Notes: The first 3 chains of each row count as a dc stitch. This scarf is made in 3 pieces: two long ends and one small diamond to join at the center.  Odd worked rows are considered the right side, for the purpose of joining and to obtain symmetry.

Chain 30 (27 ch + 3 ch count as first dc).

Row 1: For an even edge, stitch only into the back loops of the foundation ch. Dc into the 4th ch from the hook, dc again in the same stitch. Dc into the next 9 chains. Dc3tog, skip a ch, dc3tog. Dc into the next 9 chains. 3dc into the last ch.

Row 2: Turn, ch 3. Make all stitches into blo. 2dc in same stitch. Dc into the next 9 stitches. Dc3tog, dc3tog. Dc into the next 9 stitches. 3dc into last stitch.

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing to the center piece. Sew in ends, except for final tail.

The Indicator Scarf

Assembly: Lay all three pieces right side up. The sides of the center piece with a ch 1 (the pointed ends) will be at the sides of the scarf. Sew the center piece evenly to each end (there should be no stitches into the ch 1 space), using the long tails on the end pieces.

Make 2 large pom poms (or use pre-made poms). Attach tightly to the skipped ch space at the center of the 1st row at each end.
