FROM THE PASTOR

Dear Members and Friends:

This is an exciting month. We have Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and Easter! We also have our Church

Consultation!

Our Consultation weekend is March 4th

– 6th

. This will be a great time for us to look at the

strengths and gifts of our church and help us to grow God’s kingdom by learning new ways to

plant seeds, nurture growth, and harvest disciples. This will also be a great opportunity for us

to strengthen the weak areas of our church so that we can better make disciples for Jesus

Christ for the transformation of the world.

During our worship services on March 13th

, we will continue our Lenten series with Pastor Steven Molin’s

Journey of Stones. Our worship theme for the day is “Upon This Rock.” Jesus is building His church on the

rock of our faith; therefore, we need to put our faith in Him as both Savior and Lord.

Palm Sunday, March 20th

, we will look at the theme of “Crying Stones.” Pastor Molin

encourages us to never be afraid to share our faith. He reminds us that if we do not praise

Christ, the stones themselves will shout out praise to Him.

For our Maundy Thursday Communion Service (March 24th

), “Stones to Bread” will be our guiding theme.

Jesus has turned the stones of our sin into the bread of life.

“The Final Stone” is the theme for our Good Friday Service (March 25th

). The final stone sealed the tomb of

Jesus. Our stones of sin have separated us from the love of God. The final stone changed the course of human

history as it marked the death of Christ in paying the penalty for our sins.

Easter Sunrise will be a departure from our Journey of Stones. We will see that the events of

Easter happened “Just Like Jesus Said.” Jesus rose from the dead just like He said He would.

We can believe all the promises of Jesus. They will all take place just like Jesus said.

We will continue of Journey of Stones for the regular Easter worship services. We will see that

“He’s Alive!” Jesus is alive, so we are released from the shame of our sins. We are free from

the punishment of God. We are free to be alive! The worship team has a special gift for you to

help you remember that we are free to be alive because Jesus is alive.

Please join us each exciting week as we experience our Church Consultation weekend and as we continue our

Journey of Stones.

Prayerfully yours,

Pastor Harold

THANK YOU! A warm THANK YOU is extended to each person who helped in any way with the Chicken BBQ on Sunday, 2/7: to the cake bakers, the chicken cookers, the prep crew, the servers, the customers, and everyone else who helped make the afternoon successful. When all bills are paid, there should be a profit of about nine hundred dollars. For those who look forward to chicken BBQs, the next one will be Saturday, May 28, for the benefit of the Trinity Trustees.

RECYCLE, REUSE, RE-PURPOSE

Being a responsible steward of God’s blessings is important. Here are some ways you can become a better steward: Trinity’s Clothing Closet - Please donate your unwanted new or gently used clothing of all sizes, children’s toys and books, small household items, and decorative items. Open - Every Saturday from 9 AM until noon and the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 9 AM until noon. Note – There is also a FREE table where you can place assorted unwanted items, such as magazines, household items, books, and other odds & ends. Jacksonville Lion’s Club - Our local Lions Club collects eyeglasses and cases, hearing aids, printer cartridges, hospital equipment, assistive devices (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, shower/tub seats, bedside potty chairs, etc.) If in doubt, ask. Smaller items can be placed in boxes in the church and TFC foyers. Call Dave at 422-8907 for more donation information or to borrow medical aids on a temporary basis. Mission Central - This busy United Methodist facility is in Mechanicsburg and is home to MANY missions within the warehouse and around the world. They accept old cell phones, electronics, large household items, and almost anything else that could possibly be used by others. Give them a call at 766-1533 for specific inquiries. Changing Hands – This equipment exchange and reuse program is run by the United Cerebral Palsy of Central PA. Talk to Jackie Wardle or call 1-800-996-4827 to donate hover lifts, scooters, communication devices, vision aids, and many other items. Also… Save and deposit in the containers at TUMC and TFC for use by schools and Scouts:

THANK YOU! Thanks to everyone who helped with the February take-out Chicken BBQ! Profits of approximately $950 will go to the Hopeful Sunday school class treasury for assorted charities and

church needs. Trinity’s general fund and the South Newton TVFC each were given donations. Class members also

decided to donate five hundred dollars to the Garman family for their medical expenses for their 7-year-old daughter. Tara, a second grader at the Mount Rock Elementary School, has Juvenile Batten Disease. She has received a stem cell transplant at Duke in NC, where she and her mother will be staying for up to six months. Batten Disease is an extremely rare genetic illness that affects the nervous system. Symptoms are similar to Parkinson ’s disease and slowly rob a person of the ability to see, move, speak, remember, and eat. Tara is already learning Braille as her eyesight slips away.

FLEA MARKET & CHICKEN BBQ – JUNE 4 A special flea market and chicken BBQ is planned for Saturday, June 4, at the South Newton TVFC for the benefit of the Garman family. Megan Goodhart Orris is organizing the event and will need our help. Contact her if you are interested in setting up tables, buying chicken meals, or helping in other ways. She can be reached at [email protected] or 773-1169. Donations can also be made at any Members 1st branch to the “Tara’s Fight Against Batten Disease” or at www.gofundme.com/yr9kqm78.

CHICKEN BBQ – MEMORIAL DAY SATURDAY, MAY 28

The traditional Trinity’s Trustees chicken BBQ will be held Saturday, May 28 at TFC for eat-in or take-out before the Walnut Bottom Memorial Day parade.

HOPEFUL SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS Do you need a Sunday school class?

Consider yourself invited to the Hopeful SS class in TFC at 9 AM

each Sunday morning! Discussion is always lively, and new members are always

welcome. Bring your own Bible, or borrow one of the Bibles provided in the classroom.

In addition to the weekly lessons, the class has developed a prayer ministry of concerns and praises.

An email update is sent out with the prayer list and notes from the day’s lesson.

We hope that you will come join the Hopeful SS Class! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Trinity’s Future

Have you heard the exciting news that Trinity might be joining forces with three churches in our immediate area – Lees Cross Roads, Hays Grove, and Cleversburg? Discussions first began within the Leesburg Charge, and they approved moving forward with the idea. Now Trinity has a committee made up of Pastor Harold Bolyard, Marylue Durff, Tom Holmes, Beverly Rosenberry, and Mike Wadel to discuss the idea of a merger. They welcome your questions or suggestions.

Important things to remember in the coming months: Keep an open mind. Be receptive.

Communicate. Be positive. ~~~~~~~~~~

Sometimes things take time. Be positive; stay patient; and things will get better.
