For many Americans, recycling bottles, cans, plastic containers and paper is one simple way to “do the right thing.” But did you know that used engine oil can be recycled? Over three billion quarts of oil are consumed in U.S. cars and trucks each year. Using re-refined (or recycled) oil cuts fossil fuel use, lowers emissions and reduces environmental impact versus oils made without recycled content. It also helps ensure used oil doesn’t find its way into our water supply, where it can have a myriad of harmful effects. Since oil doesn’t completely wear out (it simply gets dirty), used oil can be re-refined to give it new life. Valvoline has taken advantage of the latest innovative manufacturing processes to create NextGen TM , a breakthrough motor oil made up of 50 percent recycled oil that is better for the environment and great for your engine. Combining only the best base oils with the company’s award-winning additive chemistry, Valvoline has created a recycled motor oil so good, it surpasses all industry specifications and delivers 100 percent Valvoline protection. < NextGen Oil Provides the Same Protection as Valvoline Conventional Oil For Using NextGen is only part of the cycle, though. Here are things to know about motor oil recycling and how to play a part: Help Conserve Our Resources: • The more you recycle, the more used motor oil there is to create re-refined oil and lessen our dependency on foreign and other crude oil sources. • The use of recycled oil significantly cuts down on energy use as compared to the process of drilling and refining crude oil from the ground. • If every American switched to NextGen, more than 400 million gallons of crude oil would be saved every year - that is enough oil to lay barrels end-to-end stretching from Los Angeles to New York City and back! Properly Dispose of Your Used Motor Oil: • Place used motor oil in a clean plastic container with a tight lid. • Never store used oil in a container that once held chemicals, food or beverages. • Oil should not be mixed with anything else, such as antifreeze, solvent or paint. • Take used motor oil to an automotive retailer or other location that collects used motor oil for recycling. Recycle Your Oil Filter: • Oil filters are also recyclable because they’re made of steel. • Recycling oil filters sold annually in the U.S. would recover about 160,000 tons of steel – enough to make 16 stadiums the size of Atlanta’s Olympic Stadium. Using NextGen is only part of the cycle, though. Here are things to know about motor oil recycling and how to play a part:

Help Conserve Our Resources:• The more you recycle, the more used motor oil there is to create re-refined oil and lessen our dependency on foreign and other crude oil sources.• The use of recycled oil significantly cuts down on energy use as compared to the process of drilling and refining crude oil from the ground.• If every American switched to NextGen, more than 400 million gallons of crude oil would be saved every year - that is enough oil to lay barrels end-to-end stretching from Los Angeles to New York City and back!
