The Grove Primary School Tel: 01225 755242 Absence email: [email protected] 30th June 2017 To report absences for FUNdays Club: 07939368026 Dear Parents / Carers, It has been a very exciting week at The Grove as we have welcomed our new Foundation Stage intake into school for their Induction Sessions. It is always lovely to meet our new families and we look forward to welcoming them all to The Grove in September. Our Year 4 children are very excited as they prepare to set on off their residential trip to Braeside, Devizes from Wednesday until Friday next week. Look out for a letter confirming final trip details which will be sent home on Monday. Also don’t forget to check our Facebook page for regular updates on how the children are getting on and fingers crossed for some sunshine! As you will be aware, our teaching staff have been working very hard in preparation for our ‘Shuffle Up’ session which will take place next Tuesday afternoon. Of course, this year is slightly different to others as all children will be doing ‘Shuffle Up’ session in their new classes. Staff have spent a lot of time considering these arrangements and children have had the opportunity to spend time in different groupings before final decisions have been made. Our Number 1 Programme for September will be ’Pride In Our Class’ and we will do lots of team building activities to make this the smoothest transition possible for all children in our care. Following the ‘Shuffle Up’ session please collect your child from their current class as all children will exit the school in their usual way. If you would like, this is then an opportunity for you to go with your child to their new class to ‘pop in’ and say ‘hello’ to the new class teacher at the end of the day. I would like to congratulate Mr Peter Eggers, Year 2 teacher, who has secured a teaching post at Peasedown St John Primary School from September 2017. We will be very sorry to say goodbye to Mr Eggers but we all wish him every success in his new post. Thank you for everything you have done for The Grove Mr Eggers! We will also be saying a very sad farewell to Mrs Nadine Cartledge, Foundation Stage Teaching Assistant, who will not be returning to her role in September. Mrs Cartledge, and her family, will be relocating to her hometown over the Summer break and she will be missed greatly missed by staff and children alike. Mrs Cartledge has worked at The Grove for almost 13 years and we will be incredibly sad to see her leave us. She has made a huge contribution to The Grove and is incredibly popular with our families and all of the staff. We wish Mrs Cartledge and her family much happiness as they prepare to start their new life together in The Midlands. Following on from this, I am pleased to confirm the following appointments from September 2017: Miss Jessica Harburt, Mr Daniel Murphy, Miss Amy Pearson and Miss Danielle Doyle (Class Teachers). Georgie Hewson, Faye Hayward, and Nicola Bailey, Teaching Assistants. We very much look forward to welcoming them all to our happy team of staff. Finally, please look out for a Parent Consultation letter regarding voluntary contributions in the coming academic year - we welcome your views. It is very important that children are up to date with their vaccinations when they start school as

this is when they come into contact with more children and potential sources of infection. This year

NHS England South are running a campaign aimed at promoting the uptake of childhood vaccinations.

Childhood vaccinations cover the range of vaccinations delivered from around 8 weeks old up to when

a child first goes to school at 5 years old.

There are three good reasons to have your child vaccinated:

Vaccinations are quick, safe and extremely effective

Once your child has been vaccinated against a disease their body can fight it better

If a child isn’t vaccinated, they’re at higher risk of catching, and becoming very ill, from the

illness

Please find below some useful links to the NHS England website.
