The Hook• Is the very first sentence of your introductory

paragraph.• They come in three main formats: • Overarching Question: arise curiosity, but do

not require an answer. • “Is global warming the fault of humanity?”

• Quotation: from a famous person or expert on your topic. • “Global warming is too serious for the

world any longer to ignore its danger or split into opposing factions on it.”

• Tony Blair

• Shocking Statistic: statistics that have an impact. • “Ninety percent of the money teenagers

earn is wasted on items they do not need.”
