The leather industry in Bangladesh has a very long tradition and it cancount on a skilful and hard working labour force. Bangladesh’s leathers,especially black Bengal goat skins, benefit from a high reputation in theinternational market due to their fine grain pattern, fibre texture andresilience. The richness of quality raw materials and the blend of traditionand skills offer to the industry a sound base for leaping forward into morevalue-added products and become an important international supplier offinished leather products, leather goods, accessories and footwear.
With this conviction, the International Trade Centre is cooperating withthe business community and the Government of Bangladesh tostrengthen the conditions for such development. What you see in thisbrochure is just a glimpse of the transformation that is underway.
