The Growth of Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka from August 2017 - December 2018 Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka is the only organization in Sri Lanka recognized by the International Surfing Association (ISA) with the rights and responsibilities to govern Surfing in all its forms, including Stand Up Paddle (SUP),racing & Surfing, across the Sri Lankan Territory. Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka is affiliated with the Sports Ministry of Sri Lanka under the Gazette notifications 1990/23 & 2079 / 72 and the sports law 1973 / 25 and affiliated with the National Olympic Committee. ISA Advisor and Founder of the SFSL Mr Tim Jones and Mr Hiran Ukwatte the Founder President of the SFSL met the NOC on the 5 th of May 2017 and had discussions of forming the National Governing Body for Surfing since Surfing sport became a discipline in 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. SFSL had the first General meeting and appointed the Working Committee on the 07 th July 2017 and had the first AGM on the 10 th August 2017 and Appointed the Office Bearers and the Ex Co. • President – Mr Hiran Ukwatte - proposed by Thushara and seconded by Channa • Vice Presidents 1. Mr Sandika Thushara – Surfing Sport Events and Competitions - Proposed by Hiran and Seconded by Saman 2. Mr Channa Kumara – Technical Development ,Surfing Sport and Clubs Development - same as above 3. Mr Lalaka Palliyaguruge – International Relations , PR and Media – same as above • Secretary General – Mr Krishantha Ariyasena - proposed by Lalaka and seconded by Aslam • Treasurer - Mr Priyal Kiramage – proposed by Suranga and seconded by Praneeth • Asst Secretary General – Mr Harsha Prasanna – proposed by Thushara Seconded by Priyal • Asst Treasure – Mr Saman Bandara – proposed by Thushara and seconded by Suranga Club Representatives – 2 members from each full member club. 5/Stage5Competitions–CompletedtheFirstNationalSurfingCompetitionSeriesin2018with3stopsstartinginHikkaduwa,KabalanaandArugambayandcrownedtheNationalChampion.SanctionedtheRed Bull International event in 2018 December. Sent the First Sri Lanka National team to India andsecured3rdand4thplacesattheCovelongPointSurfingChampionshipsinChennai.
