From the Principal’s desk…
Last Friday we held our PBL Colour Run,
which students earned at the end of Term 4
2017. Mrs Jackson planned a fantastic obstacle
course for students to run through which
included colour stations where staff sprayed
students with powder in the PBL colours of
green, blue and pink. The look of joy on the
faces of students from Kinder to Year 12 was
amazing, as many experienced their first
colour run. It was an exciting day all round,
with students reaching the first tier of rewards
for PBL in 2018 during Friday morning’s
assembly. All students will be treated to
morning tea next Wednesday, which I’m sure
they will thoroughly enjoy.
This week we welcomed Miss Rebecca Pettit to
the school. Miss Pettit is currently studying
Secondary PE and English teaching and is
completing her three week teaching
experience at Ungarie Central School. We
hope she enjoys her time at UCS.
Congratulations to Harry
Roscarel who was successful
in gaining a position on the
Western basketball team. He
will compete in the state
basketball carnival in
Tamworth in May. Great
effort Harry!
On Tuesday, our primary boys AFL team
competed at the western division
knockout/trials in West Wyalong. The boys
looked great in our new guernseys, which we
purchased in 2017 with funding that was
organised by the Western School Sports
Association. With Mr Cattle as coach and Miss
Pettit as Assistant Coach, the boys were
victorious on the day. The team will now play
in the next round, in Parkes during week 9,
where they will also trial for the Western AFL
team. Congratulations boys.

This week we have a number of students
competing at the Western Swimming Carnival
in Dubbo. Good luck to our secondary students
for Thursday and our primary students for
Friday.
Next week, most of our Year 10 students will
be on work experience at a number of locations
in West Wyalong, Ungarie and Lake
Cargelligo. We look forward to hearing about
their experiences when they return in week 9.
Until next week

SCHOOL HAPPENINGS
On Wednesday 7th March, Andrew Cullen (AFL NSW/ACT) from Griffith came to our school to do some coaching clinics with our primary students. This was organised to tie in with the unveiling of the "Big Football" in Bing Wallder Park. Andrew put our kids through various drills, which they all enjoyed thoroughly. As an extra bonus for our students, Chris Daniher also came in and talked to all our students about his football journey from Ungarie, culminating with Grand Final appearances for Essendon on the MCG. Thank you Andrew for the fun skill session and Chris for the interesting story of your football life! A BIG THANK YOU TO WORKERS. The Ungarie Advancement Group & Garden Group want to send a BIG thank
you to all the workers who helped clean up Ungarie in preparation for last
weekend.
On Saturday 3rd March, a large group of volunteers gathered in town to
tidy the garden beds, mow, brush cutter, and remove rubbish from the main
street and Showground.
Then on Sunday 4th March, volunteers again fronted up to pick up rubbish
as our contribution to Clean Up Australia Day. The volunteers concentrated
their efforts on the Ungarie-West Wyalong Road, and were responsible for
removing approximately 6 trailer loads of bottles, cans and general rubbish
from the roadside at the entrance of town.
So thank you once again to all those hard working people, and thank you also
to the Majestic Café for providing refreshments for the volunteers.
