. If your descen~ from a Loyalist is dirut, you need only use Section A to display the lineage. You need not trace the Patriot lineage.

If your descent from a Loyalist is collateral and tlu Loyalist and Patriot share the same line as either brothen or cousins, trace back to the Patriot ancestor in Section A. Then in Section B, trace the Patriot's line back to the first ancestor he shares in common with the Loyalist ancestor. This an­cestor cannot be more distant than a great-great grandfather. In Section C, trace the line down from that first ancestor to the Loyalist ancestor.

If your descent from a Loyalist is collateral, but the Patriot anastor a11d the Loyalist ancestor are not related, use Section A to trace back to your direct ancestor of the Revolutionary Generation who is collaterally related to the Loyalist. Use Section B to trace the line of the ancestor of the Revolutionary Generation back to the first ancestor he or she shares in common with the Loyalist an­cestor. This ancestor cannot be more distan~ than a great-great grandfather. Use Section C to trace the lir.te down fr~m that first ancestor to the Loyalist ancestor.
