dak gi mal dedak tamch laTo every single one of you, I bow in homage;

l dang ngak yi dangw chak gyi oDevotion fills my body, speech and mind.

dul chik teng na dul ny sangye namIn every atom preside as many buddhas as there are atoms,

sangye s kyi na shyukpa dakAnd around them, all their bodhisattva heirs:

detar ch kyi ying nam malpaAnd so I imagine them filling

tamch gyalwa dak gi gangwar mCompletely the entire space of reality.

marm chok dang dukp dampa yiOf music and perfumed ointments, the best of parasols,

gyalwa dedak la ni chpar gyiThe brightest lamps and finest incense.

naza dampa nam dang dri chok dangTo every buddha, I make offerings:

chema purma rirab nyampa dangExquisite garments and the most fragrant scents,

kpa khyepar pakp chok kn gyiPowdered incense, heaped as high as Mount Meru,

gyalwa dedak la ni chpar gyiArranged in perfect symmetry.

3. Confession

dchak shyedang timuk wang gi niWhatever negative acts I have committed,

l dang ngak dang deshyin yi kyi kyangWhile driven by desire, hatred and ignorance,

dikpa dak gi gyipa chi chipaWith my body, my speech and also with my mind,

dedak tamch dak gi sosor shakBefore you, I confess and purify each and every one.

4. Rejoicing

chok ch gyalwa kn dang sangye sWith a heart full of delight, I rejoice at all the merits

ranggyal nam dang lob dang mi lob dangOf buddhas and bodhisattvas,

dedak kn gyi jesu dak yi rangAnd every living being, throughout the entire universe.

5. Imploring the Buddhas to Turn the Wheel of Dharma

gang nam chok ch jikten drnma namYou who are like beacons of light shining through the worlds,

changchub rimpar sangye machak nyWho passed through the stages of enlightenment, to attain buddhahood, freedom from allattachment,

gnpo dedak dak gi tamch laI exhort you: all of you protectors,

khorlo lanamepar korwar kulTurn the unsurpassable wheel of Dharma.

6. Requesting the Buddhas not to Enter Nirva

nya ngen da tn gang shy dedak laJoining my palms together, I pray

drowa kn la pen shying dew chirTo you who intend to pass into nirva,

kalpa shying gi dul ny shyukpar yangRemain, for aeons as many as the atoms in this world,

dak gi talmo rab jar solwar gyiAnd bring well-being and happiness to all living beings.

chaktsalwa dang ch ching shakpa dangWhat little virtue I have gathered through my homage,

jesu yi rang kul shying solwa yiThrough offering, confession, and rejoicing,

gewa chungz dak gi chi sakpaThrough exhortation and prayerall of it

tamch dak gi changchub chir ngo oI dedicate to the enlightenment of all beings!

The Actual Aspiration

1. Aspiration for Purity of Attitude

dep sangye nam dang chok chu yiLet offerings be made to buddhas of the past,

jikten dak na gang shyuk chpar gyurAnd all who now dwell throughout the ten directions of this universe!

gangyang majn dedak rab nyurwarLet all who are yet to come swiftly fulfil their wishes

sam dzok changchub rimpar sangye chnAnd attain the stages of enlightenment and buddhahood!

chok chu gal shying nam jinyepaLet as many worlds as there are in all the ten directions

dedak gyacher yongsu dakpar gyurTransform into realms that are vast and utterly pure,

changchub shingwang drung shek gyalwa dangFilled with buddhas who have sat before the mighty bodhi tree,

sangye s kyi rabtu gangwar shokAround them all their bodhisattva sons and daughters!

chok ch semchen gang nam jiny paLet as many sentient beings as there are in all the ten directions

dedak taktu nem dewar gyurLive always and forever in happiness and health!

drowa kn gyi ch kyi dn nam niLet all beings meet the Dharma

tnpar gyur ching rewa ang drubpar shokThat befits them best! And so may all they hope for be fulfilled!

2. Aspiration Never to Forget the Bodhicitta

changchub chpa dak ni dak ch chingAs I practise the training for enlightenment,

drowa kntu kyewa drenpar gyurMay I recall all my previous births,

tserab kntu chipo kyewa naAnd in my successive lives, through death and through rebirth,

taktu dak ni rabtu jungwar shokMay I always renounce the worldly life!

gyalwa kn gyi jesu lob gyur tTraining in the footsteps of all the victorious buddhas,

zangpo chpa yongsu dzok j chingMay I bring Good Actions to perfection,

tsultrim chpa drim yong dakpaAnd my moral conduct be taintless and pure,

taktu manyam kynm chpar shokNever lapsing, and always free from fault!

lha yi k dang lu dang njin kIn the language of the gods, ngas, and yakas,

drulbum dak dang mi yi k nam dangIn the language of demons and of humans too,

drowa kn gyi dra nam ji tsamparIn however many kinds of speech there may be

tamch k du dak gi ch ten toI shall proclaim the Dharma in the language of all!

3. Aspiration to be Free from Defilements

l dang nynmong d kyi l nam lMay I be freed from karma, harmful emotions, and the work of negativity,

drol shying jikten drowa nam su yangAnd act for all beings in the world,

jitar pemo ch michakpa shyinJust like the lotus flower to which mud and water cannot cling,

nyida namkhar tokpam tar chOr sun and moon that course unhindered through the sky.

4. Aspiration to Lead Beings to Happiness

shying gi khyn dang chok nam chi tsamparThroughout the reach and range of the entire universe

ngensong dukngal rabtu shyiwar jI shall pacify completely the suffering of all the lower realms,

dewa dak la drowa kn g chingI shall lead all beings to happiness,

drowa tamch la ni penpar chAnd work for the ultimate benefit of each and every one!

5. Aspiration to Wear the Armour of Dedication

changchub chpa yongsu dzokj chingI shall bring enlightened action to perfection,

semchen dak gi ch dang tnpar jukServe beings so as to suit their needs,

zangpo chpa dak ni rab tn chingTeach them to accomplish Good Actions,

ma ong kalpa kntu chpar gyurAnd continue this, throughout all the aeons to come!

6. Aspiration to Accompany other Bodhisattvas

dak gi ch dang tsungpar gang chpaMay I always meet and be accompanied by

dedak dang ni taktu drokpar shokThose whose actions accord with mine;

l dang ngak nam dang ni sem kyi kyangAnd in body, speech and mind as well,

chpa dak dang mnlam chik tu chMay our actions and aspirations always be one!

7. Aspiration to Have Virtuous Teachers and to Please Them

dak la penpar dp drokpo dakMay I always meet spiritual friends

zangpo chpa rabtu tnpa namWho long to be of true help to me,

dedak dang yang taktu trepar shokAnd who teach me the Good Actions;

dedak dak gi namyang yi miyungNever will I disappoint them!

8. Aspiration to See the Buddhas and Serve them in Person

sangye s kyi korw gnpo namMay I always behold the buddhas, here before my eyes,

ngnsum taktu dak gi gyalwa taAnd around them all their bodhisattva sons and daughters.

ma ong kalpa kntu mikyowarWithout ever tiring, throughout all the aeons to come,

dedak la yang chpa gyacher gyiMay the offerings I make them be endless and vast!

9. Aspiration to Keep the Dharma Thriving

gyalwa nam kyi damp ch dzin chingMay I maintain the sacred teachings of the buddhas,

changchub chpa kntu nangwar jAnd cause enlightened action to appear;

zangpo chpa nampar jongwa yangMay I train to perfection in Good Actions,

ma ong kalpa kntu chepar gyiAnd practise these in every age to come!

10. Aspiration to Acquire Inexhaustible Treasure

sipa tamch du yang khorwa naAs I wander through all states of samsaric existence,

snam yeshe dak ni miz nyMay I gather inexhaustible merit and wisdom,

tab dang sherab tingdzin namtar dangAnd so become an inexhaustible treasury of noble qualities

ynten kn gyi miz dz du gyurOf skill and discernment, samdhi and liberation!

11. Aspiration to the Different Methods for Entering into the Good Actions

a) Seeing the Buddhas and their Pure Realms

dul chik teng na dul ny shying nam tIn a single atom may I see as many pure realms as atoms in the universe:

shying der sam gyi mikhyab sangye namAnd in each realm, buddhas beyond all imagining,

sangye s kyi na shyukpa laEncircled by all their bodhisattva heirs.

changchub chepa ch ching tawar gyiAlong with them, may I perform the actions of enlightenment!

detar mal tamch chok su yangAnd so, in each direction, everywhere,

tra tsam khyn la d sum ts ny kyiEven on the tip of a hair, may I see an ocean of buddhas

sangye gyatso shying nam gyatso dangAll to come in past, present and futurein an ocean of pure realms,

kalpa gyatso ch ching rabtu jukAnd throughout an ocean of aeons, may I enter into enlightened action in each and everyone!

b) Listening to the Speech of the Buddhas

sung chik yenlak gyats drak kyiEach single word of a buddhas speech, that voice with its ocean of qualities,

gyalwa kn yang yenlak namdakpaBears all the purity of the speech of all the buddhas,

drowa kn gyi sampa jishyin yangSounds that harmonize with the minds of all living beings:

sangye sung la taktu jukpar gyiMay I always be engaged with the speech of the buddhas!

c) Hearing the Turning of the Wheels of Dharma

d sum shekp gyalwa tamch dakWith all the power of my mind, may I hear and realize

khorl tsul nam rabtu korwa yiThe inexhaustible melody of the teachings spoken by

dedak gi yang sung yang miz laAll the buddhas of past, present and future,

lo yi tob kyi dak kyang rabtu jukAs they turn the wheels of Dharma!

d) Entering into All the Aeons

ma ong kalpa tamch jukpar yangJust as the wisdom of the buddhas penetrates all future aeons,

kechik chik gi dak kyang jukpar gyiSo may I too know them, instantly,

gangyang kalpa d sum ts dedakAnd in each fraction of an instant may I know

kechik chash kyi ni shyukpar chAll that will ever be, in past, present and future!

e) Seeing all the Buddhas in One Instant

d sum shekpa mi yi seng gangIn an instant, may I behold all those who are the lions of the human race

dedak kechik chik la dak gi taThe buddhas of past, present and future!

f) Entering the Sphere of Activity of the Buddhas

taktu dedak gi ni chyul laMay I always be engaged in the buddhas way of life and action,

gyumar gyurp namtar tob kyi jukThrough the power of liberation, where all is realized as like an illusion!

g). Accomplishing and Entering the Pure Lands

gangyang d sum dak gi shying kpaOn a single atom, may I actually bring about

dedak dul chik tengdu ngnpar drubThe entire array of pure realms of past, of present and future;

detar mal chok nam tamch duAnd then enter into those pure buddha realms

gyalwa dak gi shying nam k la jukIn each atom, and in each and every direction.

h) Entering into the Presence of the Buddhas

gangyang majn jikten drnma namWhen those who illuminate the world, still to come,

dedak rimpar tsang gya khorlo korGradually attain buddhahood, turn the Wheel of Dharma,

nya ngen depa rabtu shyi ta tnAnd demonstrate the final, profound peace of nirva:

gnpo kn gyi drung du dak chi oMay I be always in their presence!

12. Aspiration to the Power of Enlightenment through Nine Powers

kntu nyurw dzutrul tob nam dangThrough the power of swift miracles,

knn go yi tekp tob dak dangThe power of the vehicle, like a doorway,

kntu khyabpa jampa dak gi tobThe power of loving kindness, all-pervasive,

knn gew snam tob dak dangThe power of merit that is totally virtuous,

chakpa mepar gyurp yeshe tobThe power of wisdom free from attachment, and

sherab tab dang tingdzin tob dak giThe powers of knowledge, skilful means and samdhi,

changchub tob nam yangdak drubpar jMay I perfectly accomplish the power of enlightenment!

13. Aspiration to the Antidotes that Pacify the Obscurations

l kyi tob nam yongsu dakj chingMay I purify the power of karma;

nynmong tob nam kntu jompar jDestroy the power of harmful emotions;

d kyi tob nam tobm rabj chingRender negativity utterly powerless;

zangpo chp tob ni dzokpar gyiAnd perfect the power of Good Actions!

14. Aspiration to Enlightened Activities

shying nam gyatso nampar dakj chingI shall purify oceans of realms;

semchen gyatso dak ni nampar drolLiberate oceans of sentient beings;

ch nam gyatso rabtu tongj chingUnderstand oceans of Dharma;

yeshe gyatso rabtu tokpar jRealize oceans of wisdom;

chpa gyatso nampar dakj chingPerfect oceans of actions;

mnlam gyatso yongsu dzokpar jFulfil oceans of aspirations;

sangye gyatso rabtu chj chingServe oceans of buddhas!

kalpa gyatso mikyo chepar gyiAnd perform these, without ever growing weary, through oceans of aeons!

15. Aspiration for Training

a) To Emulate the buddhas

gangyang d sum shekp gyalwa yiAll the buddhas throughout the whole of time,

khepa d dang tsungpar chep chirSo that I may act with a skill like his,

gewa didak tamch rabtu ngoI dedicate fully all these merits!

l dang ngak dang yi kyang namdak chingTo purify my body, my speech and my mind as well,

chpa namdak shying nam yong dakpaTo purify my actions, and all realms,

ngowa zangpo khepa chindrawaMay I be the equal of Samantabhadra

knn gewa zangpo chep chirIn order to perform the full virtue of Good Actions,

d yi jawa mal dzokpar gyiI shall perfectly fulfil every one of his aims!

trulpa mangpo jewa trak gya yiWith my billions of emanations,

lo yi tob kyi chok chu nam su yangSent out through the power of my mind,

semchen nam la penpa mangpo gyiMay I bring enormous benefit to sentient beings, in all the ten directions!
