It can be seen as part of the online marketing ecosystem, as in many cases growth hackers are usingtechniques such as search engine optimization, website analytics, contentmarketing andA/B testing.

Growth hackers focus on low-cost and innovative alternatives to traditional marketing, e.g. utilizingsocial media and viral marketing instead of buying advertising through more traditional media suchas radio, newspaper, and television.

Growth hacking is particularly important for startups, as it allows for a lean launch that focuses ongrowth first, budgets second.

Welcome to The Growth Hacking List

Over the past decade, I’ve built several blogs and startups, and as I’ve built them, I’ve collected tipsfrom all over the Internet (from books, blogs, articles, videos, podcasts, news, and comments) for thebest growth hacks, each of which has been tested in my projects or with various client projects.

Originally, I typed these growth hacks up in short form and stored them in a private wiki page ona private github repo which is accessible only by myself and a few others. The wiki was divided bysections related to what would become each chapter.

Then I had an idea…

Why not put these into a book so that others can have them readily available too?

The result was the The Growth Hacking List, a collection of all the top growth hacks that I’vetested and implemented and proven to work.

To make it easier to see where everything is, I have divided these growth hacks into 9 handy sections:

1. Before Product / Market Fit When your first get started on an idea, you want to make sureyou have a product or market fit. These growth hacks will help you get a measure of youridea and even get your first customers.

2. Hustling Now that you’ve measured your ideas, you want to start to hustle and continue tobuild on your idea.

5. Activation You’ve got customers, now you want to get them using your brilliant app. This iswhere Activation comes in.

6. Retention deals with keeping eyeballs on your product, you’re gaining customers but youwant to keep them, this is retention.

7. Revenue Get people paying for what you’ve made.8. Referral focuses on growing your company by getting people talking about it.9. Psychology, the psychology of growth hacking.10. Other, growth hacks that may not fit into one single category.

These are the 9 major points of growth hacking, so splitting them into these sections works well andmakes it easier to find what you need quickly.

As I get more growth hacks, then this book will get updated as well, think of this as a living, alwaysgrowing ebook.
