The Press Conference will begin at 11 AM at the Warwick Fire Headquarters. Representatives from every union department in Rhode Island are encouraged to attend. Saturday, July 30th will be the Statewide Fire-The-Boot Day. The MDA is honored to have Benjamin McDermott serve as the 2011 Rhode
Island State MDA Goodwill Ambassador.
He lives in Cranston, RI with his parents,
Karyn and Shaun. They were involved in
the 2010 Stride and Ride event and the
2011 Muscle Walk. Benjamin is 4-years-
old and has been diagnosed with Spinal
Muscular atrophy. He enjoys reading,
math and coloring. He also has 3 cats:
Mr. Wiggles, Apollo and Oreo. Benjamin
has been featured on the Rhode Show
and Hasbro Children’s Hospital’s radio-a-
thon. As MDA’s local Goodwill
Ambassador, Benjamin and his parents
represent MDA at various events
throughout the year.
