An introduction to the owners of The Lodge on Loch Goil:
Iain Hopkins and his partner Alice Gill are the owners of The Lodge on Loch Goil which has been a family run business for over 18 years. They firmly believe that making people feel welcome and comfortable is at the heart of the hospitality industry. They pride themselves in fully understanding their guests needs and exceeding them.
The Hopkins employ many local people in the area and their 14 year old son Luke has been working with them for the past 2 years and has learnt so much. They feel that hospitality work is the perfect training ground to teach young people the skills they need to take them into their future careers.

THE LODGE ON LOCH GOIL : A BRIEF HISTORY
The Lodge on Loch Goil, formerly known as Woodside Lodge, was builtin 1864 and began life as a modest Georgian villa. It is possible thatWilliam Leiper was involved in the original design but it was certainlyLeiper who was commissioned by wealthy Glasgow Merchant,Alexander Ferguson, to substantially extend the villa. The resultingimpressive Arts and Crafts style residence was used by Ferguson as ahunting lodge but towards the end of the last century it had fallen intodisrepair.
Iain Hopkins purchased The Lodge in 1997 and after undergoing a majorrenovation, the main building was lovingly restored and now houses oneof the UK’s largest collection of Arts and Crafts furniture and antiques.
Inside, the seven luxury bedrooms, dramatic sitting room and cosywhisky bar all display period charm, whilst the spectacular dining roomexhibits fine examples of original stained-glass windows designed byDaniel Cottier, hand-painted wallpaper, oak-panelled walls and parquetflooring.

Over the last 20 years The Lodge on Loch Goil has established itself as a 5 star exclusive use venue specialising in small weddings, family get-togethers and gastronomic getaways as well as corporate events and fashion shoots.
The location has been frequently used for advertising, editorial and catalogue shoots by clients that include M&S, Johnstons Cashmere, Louis Vuitton, Toast, Neiman Marcus (USA), Macy’s (USA), The White Company, Pringle, Condé Nast Traveller, Elle, Marie Claire, GQ, Boden, Laura Ashley and John Lewis.

Co-owner of the Lodge Alice Gill is the inhouse wedding and events Director who has flawlessly planned over 1,000 weddings at The Lodge and has a vast experience in the wedding industry.

Argyll is home to an abundance of food suppliers and an eclectic range of wild foods. It’s important to us at The Lodge to eat with the seasons, blending traditional and modern food together with a sprinkle of what this area has to offer - from shore plants to local hand picked girolles. Always an exciting adventure for the chef and customers alike.
Guests at the restaurant will be able to choose to dine in the Orangery, the Arts & Crafts dining room, or in the Treehouse. The Lodge has received the following awards for its food:

The Lodge on Loch Goil has been providing indulgence breaks for over 14 years. Many guests return after holding their weddings at the lodge and celebrate an anniversary or special occasion. We also requests for bespoke proposal packages.
We take the time to create special breaks for couples where they can either stay in the Lodge or Summerhouse and enjoy a private dining experience in our iconic treehouse overlooking the loch.

While actress and producer, Kathie Lee Gifford was staying at the Lodge on Loch Goil during her time in Scotland filming ‘Then came you’ she fell in love with the Lodge and decided to re-write the final scene in the film in order to include the Lodge on Loch Goil’s famous treehouse.
Filming at The Lodge took place on the 4th of July 2018 which was the final day of shooting and once complete The Lodge held the wrap party for all 75 cast and crew members. ‘Then came you’ will be released in the US early next year and the premiere event will be held in Scotland.
Kathie plans to return to Scotland for the film sequel and once the project is complete has agreed to feature The Lodge on Loch Goil on her morning breakfast show on NBC television.

Contained within the beautiful gardens of the Lodge are two surprises: the magnificent Treehouse which was built in 2004, perfect for a unique wedding ceremony, private dining experience or the perfect proposal location; and the original Summerhouse which was built in 1890, a secluded couples hideaway on the shores of the loch offering the ultimate peace, privacy and spectacular views.

HOW TO GET HERE
The Lodge on Loch Goil can be accessed via rail, road, sea and sky!
Rail: We are 30 minutes drive from Arrochar railway station. This station is serviced by local trains and is also fortunate enough to be one of the stops for the overnight Caledonian sleeper service from London Euston to the Highlands of Scotland. In March 2019 the sleeper service will see the introduction of its new luxurious rolling stock. A range of accommodation options will be offered, including: Comfort Seats, Classic Rooms, Club Rooms and suites.
Scotland’s Caledonian Sleeper service has been hailed as one of Lonely Planet’s ‘Super Sleeper Trains’ and the London to Fort William service made the world’s best selling travel guidebook’s top ten list.
Road: If arriving by rail visitors have the option to be collected in one of our fleet of vintage Land Rovers from Arrochar railway station.
Sea: The Lodge has recently submitted a planning proposal to build a new jetty and pontoon directly in front of the Lodge on Loch Goil. This will enable visitors to experience arrival by water either by sea plane, powerboat or yacht. We would like to offer boat transfers to The Lodge from the new Jetty in Arrochar and also Garelochhead, Helensburgh and Glasgow.
Sky: With Glasgow International airport only 1hr away it could not be easier for visitors to come from near and far!
