Dear Sorors,
As we take time to give thanks this month for our blessings during the year, let us take time to be thankful for surviving Hurricane Sandy and find a way to reach out and help someone who may be a little less fortunate than we. I
know we were all touched by the young mom in Staten Island who had her
two year old and four year old sons swiped away from her in an instant from
the forceful rush of water during the storm. As we, with time and support and love of family and
friends, she will forge ahead. “No man is an island; no man stands alone.”
We have done our share in getting potential voters to register; now we have to make sure that
they go to the polls to vote on Tuesday, November 6th. Make sure you take five voters with you
to polls or remind them to go and vote.
Pi Pi Omega has planned a great Leadership Conference on November 17th and if you have not
done so, please register by the extended deadline of November 13th. Soror Kimberly Myott has
the details in her article. If you plan to go, please inform me via my information below.
Also, sorors we need certified graduate advisors. Please register now to take the certification course at the Regional Conference in April 2013.
I am attempting a new format here. Please see the individual articles for detailed information as
to what is happening in the chapter and the Sorority.
Again our hearts go out to the victims of Hurricane Sandy. We will keep you in our thoughts
and prayers.
Sorors, as we have been saying all year, we have to increase our membership to do our part in
the region for reclaiming sorors. We were each asked to invite at least one person to reactivate. Dues are due December 31st; so let’s encourage our inactive sorors to reactivate for
2013.
Let’s do our share to Reclaim, Retain and Recruit. Thank you for your continued support and services sorors! Happy Thanksgiving! Sisterly,
Doris B. Mitchell, Basileus

First Anti Basileus: The Program Report Dear Sorors, We pray that those who are victims of Hurricane Sandy find peace, strength, shelter, food and re-sources as soon as possible; and may God light Tau Omega’s path in the direction he desires for us to serve others during this unprecedented Hurricane crisis.
The month of November is designated as American Diabetes and Good Nutrition month. Become aware of your blood sugar levels and the history of your family’s illnesses. Eating right and getting enough sleep will allow us to be ready to serve with a good attitude and the necessary energy.
Let’s pause to remember our Veterans and their families. Individually, and collectively, we can advocate for Veterans to receive necessary services as they return to our communities.
Coat Drive: The coat drive for Abby’s House through Abyssinian will continue at our November chapter meeting. Since the weather has changed and some of you were not in attendance at the October meeting, the Social Justice committee asks that you bring coats and jackets, sweat-ers and hats for women and children who are homeless. Chairs- Sorors Jonnie Marshall and Gloria Hartley.
Food Drive: The Global Poverty committee asks that you bring canned foods for the distribution
to victims of Hurricane Sandy. November is a time to give to others and the committee is lead-ing the campaign for us to collect food for those who have little or no resources. Please check the expiration dates on all items. Chair- Soror Tiaka Wright.
Books for Babies: Volunteers are needed to work closely with Soror Anne Cammack to provide
reading resources and books to new mothers in Harlem Hospital. Please call Soror Anne or myself if you are interested and available to assist her. Soror Anne has worked hard for many years on this committee and this initiative is one of Tau Omega’s signature programs. Please let us continue to serve the new mothers in Harlem.
Committee Chairs: Your activity reports for the 2012 Program Year are due to me no later than November 30th. If you need the template please call or email me :[email protected] or 718 443-4090.

Internal Leadership Training for External Service TΩ Green Print…Reclamation, Reactivation & Retention for a Life Long Sisterhood, continued… Sorors we must continue to build the Green Print solutions for SWOT. The 1st solution was STRENGTH. Sorors your solutions were: Reaching out to the other colleges on the charter; Maintain closes contact with graduating and visiting Sorors; Assisting undergraduate Sorors with paying chapter dues. The 2nd solution was WEAKNESS. The solutions were: Mentoring program to the undergraduates, reactivating, and trans-ferring Sorors into the chapter; Improving the current membership moral amongst each other. As a chapter we need to do a self-assessment and be committed to upholding the Life Long Sisterhood. Sorors let us continue to explore solutions for Opportunities & Threats.
Please email me [email protected] your solutions to Opportunities and Threats. I will discuss all responses at the November chapter meeting.
