Brother Leal and Brother Gonzalez will be taking pictures every Monday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. They will also be taking member pictures at council functions in the near future. Our Faith Director, Brother Kevin Stancik has ordered new pamphlets for all three parishes, including some copies in Spanish. The shelves are pretty bare for now, but they will be filled when the pamphlets arrive. About 15 or 20 Knights and spouses traveled to Praha, Texas August 15 th on the Feast of The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven. Saint Mary’s Parish has their annual Church Festival/Picnic on this same date every year. We listened to a beautiful Rosary said in Czech prior to the 10:00 a.m. mass. The Celebrant was the retired Bishop from Victoria. After Mass, we went to the Church Cemetery and recited the Rosary at Monsignor Bily’s Grave. Praha is Monsignor Bily’s home parish. Monsignor Bily was a Parochial Vicar at Saints Peter and Paul some years back, and was the Chaplain of the Council and Assembly for years. After the Rosary we had a delicious meal, and returned home. Our Family Director, Clemente Leal is working on new family programs for our three parishes. He also does advertising for our Council Bingo on Facebook. Among his others duties, he manages the Family of the Month, and Knight of The Month Programs. Thank you one and all for your response for help whenever needed. Thank you to Brother Bob Stillman and the Admission Committee for your great work increasing our membership with good Catholic men ready to serve our Church and community. Thank you Bingo and Kitchen Workers for all you do. We are gearing up for Wurstfest parking; our big yearly fund raiser. We need maximum participation to make this our best year ever. Remember the more cars we park, the more money we make to support our charities and our churches. God will bless our efforts. Keep our sick and departed members in your prayers, and pray for our country and its leaders. (1)

September, 2018 Grand Knight’s Message GK Tony Friesenhahn

Brothers Tommy Daum, Clemente Leal, and Jamie Gonzales are working on a pictorial directory of council members.

About 15 or 20 Knights and spouses traveled to Praha, Texas August 15th on the Feast of The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven.

4th Degree Faithful Navigator Jerome Pavliska Congratulations to SK Clemente Leal. He has volunteered to be our Color Corp Commander. After the September meeting, we’ll get together to discuss fall-outs.

SK Herman Poothong has been selected by Supreme to be our next District Master. He was the District Marshall that performed the Installation of Officers in June. Congratulations to Herman.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. We will have a meal at 6:30 pm, pray the Rosary starting at 7:10 p.m. and the meeting will follow at 7:30 p.m.

Our next Rosary is on Saturday, September 15, at 7:30 am. Please come out to join us to say the Rosary at Msgr. Bily’s monument and then have some refreshments afterwards.

WURSTFEST is just around the corner! The Assembly is responsible for assigning workers to park cars on Monday, November 5. It is from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. We’ll have a sign-up sheet at the meeting. A lot of help is needed!

Please save the date! Friday, November 30, 2018, will be our annual Fourth Degree Christmas Party at the Columbus Club Hall. Financial Secretary Don Volz Circle October 30th on your calendars. At 7:00 p.m. that evening, the SP&P ACTS Community, the Catholics for Freedom of Religion and your K of C Council #4183 will host a screening of an extremely important film in St. Mary's Hall. The film, Power In My Hands, uncovers the timeless beauty and power of the rosary to heal, revitalize and restore hope to a world, to families, and to individuals in crisis. You won't want to miss it.

Also, on October 12th, The Gosnell Movie will open in theaters nationwide. The film is the shocking true story of the investigation and trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, the 30 year killing spree in his "House of Horrors" abortion clinic, and the political and media establishment that tried to hide it from the world. Because of the news and entertainment media blackout, the movie had to be financed by ordinary citizens through a record-breaking, on-line crowdfunding campaign that raised over 2.3 million dollars from 30,000 donors in 45 days.

MAJOR DEGREE The Council has scheduled a Major Degree for Saturday, September 22nd, at the Columbus Club

Hall. If you are a First Degree member, this is a good time to become a Third Degree Knight.

There is no cost to you.

Registration is from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Mass will be at 8:00 a.m. The Degree starts around

10:00 a.m. We’ll serve food after the Degree. Also, if you are a 3rd Degree Knight and haven’t

been to a Major Degree in a while, come join us. It’s nice to have guests attend to support

these men. If you want to help with setting up the hall and registration, cooking and/or

cleaning or bring a dessert, please contact Jerome Pavliska by email at

[email protected] or call him at (830) 832-2886. (2)
