Tuesday is the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision that made abortion legal in all fifty states. Hundreds of thousands of people marched in Washington D.C. last Friday. On Tuesday night I encourage you to join others at 7pm at the downtown courthouse to pray for an end to abortion. The U.S. Bishops have asked that Tuesday be observed as a day of penance and reconciliation. I also invite you to join other members of our pastoral region for Family Game Night next Saturday at the Fenmont. You can see inside or call St. Julie’s office for more information. There is still time to RSVP. Our gospel recounts the wedding feast at Cana. While I appreciate and enjoy Johnny Cash’s recounting, the Apostle John’s account is more profound. It shows marriage to be a tremendous good and something worth investing in and strengthening – by spouses and by parishes. I have invited instructors to give dance lessons (five lessons – teaching swing, foxtrot, and polka – for a total of $50) at St. Julie’s beginning Feb 21. I hope it is a way for married couples to enjoy time together and for young Catholics to meet other young Catholics. There will also be a marriage retreat at St. Peter’s on March 30-31 (Saturday and Sunday 8am-8pm). The group leading the retreat values the charisms, the gifts of the Spirit, mentioned in today’s second reading. I want to inform you that I will be in Mexico February 8-15. (I will be back for the first swing dance lesson.) Next Sunday is the beginning of Catholic Schools week. Both St. Peter’s and St. Joseph schools have an open house next Sunday to showcase the great work they do. The Catholic Ministries Appeal that was announced this weekend will receive pledges the weekend of Feb 2-3. What a joy to know, love and serve the good God! In Christ,

From Fr. Rob and Fr. Richmond:
Fr. Rob and Fr. Richmond want to spend time and share in the lives of the
people of our pastoral region and we want to start with the parishioners of
St. Peter in Chains parish. We are setting aside one night each week during
February and March to visit your home. We envision being with you from
6:00-8:00pm. We would like to pray a decade of the Rosary or reflect on a
passage of the Bible for 20 minutes and have time to get to know you. Fr.
Richmond will be available to visit on Saturday evenings; Fr. Rob will be
available for a Wednesday or Thursday evening. Schedule with Lisa Stricker,
if you would like one of us to share the evening with you. Since we only have
eight evenings each, you are welcome to invite a neighbor or friend or fellow
parishioner to be with us as well.
Jesus sent out his apostles saying, “Whoever receives you receives me.”
The next Rosary
Altar Society
meeting will be
held February 7th.
