 99.5 percent inventory accuracy, 30 percent faster order processing and 30 percent reduction in labour costs.
Mobile technologies provide businesses line of sight into equipment, inventory and business processes. This asset intelligence allows organizations to increase their efficiency by providing them real-time data across their entire supply chain.
II. Warehouse and Yard Management
The warehouse and/or yard are at the core of transportation and logistics businesses. Their efficiency directly impacts the cost of doing business and the ability to compete. With IoT-enabled mobile devices designed to track inventory data, equipment and vehicles, enterprises can give their physical assets a digital voice.
By converting the physical to digital, transportation and logistics warehouses can capture and share their mission-critical data across the cloud, ensuring they have the right products in the right place at the right time.
By reducing human intervention and enabling more machine-to-machine information sharing, enterprises can greatly increase efficiency and accuracy.
III. Fleet Management
When it comes to transportation and logistics, fleet management plays a critical role in managing maintenance schedules, everyday vehicle usage and service routes. In order to maximize productivity and operational efficiency, fleet downtime must be minimized. With mobile scanners, computers and RFID systems alone, enterprises can gain visibility into their assets and better streamline operations to keep their fleet moving.
Advances in mobile technology and the IoT are dramatically improving the way transportation and logistics businesses operate. The Enterprise Asset Intelligence delivered through these solutions is what enables organizations to pinpoint inefficiencies in real time, improving throughput and helping them build progressive plans to move toward innovation.
Many businesses have already discovered the advantages of using mobile technologies; however, the unpredictable nature of fuel costs, rising labour rates, increased traffic and a changing regulatory environment, continue to make operations challenging.
Inefficiencies caused by a lack of visibility create considerable costs.
As industry regulations force transportation and logistics organizations to do more with less, profitability is threatened. However, with visibility into personnel, equipment and transactions, enterprises can better support peak operations in real time - improving operational efficiency and performance.
Such actionable insight is what provides organizations the Enterprise Asset Intelligence they need to make improvements. This enhanced business knowledge can be gained through a set of enabling technologies in the areas of asset management, cloud, mobile and Big Data.
By leveraging Enterprise Asset Intelligence, transportation and logistics can dramatically improve the following areas:
I. End-to-End Visibility
Transportation and logistics businesses around the globe are focused on maximizing supply chain efficiency

NECL managing director Chinta Sridhar said that they are now making plans to break their own record by gunning for a 60,000 to 80,000 cubic metres continuous pour feat in
March 2019. AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu challenged the managers to achieve a record of 65,000 cubic metres by March.
Rishi Nath, official adjudicator, Guinness World Records, announced the two records set and described them as complex and big in scale.
“The feat will be a big morale-booster for the company and AP and is a significant step towards delivering the Polavaram project before the start of the monsoon season,” Sridhar said, pointing out that the spillway will have one of the highest discharge capacities in the world at 5 million cusecs, surpassing China’s 3 Gorges Dam that is one of the largest in the world with a discharge capacity of 4.7 million cusecs.
According to him, NECL will complete the spillway, spill channel and the two coffer dams by June 2019 and the total Rs 3,400 crore worth of work awarded to NECL at 2015 rates, including the earth-cum-rock filled dam, will be ready by March-April 2020.
The Polavaram mega project, which has been declared as a national project, will have 48 gates, each 90m high and 16m wide and will span 1.19km. It will require 36.7 lakh cubic metres of concrete, 50,000 tonnes of steel and 9,30,000 tonnes of cement. The project, which will have a 119 TMC water reservoir capacity, is expected to irrigate 42 lakh acres ayacut in two phases and supply water to all 13 districts of AP.

BRIDGING THE GAP
34 PORTFOLIO / MAY 2019
After a series of CCEA decisions regarding revival of FCIL, the Cabinet decided to revive Ramagundam Unit on ‘nomination basis’ by a consortium. In January 2015, Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCI) formed a joint venture with two other public sector undertakings, namely National Fertilizers (NFL) and Engineers India (EIL), to revive the The Ramagundam fertiliser plant at a cost of `5,600 crore.
A gas-based project, RFCL would produce 11.20 lakh tons of urea per annum.
NFL and EIL each hold 26 per cent interest in the JV, while FCIL will hold 11 per cent.
Eco-industrial development is a new paradigm for achieving excellence in business and environmental performance. The RFCL fertilizer plant facilities have been designed taking into account all applicable standards/ norms both for regulatory and safety purpose.
• It will have ETP of approximately 300 M3

In order to bridge the increasing gap between domestic production and demand of urea, Government of India, on the
recommendations of Board of Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises (BRPSE) in 2007-08, decided to revive the closed fertilizer units of FCIL and Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Limited (HFCL).
The Ramagundam fertiliser plant is in the Karimnagar District, which is located approximately 240km from the city of Hyderabad. Formerly owned by Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCIL), the plant was closed down in April 1999 due to technological and financial issues.
• The RFCL complex is designed to have 2200 MTPD Ammonia Plant by state-of-the art Steam Reforming process of Natural Gas on Process License of HTAS-Denmark and 3850MTPD single stream Urea Plant, Process Licensed by Saipem-Italy. And when you start believing in yourself, I think you don’t need many people.

When Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister went to Japan, he had to introduce himself as “I am from the state
where Krishnapatnam Port is located.” This is the type of transformation that has been brought by the port, by the Navayuga Group and our MD, Mr Sasidhar, because
of the self-belief we have. From being a port we have evolved into a container terminal and further developed
into a large supply chain conglomerate. This growth is just the beginning of a very big thing that is going to
happen. Today, Navayuga Container Terminal is the fastest growing terminal in India, creating a lot of new business
opportunities and wealth for the state. This year Navayuga Container Terminal paid 7000 crores in tax revenue.

I get inspired by Dubai because about 44 years ago there was nothing here and today you see everything here. Krishnapatnam Port when I first saw it was all like Dubai – sand dunes. But one advantage we have is better weather. I used to tell some fishermen groups to convince them, I am going to make this place like Dubai someday, but they never believed me, but I used to have that dream. Dreams have so much power, this is what I am saying to you all – “Dare to dream.”
We never dreamed of all these companies which we have formed, but today you all are like a great strength to me. You have developed these companies and now you need to dream more and try to make these companies the best ones in India or the Fortune 500 companies in the world.

In addition to this, the women can look at Navyatha Production Centre as an employment option. Now around 60 women are working on regular basis on 42 machines. While some of the trained women work at the production centre, others work from home. The production centre accepts both bulk and single orders of VIP jackets, aprons and all kinds of uniforms.
So far, this centre produced 11000 units. Last year women were introduced to the system of assembly line stitching to increase the production of each individual. DeservedNavaneeta Public School, the dream project
of our Managing Director Mr C Sasidhar
received CBSE affiliation which indeed
acknowledges the dedication and passion
that was put into this project.
avaneeta Public School is one of the few schools in Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh that focuses on the upliftment
and development of boys and girls from less fortunate backgrounds. Those who, like other children, have the potential to mould the future of the country with some guidance and education.
The local schools often have difficulty in providing the kind of education and environment that would make a significant impact. But at Navaneeta Public School, with our end to end facilities till high school the foundation has been laid to break the cycle of poverty.
NPS came up with a dream of creating a School which would provide World class education facilities along with a healthy and friendly home environment by providing all facilities free of cost thus fulfilling the school’s motto ‘Education, care and dignity’.
was granted CBSE board had run series of checks to ascertain the standards of the school. Officials of CBSE board have inspected the facilities at school like campus area, built up area, area allocated for playground, lab facilities and the quality of class rooms.
Why this affiliation is important?
Central Board of Secondary Education is a very old institution and popular too. The school board is famous for developing and implementing key educational policies in India. It is due to these policies that schools affiliated with CBSE have been able to produce great scholars and alumni in the last so many decades. Over the years CBSE schools have got branded as the best education providers in the secondary and higher secondary levels. The annual results have often showed CBSE schools as performing better than the schools affiliated with other education boards. Though there is no contest that directly puts the board in competition with the others, yet its performance and productivity is ascertained by the alumni who make it to the professional colleges and universities.
CBSE is also responsible for conducting some of the important professional examinations after higher secondary level. The syllabi approved by the board for higher secondary helps students in the coming admission and entrance tests in important institutes.
Getting the affiliation was possible due to the constant efforts of team under the able guidance of our CEO Mr. Anil Yendluri and with strong support and motivation from Managing Director Mr. C. Sasidhar. Now NPS can send the first batch of students to class Xth board exams in 2021.
