My greetings to all our beloved students of Mechanical Engineering. Like every year, we are bringing out

our house magazine “YANTHROHUM”. We are very happy that our Global Academy of Technology has

been accredited “A” grade by NAAC. I am also happy to place on records that our M.Tech students have

secured VTU 1st and 2nd Ranks and our B.E student has secured VTU 5th Rank during 2016-17.

Our student teams Green Granades and GoKart have participated in racing competitions, won prizes

and have brought laurels to our department and also to GAT.GAT is signing MOU with M/S Toyota

Kirloskar Motors Pvt Ltd to set up Center of Excellence in Automotive Engineering in our department.

I wish all the outgoing students all the very best in their future endeavours li ke their Job, higher

education or entrepreneurship.

I thank our Honourable Management and Principal for their continuous support and encouragement for

Students/Faculty Achievements Sumukha Koundinya ( 1GA16ME101) & Vineeth Vishnu prasad ( 1GA16ME114) of 3rd semester

won the INTER-COLLEGIATE CLIMATE CHANGE QUIZ- 2017 organized by Divecha centre for

climate change on Thursday 14th September 2017 at IISc Bangalore.

S Rajat(1GA16ME080), Rahul A( 1GA16ME073), Vignesh L H ( 1GA16ME110) of 4th semester won

first prize in English quiz on know your India LITFEST 2017 conducted by III cell on GAT campus.

V. Bharat, Associate Professor, won Best paper for poster presentation in International

conference at NIT Tiruchirapalli.

Sri vishnu Bharadwaj,Vaishali Gowda ,Supritha, Shreyas S of 6th Semester won the

poster presentation contest conducted at GAT campus during November 2017.

KSCST under “Student Project Programme” funded the project titled “ Design and

Fabrication of Low cost Four Rows Paddy(Bhatta) Transplanter used for Agriculture

Purpose” .This project is successfully carried out by Chirag K ,Akash, Bharat R & Gagan

Gowda of 8th Semester under the guidance of Mr. Ghaleppa, Assistant Professor.

Mr. Nikhil M.K., Mr. Prashanth R, Mr. Praveen Bhat P and Mr. Vishwas M, students of 8th

semester secured second prize at the project exhibition- YANTRIX 2018 held at City Engineering

College, Bengaluru. The were awarded with certificates, medals and cash prize of Rs. 5000 (Five

thousand only) for their project titled "Design of Cylindrical Pressure Vessels with Hemispherical

End Closures".

Mechanical students of 8th semester visited Central Manufacturing Technology Institute

for the awareness of students in industry needs & impart knowledge in the field of

manufacturing 0n 27th February, 2018.

Department of Mechanical Engineering organized Industrial visits to IMTEX, Metal Forming

2018 at BIEC for the 4th & 6th Semester Mechanical engineering Students on 3oth day of

January 2018.

Department also arranged visit to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Helicopter division,

Bengaluru to the Students of VIII Semester Mechanical Engineering .

Students of 3rd semester visited Galvano Casting Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru on 12.10. 2017 to

understand the real time process of casting and shop floor control.

WORKSHOPS TRAINING IN HYDRAULICS AND PNEUMATICS

Students at Global Academy Of Technology were given a hands on training experience on

Hydraulics and Pneumatics at Bosch Rexroth, Mysore conducted on 17th & 18th November 2017.

Resource Person was Dr. N. Nagaraja, Professor, GAT.

REFRIGERATION & AIR CONDITIONING

Two day Workshop on Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning was organized on April 3rd and 4th

2018 at Global Academy of Technology by Department of Mechanical Engineering Departme nt

in association with ISHRAE. The objective of the workshop was to make students aware of

industry needs, impart knowledge in the field of Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning which can

be a promising field to work with.

Industrial Visit to VSM Solar Pvt. Ltd., and Central Air Conditioning Plant – SS Hospitals as a part of workshop

MSC Software Simulation in Mechanical Engineering

This workshop is conducted to introduce the participants to the latest development in the field of

numerical analysis for Non-Linear, CFD, Fluid-Structure Interactions, Multi -Body Dynamics

etc. in the field of Research and Development for Aerospace, Automotive and Industrial

Machinery and Consumer electronics. Around 50 participants from various engineering colleges

and industries working in the field of numerical analysis attended the workshop on 16 September

2017. The resource persons were Mr. Bapugowda Patil, General Manager, Quality Control

Division, Toyota Kirloskar Motors, Mr Benat Ebenezer, Channel Sales Manager South India,

MSC Software India, Mr Suraj Kadam, Senior Manager, Technical Altem Technologies & Mr

Sripathy V, Aerospace, CAE Consultant.

Guest lectures conducted at GAT A guest lecture on “Interpretation of Energy Transfer and Coriolis component in Turbo

machines ” by Dr. G R Srinivasa, Former Head, Mechanical Engineering Department,

B.M.S. College Of Engineering & expertise in the field of Turbo Machines, Heat

Transfer and Aero Dynamics is delivered on 23rd August 2017.

A informative talk on “Sustainability Climate Change, Energy & Emissions, Adaptive

Approach” by Mr. R V Simha, Advisor for Airton Consulting Engineers on 27th

September 2017.

A talk by Mr.Parasuraman M , Application Engineer, Axis, Global Automation

Group of companies on “Scope for Mechanical Engineering students in industrial

field of Automation and Robotics” at GAT campus on 19th of February 2018.

An interesting talk on “Basics of Tall Building HVAC design and few case studies” by

Dr. Peter Simmonds, Managing Director,Building & Systems,Analytics LIC was

conducted at GAT campus on 21st day of February 2018.

Mr. Rajashekara H V,Senior Director-Design Institute, IMTMA, BIEC,Bengaluru

interacted effectively on the topic “Opportunities in Manufacturing industry for

Mechanical Engineers” on 26th day of February,2018.
