Queen Sariah Yackee and her courtwere hoping for no rain. Not only did royal-

ty get their wish, but the Wauseon Indiansmade their night even sweeter with a 40-0

win over the Patrick Henry Patriots.

Wauseon wasted little time showingthat they were there for business. On their

initial possession that covered 60 yardsin seven plays, Zac Robinson covered the

nal 32 of those yards to pay dirt. JoshWhitcomb added the point, and the Indi-

ans were up 7-0 with 9:29 remaining. It

was the winning combination of Robinsonto Jacob Newlove that helped the drive

along as well. Robinson found Newlovewith two straight receptions totaling 25

yards.Patrick Henry's offense was up against

perhaps the best defense in the league.

The NWOAL's leading ground gainerthrough ve games, Donny Johnson who

had amassed 508 yards, was turned ev-

ery which way but lose. Johnson was heldto just 42 yards in 18 carries. The seniorleadership Anthony Werder Noah Castle,

Peyten Shadbolt, Nate Suntken, Derek

Rupp allowed the Patriots rusher just 31yards on 28 carries and total offense of 93

yards.Meanwhile, while the Patriots were feel-

ing the wrath, the Indians offense took fulladvantage as their second possession re-

sulted in another score. This drive, a nine-

play 58 yard march, was complete withthree Robinson passes. Two to Zach John-

son totaling 18 yards, and a short dump

off pass to Newlove for ve yards. Robinsonfound the end zone again from one yard

out. The extra point was missed and the

Indians were up 13-0 with 5:08 left to playin the opening quarter.

Again, there was no room for the Pat-rick Henry Offense to run as their drive re-

sulted in a punt.Wauseon's third possession of the

night started strong as Robinson found his

tight end Noah Castle for a 16 yard pickup. But the Patriots' defense was able to

stop the drive as the rst quarter ended.Sounding like a broken record, the Pa-

triots were again three plays and out tostart the second quarter. Mason Creager,

turning into an exciting punt returner, ne-

gated a nice Patriots punt by returning it37 yards giving the Indians offense great

eld position at the Patrick Henry 20 yardline. It took Wauseon just ve plays to

cover the distance. Robinson found Cas-tle for a seven-yard touchdown pass. The

two-point conversion failed and the lead

expanded to 19-0 with 6:09 left in the half.The Patriots put together their longest

drive of the half on their next possession.After eight plays, however, the drive stalled.

Another nice punt return from Creager for19 yards put the ball on the Wauseon 42

for another crack by the offense. What

followed was Wauseon's rst three-and-out of the game. Suntken's punt gave the

Patriots possession at their own 18 yardline. After gaining a net of one yard, Pat-

rick Henry was forced into another punt.

Taking the ball over at the Patriot 49, Rob-inson completed passes to Newlove and

Castle to help move the ball down to the 3

yard line. Robinson scored on the seventhplay of the drive and Wauseon was roiled

to a 26-0 lead after Whitcomb split the up-

rights with :32 left in the second.The Patriots had an eight-play drive to

start the second half action. They man-aged two rst downs on the drive, but as

was the story of the night, they were forcedinto another punt. Again Creager helped to

put the Indians in good eld position. This

time the junior speedster returned the ball34 yards to the Patriots 45.

The Indians needed just ve plays tocover the 45 yards. Robinson found Cre-

ager for two straight pass receptions for13 yards. Then on a third and seven from

the Patriots 23, Robinson broke free and

scored his fth straight touchdown of thenight to make it a 33-0 lead with Whit-

comb's extra point with 6:40 remaining inthe third stanza. The lead led teams to fol-

low the new OHSAA rule of a running clockthe remainder of the game.

The Indians' defense added points to

the scoreboard on Patrick Henry's nextoffensive series. Senior Peyten Shadbolt

made his homecoming game special pick-

ing off a Mitch Bonner pass and returningthe ball for a 'pic six'. That drove the score

to the nal tally of 40-0 with 4:18 left toplay.

From beginning to end Wauseon ranaway with the statistical race. Robinson

was 15 of 21 passes for 155 yards and 1

touchdown. The senior signal caller wasalso the leading rusher with 56 yards on

14 carries and 4 touchdowns.Wauseon's offense ran 59 to PH's 39.

Total offense was 265 to 93 in favor of theIndians.

Now the focus of the Indians turns to

the Delta Panthers. Wauseon will travelto the home of the Panthers Friday for the

clash of the titans. Both teams enter thegame tied for the league lead with overall

records of 6-0.

CORRECTIONS & CLARIFICATIONS

(October 3rd, 2014)-GIBSONBURG:

Giving up most of its points in the rst

half, the Edon defense put their offense ina hole early into the game. The result was

a 62-35 loss.To be fair, the Bomber offensive assault

trailed off in the second half, creating only

8 points, but those 35 total points dis-played a strong showing by the Edon boys

on the road. It should also be mentionedthat the Golden Bears scored only 14 of

their points in the last two periods as well,so adjustments were made to rectify the is-

sues of the rst half.

Allowing 388 yards rushing and 7touchdowns on 43 carries made things dif-

cult for the Bombers, though.

Comparatively, Edon ran for 66 yardsin 24 attempts, though they found the endzone 3 times on the ground as well. Senior

quarterback Kaden Sapp rushed 16 times

for 81 yards and all three of those touch-downs, meaning some Bomber rushers

were caught behind the line of scrimmage.Sapp mostly moved the ball through

the air, however, going 21-38 on his wayto amassing 259 yards and 2 touchdowns.

He also threw 2 interceptions on the night.

Freshman Landon Bloir was his target ofchoice for most of the evening, bringing in

7 balls for 136 and both of Sapps touch-down tosses.

Edon lost the turnover battle against

Gibsonburg, coughing the ball up 5 timeswhile the Golden Bears refused to do so

even once.It should be noted that Gibsonburg is a

really strong team, and a force in the To-ledo Area Athletic Conference. Improving

to 6-0 on the season, and 3-0 in the TAAC,

the Golden Bears have played well all sea-son.

Getting off to a poor start defensivelyreally hindered the Bombers in this game.

Giving up 48 points in the rst half put alot of pressure on the Edon offense, who

scored enough points to, at the very least,

keep the game close.Perhaps the silver lining of this game for

Edon is that they seemed to have guredout how to slow down that Golden Bear

rushing attack. Run defense has been anissue all season long, but they may just

have found a way to rectify that issue.

This week, the Bombers travel to WestUnity to do battle with old foe Hilltop.

CONTINUATION OF FOOTBALL ACTION

THE VILLAGE REPORTER

(October 3rd, 2014)-MONTPELIER: Be-

ing forced to rely on a back up quarter-back, particularly when the sixth ranked

team in the state is lining up on oppositeside of scrimmage, is never a good thing.

Throw in the pressures of Homecoming,and it's easy to see how the game mightget out of hand.

Giving up 56 points in the game, whilescoring none on their own accord, it's safe

to say this was the case for the Locomo-tives as they took on the Delta Panthers

Friday night. With Cody Caudill again tak-

ing up the mantle of starting quarterbackin the absence of Dylan Snyder, for the

second week in a row, Montpelier's offensejust couldn't gain any traction.

After running just one play less thanthe visiting Panthers, 42 to 43, the Locos

had only 100 yards of total offense to show

for itself, compared to the 448 amassed by

Delta.

Caudill led the aerial attack for Mont-pelier, going 5-17 for 49 yards and 2 in-

terceptions. Keaton Byers caught 2 of

those passes, racking up 29 of those yardsfor himself. Also with 2 receptions on the

night was Nate McCord, who had 6 yardsoff the catches. Alex Zuver was the recipi-

ent of the other Caudill completion, gain-ing 14 yards on the play.

The running game, of which Montpe-

lier's offense is especially dependant, wasnot there for the Locomotives. Dallas Roy-

er rushed for 3 yards on 7 attempts, whileJordan Birdsall was handed the ball twice

for -2 yards. Caudill himself struggled torun the ball, and avoid the Panther pass

rush as well, losing 12 yards on 10 rushes.

In fact, nearly the entirety of the Lo-cos 51 yards rushing came on their nal

possession of the game, after the startershad been removed from either team. Aus-

tin Grubb looked impressive on that drive,

earning 38 yards on just 2 carries. Bryce

Cooley made signicant gains as well,rushing for 24 yards on 4 attempts.

Defensively, Montpelier had no answer

for Delta. Rushing for 391 yards in 38 at-tempts, the Panthers averaged over 10

yards a carry. Completing just 2 out of 5passes, the visitors from Delta still man-

aged to make 57 yards through the air,with one of those completions going for a

touchdown. The Locomotives caught the

Delta offense behind the line of scrimmagejust once, with Hunter McKelvey making

the tackle.To put it simply, the Locomotive of-

fense is not the same without Dylan Sny-

der. Caudill does what he can, attempting

to make plays with his feet as well as hisarm, but he's a wide receiver. He's going

to struggle as long as he's behind center.

And while it's true that the Montpelier de-fense still wouldn't have been able to slow

the Panther attack down, it's possiblethat a more effective Locomotive defense

may have been able to limit their touchesthroughout the game.

Montpelier will have to put this game

out of their minds in a hurry, as a muchimproved Swanton team will be making

their way into Montpelier this Friday.

Montpelier Locos JV FootballTeam Blasts Evergreen

(September 27th, 2014): Still yet to

be beaten, the Locomotive Junior Varsity

Football Team continued its hot start tothe season by defeating Evergreen. The

NWOAL opponent found itself outmatchedby Montpelier, who won by a convincing 16

point margin.It was the Loco offense that ruled the

day, putting up an impressive 44 points

against the Viking defense. Evergreen

themselves were able to nd the end zonefour times, but those 28 points weren't

enough to keep pace with Montpelier.The victory improves the Montpelier

Junior Varsity incarnation to 4-0 on theseason.

Wauseon JV Shut Out Archbold(September 27th, 2014): In Wauseon,

kids don't play cowboys and indians. In-

stead, the Indians have always done battleagainst the Blue Streaks in back yards

across the area.As kids grow up and advance through

school, those games leave the realm of

fantasy and become reality. Thus wasthe case when the junior varsity incarna-

tion of the Wauseon Indians took on thoseBlue Streaks from Archbold in an NWOAL

grudge match.With a perfect 3-0 record on the line,

the Indians challenged their rivals on the

eld of play. In a lopsided affair, Wauseondominated the game, moving the ball at

will and refusing the same courtesy back toArchbold. In fact, holding the Blue Streaks

scoreless, the Wauseon defense didn't al-low their opponents to do much at all.

When it was all said and done, it was

the Indians of Wauseon who stood victori-ous over Archbold, 28-0. The Indians im-

proved to 4-0 on the season with the con-vincing victory.

One couldn't imagine a more perfectvictory in their back yard.

Wauseon JV Defeats Patrick Henry(October 4th, 2014): It was in convinc-

ing fashion that the Wauseon Junior Var-sity Football Team defeated the Patriots of

Patrick Henry.Generating 34 points of offense, the

Indians had no problem moving the ball.Given that they only allowed the Patriots

to nd the end zone a single time, resulting

in 8 points after a two-point conversion,those 34 points were more than enough to

earn the win.The victory improves Wauseon's record

to 5-0 on the season.

Stryker Wins Five GameBattle With North Central

(September 30th, 2014)-PIONEER: Anepic struggle took place in Pioneer.

Relying on stellar performances fromAudra Rupp, who had 10 kills, 7 aces, and

5 blocks, and Maddie Uribes, with her 14assists, 5 kills, 2 blocks, and 1 ace, the

Lady Panthers from Stryker were able to

pull off a trying ve set victory against thehometown Eagles of North Central.

Coming up just short, the Lady Eagleswere led by Cady VanDeVoorde and her 16

kills, along with Rachel Oxender, who setup the North Central offense with a stun-

ning 32 assists. Not to mention Makalya

Hayes with 12 kills and 7 blocks.With a 20-25 win in game 1, Stryker

took an early lead in the series. The NorthCentral girls refused to go down another,

however, as they claimed a hard foughtgame 2 26-24. Bouncing back, the Lady

Panthers continued the seesaw affair with

a 25-11 win in game 3. The fourth set wastaken by the Eagles, who again one a tight

game 25-23. With the nality of a game5 hanging over both team's heads, it was

Stryker who emerged from the pressurecooker with a 15-3 win to claim the match.

Pettisville Invades Fayette Court(September 30th, 2014)-FAYETTE: Pet-

tisville added another win to their Buckeye

Border Conference total, improving their

record to 13-5 overall and 7-0 in the BBCafter defeating Fayette on their own court.

With her 30 digs, Stephanie Hubbyplayed a vital role in the win. Teammates

Jordyn Pursel and Dana Fricke each re-corded 10 kills to lead the Blackbird at-

tack, while Pursel added 15 digs of her

own as well. Their efforts helped Pettisville

earn a victory in straight sets.After losing game 1 6-25, Fayette at-

tempted to rally their way back into the

match. The Lady Eagles fell just short, los-ing the second game 19-25. Pettisville took

over the series from the start of game 3,taking the set 6-25 to win the match.

Michaela Bates made 6 kills and 7 digsfor the Eagles, while Kaela Seiler had 16

digs. Hannah Machacek had 7 digs, 6 as-

sists, and 1 kill in the loss.

Stryker Panthers WinEndurance Test With Hilltop

(October 2nd, 2014)-STRYKER: With11 blocks, 9 kills, and 7 aces, it was Audra

Rupp who led the way for Stryker in theirremarkable comeback against Hilltop.

In a match that went to ve sets, the

Lady Panthers found themselves on thewrong end of back to back 25-22 scores

and on the verge of losing the contest. Yetthey fought back against the Lady Cadets,

claiming game 3 25-19, and game 4 25-18to force a fth and nal game. Playing as

though the match depended on it, which

it did, both sides gave it their all. Strykerwas able to slip past the Lady Cadets for

the win, 15-13.The 17 assists of Maddie Uribes were

vital to the Panther victory effort, along

with her 8 kills and 2 blocks. BrittanyBreier added 9 kills in the win as well.

Cadet Ariana Brown led the team inkills with 12, also contributing 3 blocks

and 2 digs. Baylee Schmitt gave the LadyCadets 20 assists, while Allie Schmitt add-

ed 19 digs, 11 kills, and an ace in the loss.

Edon & Edgerton Girls ExperiencePassion Of Rivalry Firsthand

(October 2nd, 2014)-EDGERTON: Noone wants to be on the losing end of a ri-

valry game.Sure, losing in general is a horrible or-

deal for any athlete, but there is an extra

layer of disappointment to facing defeatat the hands of one's most hated enemy.

A layer they don't even know exists untilcoming to the brink of experiencing it rst

hand.That was the situation in which Edon

found themselves against Edgerton.An early loss in the match had the Lady

Bombers playing catch up early, as they

fell in game 1 22-25. Game 2 saw the girlsfrom Edon even the series out with a 25-

15 win. Again, however, the Lady Bulldogswere able to take a 25-22 victory, this time

in the third set. Not willing to suffer thatmost awful of defeats, Edon took the next

two sets, 25-19 and 15-12 respectively to

claim the match and defeat their rival.Balance is the word to best describe the

performance of Alex Kiess, as the Edon girlhad 15 kills, 23 assists, and 9 digs. Team-

mate Kaela Gearhart was busy setting herteammates up all evening, recording an

astounding 32 assists in addition to 3 digsand an ace. Leading the Bombers in bothkills and digs was Nicole Newell with 15

and 13, respectively.

Pettisville Takes Down North Central(October 2nd 2014)-PIONEER: It can

be a tall order hosting the Pettisville Lady

Blackbirds, especially for their Buckeye

Border Conference competition. This wasthe task bestowed upon the Lady Eagles of

North Central on Thursday.Thanks to Jordyn Pursel and her 12

kills, 10 digs, and 3 aces, the Lady Black-birds controlled the road match through-

out. Earning game 1 with a 25-10 win, Pet-

tisville took game 2 as well, 25-6. With nocomplacency whatsoever, the Blackbirds

won game 3 25-11 to claim the match.

With 10 kills, 8 digs, 6 kills, and anace, Dana Fricke played a vital role in the

Blackbird victory. Stephanie Hubby's 20

digs and Kate Kauffman's 15 assists setthe stage for Pursel and Fricke to attack

the net all evening long.Keely Shaw worked the net for the Lady

Eagles, recording 4 blocks and 2 kills. Add-ing 5 assists, Rachel Oxender served as

the lynchpin of the North Central attack.

Teammate Alyssa Swank connected on 8passes and had 4 digs in the losing effort .

Edon Bombers Win OnThe Road Against Hilltop

(September 30th, 2014)-WEST UNITY:As the Bombers of Edon arrived at Hilltop's

gym, the Lady Cadets knew it would be achallenge to defend their home court.

Sporting a 12-5 record overall, with a6-1 in the Buckeye Border Conference,the Lady Bombers have established them-

selves as a force in the area. That beingsaid, the Lady Cadets didn't back down,

battling the visiting girls of Edon until theend of the match.

Edon got off to a strong start, taking

game 1 25-16, though the Cadets beganto nd their stride late into the set. Taking

Edon beyond the 25 point mark in game 2,Hilltop just barely lost the set 24-26. The

Lady Bombers pulled away late in the thirdgame, winning the set and the match 25-

17.Nicole Newell served as Edon's work-

Montpelier Locos Lose HardFought Battle With Bryan

(October 2nd, 2014)-MONTPELIER:Hannah Blake did a bit of everything for

Montpelier in their game against Bryan,making 10 kills, 13 assists, 13 digs, and

3 aces on the evening. Despite that well

rounded effort, the Lady Locos still lost instraight sets to the Golden Bears, though

that is hardly indicative to the level of playdisplayed by the Montpelier girls.

The rst set was a slug fest, with nei-ther side willing to relent. The girls of

Bryan were able to gain just enough sepa-

ration to claim victory, winning the game25-21. Game 2 was even tighter, with the

Locomotives dropping the set 23-25. Onthe brink of losing the series, Montpelier

continued to play at a high level. Yet Bryan

was able to fend them off, as the Locomo-tive girls fell 24-26 to lose the match.

Landri McKelvey had a strong showingfor Montpelier in the loss, making 15 as-

sists, 12 digs, 5 kills, and 2 aces. SidneyHouk and Christy Duchene each recorded

21 digs for the Locos as well.

Stryker Panthers WinEndurance Test With Hilltop

(October 2nd, 2014)-STRYKER: With11 blocks, 9 kills, and 7 aces, it was Audra

Rupp who led the way for Stryker in theirremarkable comeback against Hilltop.

In a match that went to ve sets, theLady Panthers found themselves on the

wrong end of back to back 25-22 scores

and on the verge of losing the contest. Yetthey fought back against the Lady Cadets,

claiming game 3 25-19, and game 4 25-18to force a fth and nal game. Playing as

though the match depended on it, which

it did, both sides gave it their all. Strykerwas able to slip past the Lady Cadets for

the win, 15-13.The 17 assists of Maddie Uribes were

vital to the Panther victory effort, alongwith her 8 kills and 2 blocks. Brittany

Breier added 9 kills in the win as well.

Cadet Ariana Brown led the team inkills with 12, also contributing 3 blocks

and 2 digs. Baylee Schmitt gave the LadyCadets 20 assists, while Allie Schmitt add-

ed 19 digs, 11 kills, and an ace in the loss.

Edon Defeats Fayette In Four Sets(October 2nd, 2014)-EDON: Given their

7-1 record in the Buckeye Border Confer-ence, Edon can make for an intimidating

host for league opponents. That was notthe case when Fayette came to town, how-

ever.With 12 kills apiece, Jessie Wheeler and

Michaela Bates led the Lady Eagles into

battle, with McKenzee Schaffner and Han-

nah Machacek did most of the dirty workwith 44 digs and 29 assists, respectively.

Despite such efforts, Fayette fell to

Edon on that day. Yet the ght they dis-

played was admirable, taking the Bombersto four sets on their own court.

Edon took the rst game of the series in

a difcult 25-17 set. The excitement of thatwin propelled the Edon girls to a 25-11

win. With their backs against the wall, theLady Eagles mounted a come back, earn-

ing a game 3 victory 25-20. They couldn'tcomplete the rally, however, as Edon n-

ished the match with a 25-17 win to take

the match.

Kaitlin Chrisman nailed 4 aces for theBombers, also making 7 digs and 4 kills.Nicole Newell led Edon in both kills and

digs with 13 and 12 respectively. The 22

assists made by Kaela Gearhart was also abest for the Bombers on the evening.

Making the trek to Ayersville, the LadyPanthers readied themselves for a difcult

match.Even still, despite 5 kills and an ace by

Audra Rupp, 4 kills and 2 aces from Brit-

tany Breier, and 5 assists by Allie Frisbe,Stryker couldn't nd a way to steal a win

on the road against the Pilots.

At the start of the match, the Strykergirls found themselves down. They lost

game 1 13-25. Mustering the momentumfor a comeback proved difcult, and the

Lady Panthers fell short 16-25 in game 2.

Depleted from the loss, Stryker droppedthe third set and the match 10-25.

Wauseon Falls To Springfeld(October 4th, 2014)-WAUSEON: The 21

digs and 3 aces of Sariah Yackee weren'tenough to propel the Lady Indians past the

visiting Springeld team.Springeld got off to a fast start, and

Wauseon quickly found themselves on thelosing end of a 10-25 score. Game 2 saw

the Indians recover a bit, but they were

unable to usurp control of the match away

from Springeld, dropping the last twosets 18-25 and 17-25.

Hayley Chamberlain added 11 assistsfor Wauseon. Kierra Fountain contributed

8 kills, 6 digs, and 2 aces in the losing ef-fort.

spite a strong showing by the Lady Eagles,

Early on, the North Central girls ap-

peared to be a bit over matched, losing

the rst set 10-25. Soaring to a victory in

game 2 proved they could play with theLady Bulldogs, however, as they took the

set 25-23. It was Swanton who securedthe match, though, as the Lady Eagles suf-

fered a 6-25 defeat in game 3.

North Central Eagle JV BeatsStryker In Straight Set

(September 30th, 2014): Riding thegreat performance of Allyson Fenicle, who

made 3 kills and 3 aces on the night, the

Lady Eagles of North Central were declaredthe victors in straight sets against Stryker.

The Lady Panthers fought hard, near-

ly taking game 1 for themselves. Theydropped the set by the slimmest of mar-

gins, 25-23. North Central used the mo-

mentum of that close win to power them-selves through game 2, claiming a 25-13

victory to win the match.

Wauseon Indian JV GoesDown In Three To Lake(September 29th, 2014)-LAKE: A strug-

gle would be the best way to describe it.

Wauseon traveled to Lake, intent onstealing a win from the hometown Flyers.

They played like it, too, though it wasn'tenough.

From game 1, both sides were wrestling

for control. The Lady Indians lost the set

23-25, but continued unabated. That per-

sistence paid off in game 2, as Wauseonclaimed a 25-20 win to force a third game.

A back and forth affair, the Wauseon girlscame up just short in the third set, drop-

ping the game 23-25 to lose the match.

Stryker Panther JV Takes HolgateTo Three Games, Falls Short

(September 29th, 2014)-HOLGATE:

Competing on the road can be quite dif-

cult, particularly for younger players.That didn't stop the Stryker Junior Varsity

Team from challenging the hometown Ti-gers of Holgate.

After dropping the rst game 17-25, the

Lady Panthers battled their way back into

the series with a 25-16 win of their own in

game 2. They gave their all in the third andnal game, but were unable to overcome

the home court advantage of Holgate.Stryker lost the set and the match 16-25.

that the Lady Bombers won in straight sets

is quite deceiving.Inviting the Eagles of Fayette to Edon,

the Bombers Junior Varsity squad put its7-0 Buckeye Border Conference record on

the line. The Lady Eagles weren't intimi-

dated, however, and gave the Edon girls allthey could handle.

A struggle from the offset, the two teams

jockeyed for position in game 1. Fayettebattled hard, but lost a tough set 19-25.

Game 2 saw an even more determinedLady Eagles team come after the Bombers.

Edon was able to hold them off, though,taking a 25-22 victory to claim the match.

Improving to 13-3 overall, Edon re-

mains perfect in the BBC with an 8-0 re-cord.

duel of Junior Varsity teams, Stryker did

battle with the Pilots of Ayersville.

It took three intensity-laden sets, butthe Lady Panthers were able to wrestle

away a victory from Ayersville. The seriesbegan with a loss for Stryker, who fell 18-

25 in game 1. Game 2 saw the Panthersmount a comeback, taking the set 25-21.

In the mandated third set, both teams

fought ferociously, but the girls of Strykerwere able to claim a 25-22 win to take the

match.

Pettisville JV DefeatsNorth Central In Pioneer Nest

(October 2nd 2014)-PIONEER: Swoop-

ing into Pioneer in search of a win, theLady Blackbirds found their quarry in the

North Central gymnasium. Eager to defendtheir nest, the Junior Varsity girls of North

Central gave a valiant effort, but came up

short against their fellow avian team.Setting the tone of the match early on,

the visitors from Pettisville took control in

game 1. They took down the Lady Eagles

25-14. Behind in the match, North Cen-tral attempted to battle back in game 2,

but again struggled to keep pace with theBlackbirds, dropping the second set 15-25.

Edon Bomber JV Flies ByEdgerton In Straight Sets

(October 2nd, 2014) - EDGERTON:

Separated by a few measly miles on StateRoute 49, Edon and Edgerton don't much

care for each other, regardless of age.

Therefore, when the Junior Varsity teamsof the Bombers and Bulldogs got together

in Edgerton, it was a big deal in the area.Improving their stellar record to 14-3

overall, the Lady Bombers were able to se-

cure a victory on their rival's court. Fur-

thermore, they were able to do so in con-vincing fashion, dominating the Bulldogs

in straight sets.

The Edon girls established themselvesearly in the match, taking a 25-10 win in

the rst set. Not slowing doing at all ingame 2, the Bombers won the second set

as well, 25-14.

Stryker Panther JV Tops Hilltop(October 2nd, 2014)-STRYKER: Hosting

the Cadets of Hilltop, the Lady PanthersJunior Varsity girls prepared themselves

for a struggle.While Stryker was able to take down

the Lady Cadets in straight sets, those

two games were comprised of intensity

and competitiveness. The visiting Cadets

took the Panthers to the brink in game 1,narrowly losing the set 24-26. Refusing to

feel demoralized at the close defeat, Hill-top came back strong in game 2 as well.

Still, the Lady Panthers were able to earn a

tough 25-18 win to claim the match.

Montpelier JV Takes Loss To Bryan(October 2nd, 2014)-MONTPELIER: In-

viting neighboring Bryan to their court, theJunior Varsity girls of Montpelier readied

themselves for NWOAL competition. TheLady Locos weren't able to secure a vic-

tory, however, as they fell to the Golden

Bears in straight sets.

were defeated in rst game, 6-25. The girlsof Montpelier regrouped from the game 1

defeat, building momentum in game 2.It wasn't enough, however, as the Locos

town, the Lady Indians of Wauseon were

challenged throughout the match.The rst set saw the Lady Indians fall

to the Vikings 12-25. Attempting to worktheir way back into the match in game

2, the girls of Wauseon fell short. They

dropped the set 19-25 to lose the match.

Pettisville JV Fly OutOf Fayette Nest With Win

(September 30th, 2014)-FAYETTE:Swooping into enemy territory, the Lady

Blackbirds of Pettisville was able to graspvictory within their collective claws.

Hosting the Blackbirds, the FayetteJunior Varsity girls knew they had a chal-

lenge on their hands. They were unable to

defend their home court, however, losingto their guests in straight sets.

Getting off to a slow start, the LadyEagles never quite made a full recovery in

game 1, dropping the set 15-25. Fightingan uphill battle to get back into the match

and force a third game, Fayette fell short ingame 2 25-17.

The victory moves the Pettisville Junior

Varsity record to 10-8, improving to 4-3 inthe Buckeye Border Conference.

With NWOAL opponent Swanton coming to

town, the Locomotive Junior Varsity squaddug in to defend their home court against

the invading Bulldogs. It wasn't enough,however, as the girls of Swanton took down

Montpelier in straight sets.

The Lady Locos got off to a slow start

in the match, dropping the rst set 13-25.Game 2 went similarly, as the Montpelier

girls lost the set 16-25, giving Swanton thewin.

Edon Bomber JV Beats Hilltop

Cadets, Remains Perfect In BBC(September 30th, 2014)-WEST UNITY:

The Edon Junior Varsity Squad improved

to 13-3 overall and a perfect 7-0 in leagueplay as they defeated the Lady Cadets of

Hilltop.Making the trip to West Unity to take on

the Cadets, the Lady Bombers didn't seem

to be bothered by any of the pressure com-monly associated with playing on the road.

Even still, the girls of Hilltop played withpride, challenging their Edon counterparts

late in the match.

Getting off to a slow start, Hilltop suf-fered a devastating loss in the rst set,

dropping the game 8-25. The hometownCadets were able to shake off the defeat,

however, and went toe to toe with theBombers in game 2. The set belonged to

the girls from Edon, though, as they nar-

rowly defeated Hilltop 26-24 to earn thematch and continue their unbeaten streak

within the connes of the Buckeye BorderConference.

With Pettisville ying into town, the Fay-

ette Lady Eagles stood rm to defend theirturf against the Blackbird invasion. And

they were successful, too.Earning a solid victory in game 1 25-17,

the Lady Eagles received a boost in con-dence. It showed in the second set. Fay-

ette was able to capitalize on this energy,taking the game 25-15, and winning the

Panthers from Maumee scoring a goalin each half of play, the Lady Indians of

Wauseon cruised to a three goal victory athome.

Taking 7 shots at the Maumee goal, theWauseon girls were able to put 5 of them

through the net for a 5-2 win. Providing

3 goals herself, Indian freshman JaydelinVasvery led her team to victory in spec-tacular fashion. Marrisa Hull and Lydia

Schmucker each recorded a goal as well.Schumcker also made an assist in the

game, as did Natalie Koenig. WauseonKeeper Hannah Spadafore had 7 saves in

Pettisville Falls To Archbold(October 4th, 2014)-ARCHBOLD: Tak-

ing on the Blue Streaks on their homeeld, Pettisville found themselves shut out

at home on Saturday.Losing by a 3-0 margin, the Blackbirds

couldn't keep pace with Archbold. Indeed,

the hometown Blue Streaks blitzed thePettisville goal with 11 shot attempts in the

game. As a unit, the Blackbirds only man-aged 6 attempts at the home team's net.

Wauseons Storybook SeasonComes To An End At DistrictsFINDLAY After a record setting sea-

son that saw the Wauseon Indians golfteam set numerous records, including

wins in a season and their third consecu-tive NWOAL championship, hopes were

high for a trip to Columbus heading intothe OHSAA Division II Boys District Golf

Tournament held at Red Hawk Run Coun-

try Club on October 2nd. Unfortunatelyfor the Indians the golf course outside of

Findlay was where their dreams of com-peting at the State Golf Tournament came

to an end.

Wauseons golfers battled admirably

to the nish, but were unable to secure aspot among the top two in the nine teameld. The Indians nished 7th overall with

a score of 353.Senior Trevor Dominique completed

his storied high school career with a ne

score of 78 to nish 6th overall in the eld

of 109 golfers and land a spot on the AllDistrict Tournament Team. Junior Brady

Rupp enjoyed a good day as well ending19th overall after shooting an 86. Da-

vid Williams closed the book on his highschool golf story with a 92, while Noah

Stickley and Tyler Clausen posted scores

of 97 and 101 respectively on the verychallenging Red Hawk Run course.

Wauseon concludes their season hav-ing established a new standard for wins

with an overall record of 103-14. Congrat-

Stryker, North Central Fall Short InBid To Qualify For State Tournament

BOWLING GREEN As has been thetrend for the past several years, the area

was well represented at the Division III

Boys District Golf Tournament held atStone Ridge Country Club in Bowling

Green on October 2nd.The Stryker Panthers, fresh off a regular

season that included an undefeated Buck-eye Border Conference Championship, as

well as a Sectional Title, had high hopes

of returning to the State Tournament forthe rst time since 2011. Although putting

up a valiant effort, the Panthers dreams ofa trip to Columbus fell short as the group

nished in 10th place overall in the eld of18 squads after ending with a team score

of 348. Tanner Clingaman led the way forStryker as he red a 79. The score, which

was good enough for ninth place overall,

was just one stroke shy of allowing thesenior to make a return trip to the State

Tourney. Chad Ruffer was next for the Pan-thers as he ended the round in 87 swings.

Hayden Clingaman and Austin Frisbeeposted scores of 91, while Cody Hall closed

out his high school golf career with a 95.

Making an appearance at the DistrictTournament for the fourth consecutive

year, the North Central Eagles were onceagain denied in their quest for the schools

initial trip to the OHSAA Division III StateGolf Tournament. Sophomore David Pinc

carded the low score for North Central witha 88, while classmate Brock Zuver nished

with a 94. Senior Jordan Reeves and Ju-

nior Dakota Pitts had rounds of 97, whileBrady Zuver had an even 100 in his nal

high school golf match. The Eagles n-ished 17th overall with a score of 376.

One other area golfer competed indi-vidually. Montpeliers Hunter Shaull, who

made his second consecutive trip to Dis-

tricts, shot a 91 in his nal high schoolgolf contest.

Unfortunately for the local contingents,the District they participate in is arguably

the toughest in the State having yieldedlast seasons State Champions. The trend

repeated itself this year as the same fourteams are once again advancing to the

state championships that will be held at

North Star Golf Club in Sunbury on Octo-ber 10 and 11.

at the Division II Girls Golf District held onSeptember 28th at Sycamore Springs Golf

Course.

Leading the way was Anna Marshall ofWauseon who nished in 6th place overall

with a round of 82. The junior, who wasmaking her third straight appearance at

the District tournament, failed to quali-fy for a trip to Columbus by a mere two

strokes.Allyson Hutchison of North Central had

a memorable day as well. On her inaugu-ral trip to Districts the sophomore ended

the day in 91 shots, good enough for 18th

place in the eld of 72 golfers.Congratulations to both young ladies.

Hopefully they will be back even better in2015.

North Central Defeats Fayette& Montpelier In BBC Jamboree

(September 30th, 2014)-MONTPELIER:Suburban Golf Course played host to theNorth Central, Montpelier, and Fayette Ju-

nior High Golf Teams in a BBC Jamboreeevent. The Eagles of North Central claimed

rst place in the tri-match with a 187,

while Fayette's own Eagles nished secondby a mere two strokes at 189. Montpelier

took third place, shooting a 215 as a unit.

Chance Boothman of North Centraland Fayette's Noah Brinegar split medalisthonors, with both players ring a 40.

It took 44 strokes for North Central'sJay Garrett to complete the course. Team-

mate Lane Cogswell took 49 swings to n-

ish, while Landon Patten turned in a scoreof 54 to round out the Eagle scoring.

North Central Junior High TakesDown Fayette & Montpelier

(October 2nd, 2014)-STRYKER: It wasthe play of Chance Boothman and Jay

Garrett that lifted the North Central JuniorHigh Golf Team above opponents Fayette

and Montpelier as the three teams played

at Riverside Greens.Both Eagle players shot a 44 to lead

their team to a score of 190. Fayette's team

total of 193 came extremely close to takingthe victory for themselves, whil Montpelier

shot a 218 as a unit.Lane Cogswell red a 50 for North Cen-

tral. Fellow Eagle Hayden Haas contrib-

uted a 52 to complete the North Centralscore.

(October 1st, 2014)-STRYKER: Trenton

Sakos took ninth place in the boys heat,and Emma Zenz eleventh in the girls tolead North Central in the Buckeye Border

Conference Race held at Riverside Greens.Sakos ran an 18:08 to earn his posi-

tion. Two seconds later, at 18:10, fellowEagle Jason Vassar became the tenth run-

ner overall to cross the nish line. Team-

mate Adam Knepper ran a 19:42 to take

twenty-second place. At twenty-fourthplace, Keean Livensparger and his time of19:54 were close behind.

It was a 22:43 that earned Zenz elev-enth. Brooke Schoeld was the next Lady

Eagle to complete the course at 24:34,good for twentieth place. Taylor Harper

took twenty-fth place by running a 25:17.

North Central CompetesIn Edgerton Invitational

(September 27th, 2014)-EDGERTON:Making the long trek from Pioneer, theNorth Central Cross Country Teams ar-

rived in Edgerton ready to run. Against ahighly competitive eld the boys and girls

of North Central had a solid showing at the

event.With just three girls running, the Lady

Eagles were lead by Emma Zenz and hertime of 23:33, good for twenty-eighth place.

Teammate Brooke Schoeld completed the

race with a time of 26:21. At 29:19, fellowEagle Brooklyn Brown crossed the nishline.

Trenton Sakos was the rst Eagle boyto nish the course, doing so in 18:32 to

claim twenty-fourth place. Close behind

was Jason Vassar, who took thirtieth placeby turning in an 18:50. Skyler JoHantgen

ran a 20:22, while Keean Livensparger andNathan Traxler clocked in at 20:26 and

20:39, respectively.

Stryker Runs In Antwerp Invitational(October 4th, 2014)-ANTWERP: The

Panthers of Stryker traveled to Antwerp to

participate in the hosting school's Invita-

tional.For the Stryker boys, it was Israel Agui-

lar who led the way, running a 21:15. Fel-low Panther Trevin Rhoades was but a

second behind at 21:16. Running a 21:37,Dustin Teschke stayed near his teammates

as well. Hunter Lilleholm and Cameron

Frey were the last Panther boys to com-plete the race, as they both did so in 23:03.

Shi'Anna Whitman put up a 22:29 for

the Lady Panthers, making her the rst ofher team to complete the course. Megan

Graber didn't let her teammate get too farahead of her, as she nished with a 22:36.

Paige Speelman ran a 22:54, and, with atime of 25:51, Gabrielle Paxton was the

last of the Stryker girls to cross the line.

Fayette Boys, Pettisville GirlsWin BBC Jamboree In Stryker

(September 30th, 2014)-STRYKER:Skylar Lantz completed the Riverside

Greens Course in 16:25, taking rst placein the Buckeye Border Conference Race.

That nish helped propel Fayette to arst place team nish in the Jamboree.

Christian Suarez and his third place nish

at 17:19 also helped the Eagles, along withteammate Jared Wagner earning a fourth

place nish in 17:28.Pettisville's Kyle Lantz was able to sneak

a second place nish amongst the sea ofEagel runners, running a 17:00 at. Jacob

Hauter added a 17:53 to nish eighth.

Edon's top nisher was Jerry Braun at18:12, good for eleventh place. Coy Dunkle

was the next Bomber to cross the nishline at 18:46 and thirteenth place.

Hilltop's Ben Routhier and RyLee Mc-Cain nished the course in twentieth and

twenty-rst place, respectively. Routhier

clocked in at 19:13, while McCain man-

aged a 19:38.For Stryker, Israel Aguilar ran a 20:42,

while Dustin Teshke followed close behind

for a 20:53 nish.In the girls heat, Alexa Leppelmeier

claimed rst place for Pettisville by runninga 20:09. One second later, fellow Blackbird

Nichole Foor earned second place thanksto her time of 20:10.

Hilltop took third, fourth, and fth

place as Madeleine Routhier at 20:49,Kara Brown at 21:05, and Landrey Brown

at 21:07 nished back to back to back.The Hometown Lady Panthers of Stryk-

er were led by Megan Graber, who nishedthe race in seventh place by turning in a

21:12. Paige Speelman was the next Pan-

ther to cross the line at 22:12.Emillie Keiser guided Fayette with a

sixth place nish at 21:09. Liz Maginn wasnext for the Lady Eagles, running a 23:31

for fourteenth place.Edon's Cameron Lord was the rst

Bomber to complete the course, taking

twelfth place at 23:14. Brenda Harrington,

in fteenth place, ran a 23:59 on theBombers' behalf.

Montpelier Junior High ExcelsAt Edgerton Invitational

(September 27th, 2014)-EDGERTON:Miller Park was quite kind to the girls of

Montpelier.

With all four runners nishing in thetop fteen, the Lady Locos were able to

procure third place at the Edgerton Invi-tational, scoring an 85 as a unit. As the

Invitational hosted thirteen teams in total,that Locomotive team effort seems all the

more striking.

The rst Locomotive to complete thecourse was Brinn Miller, taking seventh

place with a time of 14:52. Thirteenth,fourteenth, and fteenth places all be-

longed to the Locos as well. Running a15:15 netted Gabby Cox thirteenth place,

while Lydia Grime crossed the nish line

just four seconds later, at 15:19, earningfourteenth place. Another four seconds lat-

er, Kimme Engels nished fteenth, clock-ing in at 15:23.

All four Montpelier girls received med-

als for top fteen nishes.Only having three runners on hand for

the event, and going up against a greaternumber of competitors, the junior high

boys of Montpelier were not able to makethe same level of impact to the scoreboard

as their female counterparts. Yet the Loco-

motive runners were able to perform wellindividually.

The fth runner overall to step acrossthe nish line, Loco Matthew McClaine n-

ished the race at 11:17. Next for Montpe-lier was Gage Crisenberry and his time of

13:04, with Daniel Banks rounding out the

Locomotive effort with a 14:11.

Stryker Boys Take Second,Girls Third At BBC Jamboree

(September 30th, 2014)-STRYKER:

Hosting a Jamboree of the Buckeye Bor-der Conference, both the Boys and Girls

Stryker Junior High Cross Country Teamsperformed admirably at the meet.

With 48 total runners, both boys and

girls ran together for the Jamboree.The Lady Panthers earned a third place

nish for the girls. It was the legs of AbigailGrice who carried them there, with a time

15:04. The only other girl on the team, Em-ily Banks completed the course at 18:08.

Leading the Panther boys to a second

place standing, Izayah Ferguson claimedfth place for himself, turning in a time of

12:02. Teammate Logan Boetz took ninthplace by clocking in at 12:43. Fellow Pan-

ther Emanuel Villanueva crossed the n-

ish line just two seconds later, at 12:45,earning tenth place. Just three seconds

after that, Tristan Sampson claimed elev-enth place at 12:48. Thirteenth place also

belonged to the Panthers, as Reece Hallnished the race at 13:07.

Junior High Hilltop TeamSplits Matches Against Delta

(August 26th, 2014)-WEST UNITY: In-

viting the Lady Panthers of Delta onto theirhome court, the Junior High girls of Hill-top prepared themselves for combat. Only

half of the Cadet unit would win the day,however.

It was in impressive fashion that theSeventh Grade Lady Cadets defeated

Delta. In back to back sets, the Panthers

found themselves overwhelmed by Hilltop.Winning game 1 25-11, the young Cadets

saw t to repeat the feat, also taking game

2 by that same score to claim the matchfor themselves.

A harder ght and less pleasant re-

sult awaited the Hilltop Eighth Graders.Dropping game 1 to the Delta girls, Hilltop

found themselves on the wrong end of a16-25 score. Even with a valiant effort to

battle their way back into the match, they

fell short to the Lady Panthers in the sec-ond set 15-25.

Hilltop Cadet Junior HighLoses To Saint Paul

(August 28th, 2014)-NAPOLEON:Marching into Saint Paul's native gym,

the Junior High Lady Cadets were set toinvade the foreign territory. Yet it wasn't

meant to be, as the Hilltop girls were notable to overcome playing on the obstacle of

playing on the road.

Leaving everything they had on thecourt, the Seventh Grade Cadet Squad

made things a struggle for Saint Paul. Af-ter losing the rst set 13-25, the girls from

Hilltop struck back in game 2, taking theset 25-14. In the decisive third set of the

match, the Lady Cadets fell in epic fashion,losing the game 23-25.

Losing in straight sets masked the ef-fort of the Hilltop Eighth Graders. After

battling their way through most of the rst

set, Hilltop stumbled and Saint Paul tookadvantage with a 25-18 victory. A similar

outcome awaited the Cadets in game 2, asthey lost the set and the match 17-25.

Hilltop Junior High HostsEdgerton, Splits Matches(September 2nd, 2014)-WEST UNITY:

They may have been taken to a third and

nal set, but the Seventh Grade Lady Ca-dets were able to successfully defend theirhome court against the invading forces of

Edgerton.Both Hilltop Junior High Squads were

challenged by the visiting Bulldogs, with

varying results. The Eigthth Grade CadetUnit struggled mightily in the match, un-

able to nd a rhythm throughout. Drop-ping the rst set 7-25, the hometown girls

couldn't regroup for game 2. They weretaken down by Edgerton 4-25 in the sec-

ond set, losing the match itself.After a strong showing in game 1, claim-ing a 25-16 victory over the Bulldogs, the

Cadet Seventh Graders found themselvesdown early in the second set. The youth-

ful girls of Hilltop lost game 2 11-25. With

a third game becoming necessary, Hilltopresponded with poise and determination,

winning a back and forth affair with theEdgerton girls, 25-19.

Hilltop Junior High MarchesOut Of Fayette With Victory

(September 4th, 2014)-FAYETTE: In

their rst battle for the Buckeye Border,the Junior High Lady Cadets of Hilltop

were each able to secure a conference winearly into the season against Fayette.

After opening the year with three

straight losses, the Hilltop Eighth Graderswere nally able to achieve a win against

the Lady Eagles. The road to victory wasnot an easy one, however. Gaining an ad-

vantage in the match by winning a hard

fought game 1, 25-16, the second set was

a battle for Hilltop. Fayette rallied in an ef-

fort to force a third game, but fell short 19-25, giving the Lady Cadets that rst win of

the season.Earlier in the evening, the Seventh

Grade Cadets and Eagles squared off. Un-

able to keep pace with their Hilltop coun-terparts, the Fayette girls fell behind early

into the match and ever quite recovered.Losing the rst set 8-25, the Lady Eagles

dropped game 2 10-25.

Hilltop's Grounded Attack, Edon'sAerial Assault Split Victories

(September 11th, 2014)-WEST UNITY:

Fresh off their rst win of the season, the

Eighth Grade girls of Hilltop added a sec-ond to their collection, this time against

Edon.

Before that, however, the SeventhGrade incarnations of the Cadets andBombers met on the former's home court.

In a match that exhausted all three games,

the Edon girls got off to a hot start as theyclaimed the rst set 25-14. Refusing to get

swept up in the Lady Bomber momentum,

Hilltop earned a difcult victory in game

2 by the narrowest of margins, 25-22. A

game 3 was needed to determine the win-ner of the match, and both sides played

like it, with Edon just barely taking the set

and the match 25-22.With the excitement of the rst match

at an end, the Eighth Grade match was

decidedly more decisive. The Lady Bomb-

ers battled hard, but the girls from Hill-top were able to fend off their invasion in

straight sets of 25-15.

Hilltop Lady Cadets FendOff Bryan Golden Bears(September 15th, 2014)-WEST UNITY:

It was in dramatic fashion that the EighthGrade girls of Hilltop earned their third

straight victory, this time against the Gold-

en Bears of Bryan.Thanks to a 25-16 win in game 1, the

Lady Cadets enjoyed an early advantage.Yet Bryan came back ercely, taking the

second set 25-12. As the third and nalgame played on, it became readily appar-

ent that neither side had any intentionof backing down. When the dust cleared,

however, there could only be one winner,

and that winner was Hilltop by the slim-mest of margins, 26-24.

That match was preceded by Seventh

Grade action, though. After an extremelyclose game 1, which saw the Lady Cadets

obtain a 26-24 victory, the second gameproved a much lighter fare. Hilltop took the

set 25-7 to win the match.The victory improves the Seventh Grade

Cadets to 4-2 on the season.

Hilltop Junior High Defeats StrykerIn Back To Back Showdowns

(September 16th, 2014)-STRYKER:

For the rst time this year, after startingthe season with three straight losses, the

Eighth Grade Lady Cadets have more wins

than losses.With both Junior High teams making

the trip to Stryker, the elder Cadets had towait their turn to play. The Seventh Grade

game was a back and forth affair, using allthree sets to pick a winner. The hometown

Panthers bounced back from a 25-15 de-

feat in game 1, staking their claim into the

second game with a 25-21 victory. Game

3 belonged to the visiting Cadets, though,taking the set and the match 25-11.

The Lady Cadet Eighth Graders wasted

no time in their match with Stryker, gar-nering a 25-18 win in game 1. Ever resil-

ient, the Lady Panthers came roaring backin the second set with a 25-16 victory,

forcing a third game. A terric battle en-sued, with the visiting Cadets just edging

out Stryker 25-20 to claim the match.

Hilltop & North CentralSplit Junior High Matches

(September 18th, 2014)-WEST UNITY:

Spreading their wings in West Unity, theJunior High Lady Eagles of North Central

set off to face Buckeye Border Conferencefoe Hilltop on the Cadets own court.

It was with relative ease that the Sev-

enth Grade Hilltop girls defended theirhome court. The difculties of playing on

the road were a bit much for the young-er incarnation of Eagles, as they dropped

game 1 9-25 and game 2 10-25, allowing

the hometown Cadets to achieve victory forthe match.

Such success was not replicated by theEighth Grade Cadets, however. Engaging

in an epic struggle to claim the rst set,

Hilltop fell to the Lady Eagles 20-25. Thevisiting girls of North Central pulled away

from their hosts in game 2, earning a 25-14 victory to take the match.

Pettisville Junior High FallsTo Neighbor Archbold

(September 29th, 2014)- Both the Sev-

enth and Eighth Grade girls of Pettisvillewere unable to steal a win away from the

neighboring Blue Streaks. Each matchended in a straight set victory for Arch-

bold, despite a valiant showing by the Lady

Blackbirds.Dropping to 8-4 on the season, the

Eighth Grade Blackbird girls just couldn'tget things going against Archbold. The

Lady Blue Streaks took control right away,as Pettisville dropped game 1 13-25. Un-

able to recover, they lost game 2 as well,

16-25.

The rst game of the Seventh Gradegame played out quite similarly to the

Eighth Grade one, with Pettisville losingthe set 13-25. In a herculean effort, howev-

er, the Lady Blackbirds came back strong

in game 2, taking the Blue Streaks to theirvery limits. It wasn't enough, though, as

the girls from Pettisville were defeated bythe narrowest of margins 26-28.

The Pettisville Seventh Grade Squad isnow 6-6 for the year.

Pettisville Blackbird Junior HighDefeats Fayette In BBC Match(September 30th, 2014)- In Junior High

Buckeye Border Conference action, theLady Blackbirds of Pettisville did battle

with the Fayette Lady Eagles. It was Pet-tisville who found themselves victorious in

both Seventh and Eighth Grade games.The Lady Blackbirds set the pace in the

Seventh Grade game, and never relented.

A 25-12 score indicated a Pettisville winin game 1. Fayette improved in game 2,

but couldn't get over the hump, as they

dropped the set 15-25, giving the match to

Pettisville in straight sets.Fayette had a better showing in the

Eighth Grade game, despite nding them-selves down a set with a 13-25 loss in

game 1. The second set belonged to theLady Eagles, as they wrestled a 25-23 vic-tory away from Pettisville. The Lady Black-

birds pulled away in game 3, though, andthey came away with a 25-13 win to take

the match.

Stryker Takes Down North CentralIn Junior High BBC Match

(September 30th, 2014): It was the LadyPanthers who came away victorious in

both matches of the Junior High BuckeyeBorder Conference match-up with North

Central.Stryker's Seventh Graders set them-

selves apart from the Lady Eagles early,

and allowed that momentum to carry themthroughout the match. Game 1 saw the

Lady Panthers pull away for a 16-25 vic-

tory, while they earned a convincing 11-25win in game 2 to claim the match.

For the Eighth Grade game, North Cen-tral's girls gave the Panthers a war. Fall-

ing just short in game 1, the Lady Eaglesfound themselves on the wrong side of a

24-26 score. They didn't give up, though,

as they battled throughout game 2. Still,the girls of Stryker were able to slip away

with a 25-19 win, taking the match.

North Central Seventh Graders DefeatDelta, Eighth Grade Battles To Three Sets

(September 29th, 2014)- With bothsquads ghting to three sets, the North

Central Seventh and Eighth Grade teams

showed the Panthers of Delta what theLady Eagles are all about.

Dropping an early set to the Lady Pan-thers, the North Central Eighth Graders

didn't allow the 19-25 defeate to deterthem. They came back in game 2, winning

25-21 to force a game 3. In that decisive

game, Delta proved to have a bit more en-

durance than the Lady Eagles, as NorthCentral lost the set 13-25.

Before that, however, the Seventh

Graders met on the court. In an intenserst set, the Lady Eagles earned a difcult

26-24 win to take a series lead. The Deltagirls came back, however, claiming a 25-

14 victory, necessitating a game 3. That -nal game saw the North Central girls seize

control of the set, securing a 25-15 victory

and the match.

Pettisville Downs North Central(October 2nd, 2014): In Junior High

Buckeye Border Conference action, the

Lady Blackbirds of Pettisville took on theNorth Central Lady Eagles. It was the

Blackbirds who took both matches on the

evening, achieving victory in convincingfashion.

For the North Central Seventh Graders,they just couldn't stay with the Blackbirds.

With a 13-25 loss in game 1, the LadyEagles weren't able to rebound. They lost

game 2 7-25.Pettisville's Eighth Graders performed

just as well as their Seventh Grade team-

mate. After taking the rst set 25-11, theLady Blackbirds rode the momentum of

that win to a 25-9 win in game 2.

Stryker Panther Seventh GradersLose To Tinora Rams

(September 30th, 2014): Taking on

the Rams of Tinora, the Lady Panthers ofStryker were unable to secure the victory

in seventh grade volleyball action.

Falling behind early, the Stryker girls fell

to Tinora in game 1 15-25. The Panthersattempted to rally, but it wasn't enough.

They dropped the second set 18-25.

One To Gibsonburg(September 25th, 2014): Going up against To-

ledo Area Athletic Conference power Gibsonburg,

the Edon Bomber Junior High Football Team was

faced with a difcult challenge.

The youthful Bombers fought hard, and kept the

game close. They couldn't quite keep the Golden

Bears down, however.

Losing the game 16-8, the Edon boys hung

around with a good football team, but just couldn't

pull out the victory.

The loss drops Edon to 1-3 on the season.

Hilltop Cadets TakeDown Edon

(October 2nd, 2014): With 4 rushing touch-

downs, Christian Mckinney guided the Cadets to

victory.Taking on the Bombers of Edon, Hilltop's Junior

High team earned a convincing victory over their

Toledo Area Athletic Conference opponent, 42-20.

In addition to Mckinney's 4 scores, Jacob Cham-

pion also ran the ball into the end zone twice.

Kyle Yates recorded an interception in the game

as well.

Wauseon Eighth GradersWin Tight Game

(October 2nd, 2014): The Indians Junior High Football

Team was able to pull out a victory against the Patriots of

Patrick Henry, winning the game 21-14.

Zeb Smith scored two touchdowns for Wauseon, rush-ing for 24 and 2 yards to do so. Indian quarterback GarrettSmith connected with Trent Armstrong for a 15 yard touch-

down pass as well. Smith also intercepted a pass on the day,

as did teammate Levi Krasula. Joe Shema and ChristianCantu led Wauseon in tackles.

Also of note, punter Aaron Newland booted the ball for61 yards from his own 28 yard line late in the game to help

secure the victory.Wauseon's next game will be against Delta on October 9.
