journey the winter 2014 Before the Throne Praise the Lord for a 5week break from school, and 2week department closure for Christmas/ New Year. Pray for wisdom during the break as I get things done on my new house, prepare for the next semester of teaching, and rest! Pray for peace in our area of PNG. As you may be aware, PNG is sGll a very indigenous place, steeped in tradiGon. Right now, two villages around us are in the middle of a sort of “civil war.” We expatriates aren’t in danger, but some of the locals we know are. Advent of advents I love this Gme of the year. I know It’s preNy cliche to say that, and I’m sure most, if not all, of you will say the same thing. There are a lot of reasons to love it... the music, the decoraGons, the food, the parGes, the friends, family. But most importantly, we get to focus solely on one of the most important events in our history the birth of Christ. Jesus, the man who is God incarnate, comes into our world to live and become for us our SalvaGon. I also love the simple definiGon of advent: the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event. And the birth of Christ was the Advent of all advents! I hope that you and I, especially during this season, will take the Gme to seek our Savior, and I pray that He uses us for His work as we look forward to the next great Advent His return! Introductions I want you to meet a couple of the amazing people I work with in the Finance Office! Meet Ompasi he is our Accounts Payable/ Accounts Receivable Supervisor. He has worked for SIL (my organizaGon in Papua New Guinea) for almost 26 years. He lives on our center, but he’s from a local village, about a 2 hour walk from Ukarumpa. Without him, I’d surely be lost as the Finance Manager he knows so much, as you could imagine. He also decorates our Finance Christmas tree each year! Deb and her husband, Bill, have been with Wycliffe for about 33 years, and in PNG for 12 of those years. She mostly deals with the finances of members of our branch. Her youngest daughter, Amanda, also lives and works here, and is one of my best friends. Deb and her family had me over for Thanksgiving. Here’s a picture of her with our awesome turkey! Stay tuned for more introducGons next Gme... “For to us a child is born; to us a son is given!” Isaiah 9:6 a newsletter from brandy ingle To Donate: http://www.wycliffe.org/Partnership.aspx?mid=137574 Contact Me [email protected] www.brandyingle.wordpress.com Skype: brandyingle Mailing Address: Brandy Ingle SIL Box 1(493) Ukarumpa EHP 444 Papua New Guinea

Before the Throne

Praise  the  Lord  for  a  5-‐week  break  from  school,  and  2-‐week  department  closure  for  Christmas/  New  Year.

Advent of adventsI  love  this  Gme  of  the  year.    I  know  -‐  It’s  preNy  cliche  to  say  that,  and  I’m  sure  most,  if  not  all,  of  you  will  say  the  same  thing.    There  are  a  lot  of  reasons  to  love  it...  the  music,  the  decoraGons,  the  food,  the  parGes,  the  friends,  family.    But  most  importantly,  we  get  to  focus  solely  on  one  of  the  most  important  events  in  our  history  -‐  the  birth  of  Christ.

I  hope  that  you  and  I,  especially  during  this  season,  will  take  the  Gme  to  seek  our  Savior,  and  I  pray  that  He  uses  us  for  His  work  as  we  look  forward  to  the  next  great  Advent  -‐  His  return!

IntroductionsI  want  you  to  meet  a  couple  of  the  amazing  people  I  work  with  in  the  Finance  Office!

Meet  Ompasi  -‐  he  is  our  Accounts  Payable/  Accounts  Receivable  Supervisor.    He  has  worked  for  SIL  (my  organizaGon  in  Papua  New  Guinea)  for  almost  26  years.    He  lives  on  our  center,  but  he’s  from  a  local  village,  about  a  2  hour  walk  from  Ukarumpa.    Without  him,  I’d  surely  be  lost  as  the  Finance  Manager  -‐  he  knows  so  much,  as  you  could  imagine.    He  also  decorates  our  Finance  Christmas  tree  each  year!

1 | I attended a two-day training with our teachers to gain ideas on how to be better

teachers. A professor from Indiana Wesleyan was our speaker.

2 | One of the hardest things about living as a missionary is all the good-byes. My good

friends Laura and Luke left in October.

3 | In November, the Secondary Campus puts on a Carnival. They do such a great

job - we even have a ferris wheel!

4| Each term the high schoolers play a different sport. This term was girls

basketball and boys soccer. They held a tournament in November with four other

teams from around the country.

5 | As mentioned in my last newsletter, I bought a house in October. I’m not in it yet, but still working on a little remodel of it. I

hope to be in by Christmas! This is a picture of the “before” and “during” stages.

6 | For Christmas, our store stocks special items just for a month. They reveal all of

the special items on the Saturday after Thanksgiving - which we Americans like to call “black Saturday”... only it’s not so much a sale as a markup! The picture is of a group

of us waiting for the store to open.

7 | Leah and I put up a Christmas tree - it even has presents under it from home!

I also experienced Thanksgiving like I never would have at home. You can read about

my Three Thanksgivings on my blog (web address below)

Thank your for your support! Can you believe I’ve been in PNG for almost two years?! Over time, my budget has increased, and my support has

decreased slightly. I need an additional $380 per month to meet the budget set for me.

Will you consider increasing your regular donations or begin supporting me regularly if you haven’t before?

If you’d like to do either, you can check out the Wycliffe website on page one, or just contact me!

Merry Christmas!Brandy
