OUR GOD IS ABLE
O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God,
whom thou servest connually,
able to deliver thee from the lions? Daniel 6:20b
The Bible lesson describes some poli6cal evil and skullduggery on the part
of officials in the kingdom of Darius. Daniel, the Hebrew prophet of God and
counselor had been liAed to a posi6on of prominence in the kingdom. The
ci6zens of the country were very jealous and ploed against Daniel to bring his
downfall. Daniel con6nued in his faithfulness to worship God, even when his life
was in danger. Daniel learned that through it all, that our God is able and that
God is a present help in 6me of trouble. The pagan king said, “Daniel, thy God
whom thou servest con6nually, he will deliver thee.” (Daniel 6:16) Daniel
discovered that God is able!
Later the Chris6an believers learned that God is able to supply their
needs. Our God is able to save us from sin. We have great reason to rejoice.
Our God has a wonderful plan for our lives and God is able to provide for us
today and for eternity. Our God is able! Let us commit our lives to Jesus Christ.
Yours in Christ,
Steve

Loving Like Jesus
I have shared with you all the trinity founda6on of FUMC Youth Ministry with
Unity, Faith, and Discipleship. Last week, I passed on some notes from our last Youth
Retreat on being an ‘all in’ Follower of Jesus Christ; this week, we look at what comes
next. A follower of Jesus will do what HE does, say what HE says, and love like HE
loves. Think of the greatest love you can imagine - deep, open, and immeasurable
love...that can only come from Jesus...so if you follow Jesus, simply love like that...HIM.
Jesus goes out of his way to love the unlovable or seemingly unreachable. He
brought the oAen despised Zaccheus out of a tree to form a las6ng rela6onship built
on love. Then, Jesus tells us a story of loving like HIM with the story of the ‘Good
Samaritan’. This street-side saint stops to help, carries the wounded to safety, con6nues
to see to his well being, and even plans to return and confirm his comfort. Jesus tells us
how to love but daily HE shows us HIS love...love like that. I have 4 keys to loving like
Christ: 1. We must truly love Jesus before we can love like Jesus. Then we are simply
passing on what has been poured into our own lives. 2. We must strive to share
uncondi6onal love. Too oAen, we keep a score card for acts of love and subtly require a
quid pro quo to con6nue loving another. Uncondi6onal love is loving like Jesus.
3. Grace and Mercy are catalyst for Christ-like love. We giA love where undeserved and
forgo punishment to love instead...just like Jesus. 4. The final key is very simple and
straighOorward - just put love first. If every prayer, thought, decision, and ac6on starts
and con6nues from a mindset and heart of love then Jesus will be seen in us and shine
through us.
John 15:13 says “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his
life for his friends.” This is the literal love equa6on applied to our pathway to salva6on
through our resurrected Savior. Yes, it would be an honorable display of love for us to
take a bullet for a friend but this scripture does not require literal loss of life...it requires
puPng another first, puPng love first, and loving like Jesus always. Greater love is that
which glorifies God...love like that...love like Jesus.
Blessings, Hardin
The FUMC Youth choir celebrated the start of this new season with a trip to
Chaanooga last Saturday. Our great group of awesome singers challenged the
climbing walls at High Point Gymn. They were “High on Jesus every step of the
way”!! Then we headed towards a place called Spare Time where bowling, laser tag,
arcade games and food were all under the same roof! Youth choir is about
teamwork. Each team working together to create a beau6ful work… together. I am
proud of these youth for stepping out of their comfort zone, on the wall, in the
moment, and more importantly was the encouragement they gave to each other!
That is how Jesus likes to see us. Working together to be beer, encouraging one
another and not giving up on each other. And not giving up on that goal, no maer
how high or hard it looks to be.

A Mercy Minute
When you are driving down the road,
there is a reason that the windshield is much
bigger than the rear view mirror. We must keep
our spiritual focus faithfully forward...but we
also can learn a lot from where we have
been. This Thursday at Mercy Place, I will have
the privilege of sharing the CR Lesson further
describing a Spiritual Inventory. We will take a
look at the mental & physical effects of past
decisions and our rela6onships with family and
church; all things God will use to redirect our
focus and faith into more recovery! Come share
physically distanced fellowship and worship!!
Blessings, Hardin
