Synopsis This powerful, semi-autobiographical, rock musical in one act is by Jonathan

Larson, the creator of RENT. His girlfriend wants to get married and move out of

the city, his best friend is making big bucks on Madison Avenue, and yet Jon is still

waiting tables and trying to write the great American musical. Set in 1990, this

compelling story of personal discovery takes you on the playwright/composer’s

journey that led to a Broadway blockbuster.

The Lakeside Drama Association, Inc. (LDA) is a parent-run booster club, whose

purpose is to help provide excellent drama and musical theatre opportunities for

Lakeside students, as well as promote the development, education, and

continuation of the performing arts as part of the curriculum at Lakeside High

School.

We appreciate our community’s support as we continue to build a solid

foundation for theatre excellence at Lakeside.

Directors’ Note Tick, Tick… Boom! marks our fifth production with the Lakeside Theatre Company

and the Lakeside community. Though we always have a personal connection to

our shows, this is a show that speaks to us much louder. Jon’s desire to build

something incredible as time ticks away is a reoccurring theme, not only on our

stage tonight, but in all of our Lakeside productions. We’re only given four years

with each actor, actress and crew member that comes through our doors and we

push hard to create something greater than the sum of all its parts. Jonathan

Larson created with that same fervor, a fire to make… art. In his 35 years, Larson

created two incredible shows, one that would speak to his generation and send us

into a frenzy that created scores of eager teens and young adults outside the

Nederlander Theater hungry to see Larson’s Magnum Opus. The other would

serve as a musical autobiography, a look inside Larson’s head and heart as he

wrote day and night to get the world to hear him. We’re honored to put your

words and music on our stage, Jon, and we hope you and our audience enjoy our
