The Lord’s Prayer

Pray then like this:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

The creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. Rom 8:21-23.

Dear Pastor Gabe,Your refusal to part with your 20-year-old suit is a tremendous inspiration for me. I come from a country where "men of God" buy private jets, establish private universities, drive limousines, wear bespoke and expensive suits, live in palaces, eat the best dishes, exploit the economic hardship facing their flocks, ( and some of them marry the most beautiful girls). I was a Muslim; but since Christ arrested me on the 'Road to Damascus' 6 years ago, I have been trying to establish a very personal relationship with this person who arrested me. However, occasionally, I am dispirited by the extravagance of some "men of God" who have turned Christianity into full-length business.

So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.’ And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt.

When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place.

So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.” Jesus

unforgiving

“An unforgiving spirit brings isolation and a compounding of our bitterness, and sooner or later it shows itself. Self-pity finds its roots here. Then comes depression as an unforgiving, offended self turns inward. We become even more fault-finding and hurt and unforgiving, then more depressed and emotionally unhealthy. Not only do friendships sour, but our own healthy relationship with God becomes insipid.”

“The health benefits of a forgiving spirit are incalculable. We are never closer to God, or more like God, than when we forgive! When we forgive, we are like the Father and like the Son. We say “to err is human,” and that is true. But the last part of that couplet is, “to forgive is divine,” and so it is. You are never more beautiful or noble or healthy than when you forgive, for then you are closer to God.”
