A new section of the Royal Enfield owners club has opened. This is a branch called the Humberside section and its meetings are held at the Tiger Inn, Lairgate Beverly on

the last Monday of the month. They run from 7.00pm to 7.30pm.

The Lincolnshire section of the Royal Enfield owners club had a ride out to the garage this Saturday. About 20 bikes came from all over the county, some from the North bank. All were made welcome with tea, coffee and biscuits served by Liz. After

visiting they left to have a carvery lunch at the local pub.

The first training course for routine maintenance was held on Saturday 16th March, in which 7 people attended. A brief explanation of the basics of engine design and

operation was given using a factory sectioned 350 engine. After tea and refreshments were served, a demonstration of servicing a bike was performed with people having hands-on involvement. After many requests, another may be held at the back end of

the year. Keep an eye on the forum for details.

The Lincolnshire section of the Royal Enfield owners club are moving their meeting place to the Plough at Walcot. Pete and Angie, the Landlords of the Marmion arms at

Haltham, are moving to Walcot because the pub is closing. They have been good hosts for the club and so the section has decided to follow them there. The section meets on the third Tuesday of the month and all are welcome. Food is normally available but not for January as they are having a new kitchen fitted. Walcot is

situated on the B1189 off the A153 just south of Tattershall.

Boxing Day Run

The Mid Lincs section of the VMCC was held the other day. It started from Market Rasen market place and was a nice run on traditional Lincolnshire roads, quiet and

straightish, to the pleasant village of Corringham near Gainsborough. The run concluded with a nice cup of coffee at the Beckett Arms and pleasant conversation with old friends. About 20 bikes and some nice old cars turned up, with the weather being very kind although quite cold. Many thanks to John Mundey for an excellent

route.

Pre 65 at Cadwell

On the 27th it was the annual pre 65 trial organized by the Poachers section of the AJS and Matchless owners club. The entry was free, the facilities being kindly

donated by the owners of Cadwell park, Motor Sport Vision Ltd. A collection was being made in aid of the Air Ambulance. Over 100 entrants took part in the trial,

braving the cold weather and damp conditions.

A nice Royal Enfield 500 at section 8. On the day the ground was slippery to foot but the riders seemed to be coping very well.

Sunday, December 9, 2007

The Lincolnshire section of the Royal Enfield owners club had their Christmas dinner last night at the Marmion arms, Haltham near Horncastle. The landlord prepared a

marvellous 5 course meal with choices for starters, mains and sweets. The service was excellent. After the meal the landlord had arranged a quiz based on a Christmas

theme, and then we had a raffle which raised £62.00 for charity. Many thanks to Barry for organizing this event, and for all his work throughout the year.

This is a Picture of the new Royal Enfield Electra Woodsman, launched at the NEC show this week. Notice the left hand exhaust and the rear set gear and brake controls,

trials bar and sump plate.

This is the De-luxe version with chrome guards. The price starts from £3895.00 for the Woodsman and £3995.00 for the de-lux version. The bike will be on sale from the

spring of 2008 to continue the hugely successful range of Royal Enfield’s.

Did you see the new Royal Enfield engine for 2009, to meet the Euro 3 regulations and the new Royal Enfield Electra Woodsman at the NEC stand in November?

Because of these regulations the importers Watsonian Squire have had to bring in extra stock of bikes to meet demand.

The old iron engine classic bike of the 50's will no longer be available once these stocks have run out, but they expected to last well into 2008 unless there is a rush.

So place your orders soon for the new Woodsman or any other model you may fancy because when stocks are gone they will be gone. We have demonstrators for you to

try, just bring your helmet and licence and have a go.

London to Brighton Run

The car is a1904 De-Dion Bouton model Y 8hp 3 speed. It is a single cylinder with an atmospheric inlet valve and trembler coil ignition. It has variable valve and ignition

timing as well as mixture controls for air and fuel.

The brake is a transmission brake and the handbrake operates on the two rear wheels. The picture shows Jim and John coming into Crawley for the lunch break of the 2007

London to Brighton veteran car run.

The car started at 7.57am at Hyde Park London and finished at Madeira Drive Brighton at 1.05pm. No snags or stoppages this year and a leisurely lunch break of 1

hour.

Members of the Lincolnshire section of the REOC enjoyed a Buffet put on by the Landlord of the Marmion Arms at Haltham near Horncastle.

A cake was presented by Liz Allen to celebrate our 5th birthday. A short quiz followed the food which was organized by the landlord. A very enjoyable night was had by all.

The flowers on the cake are all hand made from sugar paste and the filling is a jam and cream sponge with over a pound of butter going into the ingredients to make a

delicious cake. It was made by Eileen Cook.
