Funding Boost for
Liskerrett Community
Centre Liskerrett Community Centre has received a
£29,500.00 funding boost from SITA Cornwall
Trust which will be used to undertake
refurbishment work that will help to improve the
quality of the centre, whilst reducing running
costs and CO2 emissions. It will also introduce
quality WiFi throughout the Centre in
conjunction with superfast broadband.
SITA Cornwall Trust provides funding through the Landfill Communities Fund. Funding is available for
community and environmental groups to carry out a range of improvement projects.
The funding allocated to Liskerrett Community Centre will all be invested in making improvements to the
Centre, including the introduction of controlled heating zones, replacing the leaky and rotten windows in the
Hub café with traditional, but double glazed, casement windows in keeping with the existing style of the
Building, and improving access to WiFi for users.
Support for the project has also come from Liskeard Cornwall Councillor, Mike George, through the
Cornwall Councillors’ Community Chest Fund and from donations and fundraising from regular users and
supporters of the Centre.
‘This funding, and the work it will fund, will make a huge difference to the Centre,’ said Liskerrett’s
Chairperson John Lennon. ‘Not only will it result in direct environmental benefits, it will generate the
provision of additional services and activities being delivered locally, and it will reduce running costs which
can then be directly invested back into the project to enable us to carry out further improvements.’
Located close to the town centre and Liskeard’s Cattle Market Car Park, Liskerrett Community Centre is
already open each weekday and available to hire every day of the week, including evenings, and offers a wide
range of services and activities for all ages. To find out more visit www.liskerrett.co.uk
On top of this, Liskerrett has also been successful in securing £800 of grant funding from the Caradon Area
Community Fund and a Red Nose Day Community Cash Grant of £1,000 to invest in the computer
equipment in our IT suite. The IT suite is open every day from 9am to 5pm and the computers are free for
members of the public to use.
