UPDATE ON SECURITY: New Lock System There will be a new lock system in place at the church beginning Monday, February 10th. We are implementing a card reading system and replacing the traditional key system that we are currently using. The keys that open the outside doors will no longer be useable on the 10th of February and beyond. New rules and regulations within our insurance policy and for the safety of everyone were two major reasons behind this Elder decision. PLEASE NOTE: AFTER THIS DATE, ANY GRAND MASTER OR OFFICE KEYS YOU HAVE WILL NOT WORK ON ANY OUTSIDE DOORS. THEY WILL, HOWEVER, STILL WORK ON ALL INSIDE DOORS. Beginning Monday, February 10th, all outside doors (with the exception of the new office entrance) will be locked during regular office hours. Please go through Kathy Tyner or Nancy Jo Hammel during the day if you need a certain door unlocked for an activity. If you need to enter the building after hours, you will need to pick up a temporary card from the office during regular office hours which are Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. It only takes a few minutes to prepare the card for the time you will need to be in the church building. Please note, these cards are reusable and should be returned at your earliest convenience. Your card will only open the door you requested and will only be usable for the time you requested as well. As with all changes, this one is no different. It will require all of us to exercise patience, love, and grace with each other as we try to move forward in this new environment of security and safety. I don’t know about you, but for me I spend a lot of time pondering, praying, and searching for the next big thing. What is on the horizon? What is God trying to tell me? Sometimes to be honest I spend time wondering why God is not telling me.

Anyway, my mind is always thinking. I am probably guilty of looking for the home runs. The things that we can all do together to show the love of Christ to others. I really love it when we gather together and move in one spirit to our community. Doing so helps us take those baby steps in our desire to reach out. It helps connect us together, to one another. The Bible speaks of this in Proverbs 27:17 “where as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” We learn a lot from each other when we combine

our gifts that God has given us. Trusting all the while that if we take a step out, God will move with us, ahead and behind us preparing the way for another’s heart to soften and grab a glimpse of Jesus. With that said, I have seen the mighty power of simple things done with great love. Simple acts of kindness baked in prayer on behalf of another. One person or just a few with a prompting by the Holy Spirit to act. The power is God’s alone. Our job is to be obedient to His promptings. Over the

past several years, I have really come to love getting to know so many of you on a deeper level. I have witnessed first hand many of the simple things you have done and are doing currently with great love for others. It is a real privilege to see. As we journey together in the new year filled with opportunity to reach out, come be a part of all that you can get. Participate in everything you can. Connect. Help us put our collective best foot forward. Most importantly relish in the simple things…the things that God is prompting you to do on behalf of another. The happy life is found not at the end of the rainbow, but with a life filled with service to others on behalf of Jesus. Make 2014 a year to remember!

So no one stands alone,

Curt TuranchickConnections Minister

Passion 2014a new season of ministry to college students

At 7:00am on Friday, January 17th our church bus will roll out of the Bachelor Creek parking lot with 35 college students headed for the 2014 Passion Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

This will be the first time Bachelor Creek has taken a group of 18-25 year olds to the country’s premier Christian conference for this age group. Over the course of two days, these students will be challenged and encouraged in their faith by speakers Louie Giglio and Francis Chan and led in worship experiences by Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, David Crowder, and Hillsong United.

It is going to be a powerful (and potentially life-changing) weekend for these students!

The opportunity for these students to have this experience is due in large part to those in our church who have expressed their love and concern for this age group over the past several

years. In particular, Pat & Carlye McLaughlin, Rob & Laura Cole, Mike & Cheri Culver, Mike & Beth Helton, and Stan Leland have all spent considerable time and effort to minister to this group of students.

As Student Minister here at Bachelor Creek, I’m proud to have the opportunity in 2014 to be a part of our ongoing (and growing) ministry to college-age students at Bachelor Creek. As you are well-aware, this season of life for these young people is critical as they establish their personal world-views and face significant opposition to their faith on their respective campuses and among their peers who do not know Christ.

Will you join with me in praying that through their experience at Passion, God grabs a hold of these students’ hearts in a big way?

SPOTLIGHT ON MISSIONS:North Burma Christian Mission

Heroes of Tiny Town!2014 HAS STARTED OFF WITH A BANG! WHAT A BLAST OF WINTER WE HAVE HAD THESE PAST FEW DAYS! I WILL ADMIT, I HAVE ENJOYED SPENDING LONG DAYS WITH MY FAMILY PLAYING GAMES, BAKING TOGETHER, AND ENJOYING A SLOWER WAY OF DOING LIFE!

Often we get so busy that we miss the little things, the important things! This past week has been a reminder to me to slow down, spend more time in prayer and bible study and making the most of the moments I’m given with my girls and husband.

As we begin a new year, I want to spotlight some outstanding preschool volunteers in our church! Maureen Lester and Tracy Short lead our nurseries. They do a fantastic job of leading nursery volunteers and loving on our littlest “Creekers.” Lisa Trump leads our 2’s and 3’s department. She

also spends several hours each week preparing for the little ones to come each Sunday. I appreciate her and the leadership she displays.

Finally, I want to recognize Mary Willmert. Mary works behind the scenes and makes sure that all of our craft, snack and small group supplies are stocked, organized and ready to use each week. Mary spends a lot of time cleaning classrooms and cupboards. She puts everything we use on a Sunday away and makes sure our supplies are ready to use! I appreciate the hours of work she puts

in that no one else ever sees. Thank you, Mary!

We have over 100 volunteers in Tiny Town. Be sure to thank them when you drop off and pick up your little ones! They are such a blessing to all of our young families!

Keep warm, and remember to keep making memories with your family!!

FYI***updates!Things You Need to Know

Joel and Marilyn Khopang are missionaries serving in Thailand, and they have been at Bachelor Creek on many occasions to share their mission with us. They live in Chiangmai, Thailand. Joel is a native of Burma (now Myanmar) and serves as the president of Lisu Bible Institute (LBI. Marilyn’s family (Morse family) have served as Christian missionaries in Burma and Thailand for many years. They have three sons, one daughter and one grandchild. Their sons are currently college students in the U.S.

Joel baptized 114 individuals in 2014 and spoke to five different churches in separate villages in November. He teaches at LBI where there will be 14 students graduating in March. He has been and continues to translate the Bible into the Lisu language. Joel is planning a three week trip to Burma in February to speak at the annual meeting of the Anung people, and he will also be teaching a two week course at the Mytkyina Christian Seminary.

Marilyn continues her music ministry in Thailand and plans to do another audio album and a music video in 2014. She is a very gifted Christian musician, wife and mother.

We support the Khopangs financially on a monthly basis from our Missions Fund.
