INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM APPLICATION CHECKLIST

All documents should be sent by e-mail to [email protected] by deadline listed on application.

☐ Apply online at http://internationalaffairs.louisiana.edu/node/41. ☐ Pay the $50.00 application fee. Payment options include U.S. check, money order, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express) which can be paid via form. ☐ Submit high school transcripts. Admission to the Intensive English Program requires proof of high school graduation. High school transcripts (& translations) are also required. ☐ Submit ALL college transcripts (if applicable). Students that have attended a college, technical school, or university in a country inside or outside of the U.S. (translations required) must submit their transcripts. (Required for conditional admission to an undergraduate program.) ☐ Submit the Chronological Record of Education form. This form lists all of the education a student has received. (Required for conditional admission to an undergraduate program.) ☐ Submit the Financial Information form and bank statements. This form is required for all students who will study on F-1 or J-1 visas – including those who are transferring from other schools in the U.S. ☐ Submit the Proof of Immunization form. This medical form is required for all students. ☐ Submit a copy of your passport photo page (required for F-1 or J-1 students), permanent residency card, asylum petition/approval, valid visa (other than B1/B2) or proof of

U.S. citizenship (passport or naturalization certificate).

Required for all students transferring from U.S. schools:

☐ After being admitted to the UL Lafayette IEP, the Designated School Official at your current institution must submit the International Student Transfer form.

Please note that if you are currently on academic or disciplinary probation/suspension, if you are not in good immigration status, or if you owe money to your current institution, you may not be eligible to

enroll in UL Lafayette’s Intensive English Program.

Requirements for Admission All IEP applicants must:

have earned a high school degree be in good immigration standing not be on academic or disciplinary probation

at their current institution

Application Procedure Before we can make an admissions decision, the following must be submitted:

1. A completed IEP application form 2. A $50.00 non-refundable application fee Make checks payable to IEP-UL.

3. High school and college transcripts (if applicable) including English translations

4. Financial Guarantee Form and bank statement of $10,963 (cost of 26 weeks) or government sponsorship letter

5. Chronological Record of Education Form - for those who seek conditional admission to undergraduate programs

6. Immunization Form (with attached records) 7. Copy of passport, visa, I-20AB, or PR Card

Extracurricular Activities and Campus Services

In addition to the many campus activities that regularly

occur, the IEP will sponsor events for students each session. Field trips to local areas of interest are

planned each session. Social events, such as International Hour and other occasions to meet

Americans for conversational English are also scheduled. Opportunities for exercise and recreational

activities on campus are readily available.

Program Information

Five 8-week sessions year round Entry into program at the start of any session 20 hours of instruction each week Classes held from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm M-F Small classes for individual attention Rapid improvement of English

TOEFL ITP

If a student successfully completes the Level 6 classes and Exit Exam (TOEFL ITP), the Internet-based TOEFL or IELTS is not required to apply to UL Lafayette’s undergraduate programs. Students applying to graduate programs may be required to take the TOEFL iBT, in addition to the GMAT or GRE. Admission into the IEP does not guarantee admission to UL Lafayette.

Testing and Placement

New students take a placement test to determine the appropriate level in which they will enroll. At the end of each session, students are given final exams and their performance in the classes determines if they move on to the next level.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition and fees for one 8-week session amount to approximately $2,000. Tuition and fees include the orientation session, classroom facilities, instructors, academic and college placement advising, regular student assessed fees, insurance, and services of selected campus offices. Tuition and fees for each session must be paid in U.S. dollars by week 2 of classes. Additional costs exist for dependents of students.

Housing and Meals

On-campus housing is available for single students. A non-refundable housing deposit/application fee of $200 is required. Residence hall rooms only can be reserved for those students who apply and pay the required deposit early. Dining on campus is available. Meal plans, with various price ranges, are provided for your selection.

Health Insurance

All F-1 (non-sponsored) students enrolled in IEP are automatically covered by insurance provided by UL Lafayette. The insurance fee is included on the tuition invoice. While enrolled in the IEP, students can take advantage of the health services located on campus. The application packet includes an immunization form, which must be completed and returned to the IEP office within 30 days of the first day of classes. This form must be submitted before a SEVIS I-20AB can be issued.
