The Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour
Welcome back to another exciting term of learning and opportunities at YCS!
At the end of last term, we farewelled the Class of 2019. Mrs Helen Tremain as Year Advisor organised a lovely assembly on the last day to celebrate 13 years of schooling. We wish Year 12 the best of luck with their HSC examinations which begin on Thursday.
You would agree that this year’s Big Gig was The Greatest Show! I appreciate the support of our community who attended the shows, the Yeoval Preschool, the UPA, St Columba’s, Cumnock Primary School and many friends and family members. I also appreciate the efforts that our Tullamore and Trundle communities went to, to include our staff and students. Your P&C, led by Renee McClure did an amazing job feeding students from the three schools.
The 2019 show was inclusive of Years 5-10, fifty-nine students plus Hannah and Bridget who were the MCs at the Yeoval performances. Below is a long list of staff and community members who supported our 10th show, all of whom I am very grateful for:
Peter Tremain: playwright and photography Helen Tremain: director and costuming Debbie Blatch: choreography Helen Johnson: musical director Ken Horley: supervision at Trundle and Tullamore Belinda Lorimer: makeup and back stage Natasha Freeth: catering and tickets Gemma Loud, Elaine Bates and James Sanders: supervision at Yeoval Sue Hogan: costuming James Sanders: props and set up Gemma Loud and Abigail Gellert: backdrops Toni Clark, Barb Gavin, Tracey Lee, Narelle Hogan, Kirsten Holman: publicity and tickets
During the last week of term, Mrs Jodie Klein organised an excursion to the Zoo for Years K-4 and Year 11 whilst the remainder of the school were at Big Gig. I thank her and the accompanying staff for a great day out whilst we had no town water on site.
Congratulations to Mrs Jennifer Sullivan (our substantive School Administrative Manager - SAM) who was successful in her application as a Learning Capability Development Officer. Jenny will be in this new role, support other SAMs around the State until July 2022. Jenny has also recently graduated from Deakin University, completing a Graduate Certificate of Education Business Leadership.
We are very proud of Chase GE and Llewelyn E who walked to Orange to raise money for the drought. At last count they had raised over $2000! I am sure their numeracy skills were in action as they calculated the time they needed to leave to walk the 85 kilometres.
Well done to Miss Jenny, Director of Yeoval Preschool and Amy Dickens who coordinated the Raindance event on Friday night. It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the meal and entertainment at the Royal Hotel.
Today we welcomed the Melbourne Cup and guests that are touring and thank them for the opportunity in Yeoval. I thank Mrs Helen Johnson who led our School Choir and our School Captains who represented the students at the official proceedings. Alf and Sharon Cantrell have done a marvellous job of getting the Cup to come to our community!
