She led “Happy Birthday” to PP Ley and to John Morelock, also having a birthday. Bob Dill introduced our Back the Blue honoree, Capt. Chuck Gore. He is an arson investigator. He also remarked that Michael Rainwater was extending Dentistry with a Heart to the veter-ans on Friday and Saturday. Bob Patton in-troduced our visiting Rotarians and guests. PP Greg Pape reminded us that he ho-ped all RCPC members would contribute to the RI Foundation this year. Tree shifts on November 16- 19.PP Ley Waggoner introduc-

ed our speaker today, Robert Hall who spoke on a relational Leader-ship in a Disengaged World. He

said that as a recovering CEO, he realizes that relationships are crucial to effective leadership. He is now working with homeless families. People do not become homeless when then run out of

money, but when they lose their last relation-ship. There is a cumulative effect of broken relationships that begin at home but go on to effect the workplace and then the culture. He referenced a New York Times article about the break down of order in an elephant herd when the elders were no longer in the herd; the situ-ation was remedied when some older bull ele-phants were introduced to the herd. He then asked where we saw disruption in our own cul-ture. He quoted that "Culture eats strategy for lunch.". Disengaged relationships lead to low-ered trust and a toxic environment. The new disengagement economy is the new abnormal. Our economy, emotions and society are the cost of broken relationships at home, work, politics and faith. We often think of relation-ships as soft, without hard data, but that is not true. The U.S. leads the world in fatherless children and divorce rate has doubled.

THOUGHTS ON . . .

Good coaches teach respect for the opposition, love of competition, the value of trying your best, and how to win and lose graciously.

~ Brooks Clark Success in business requires training and discipline and hard work. But if you're not frightened by these things, the opportunities are just as great today as they ever were. ~ David RockefellerSelecting the right person for the right job is the largest part of coaching. ~ Philip CrosbyThe only real training for leadership is leadership. ~ Anthony JayWe ought not to look back unless it is to derive useful lessons from past errors, and for the purpose of profiting by dear-bought experi-ence. ~ George Washington
