Case Study‘Thank you so much, you have had endless patience for me and that has

helped me considerably’

Sandra came to the Gr@nd in April 2013 to get help in creating a CV after being made redundant from the job she had done for 25 years. Due to her age and having done the same job for such a long time Sandra felt nervous about applying for jobs and her self esteem was low.

Over the period of 3 months Sandra has attended Job Club and Job Search almost every week. In order to help Sandra we helped her with

• Confidence Building • CV Writing • Role Play (interview scenarios)• Interview Skills / Techniques

We were delighted when Sandra contacted us to let us know that she had been offered a permanent job at a Residential Care home in Gravesend.

Case Study‘Without the help and assistance from staff at The Gr@nd’s Job Club I don’t know what

would have happened to me and my family, and for that I thank you greatly’

Praim began attending The Job Club in May 2012. He and his family were forced to move to the UK from Montserrat as his only remaining relative had died and was also made redundant.

In Montserrat Praim was a Painter & Decorator by trade. This is the type of work he wanted to carryout in the UK but needed a Valid Construction Skills Certificate Card (CSCS) Card to be able to work on sites etc

Praim speaks fluent English but was unable to read or write in English which was a barrier to him achieving his CSCS card. His confidence was considerably low and he also lacked basic IT Skills and doesn’t have access to the internet

He broke down at Job Club once, expressing his need for employment and income for his family After enquiring at various training providers in the area The Gr@nd was able to enrol Praim on an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) course at Adult Education. After lots of hard work, Praim has developed significantly in his ability to read and write English.

Praim went on to study for the CSCS test. He passed the test and eventually received his CSCS Card through the post. This made him very happy.

Although Praim is still looking for work, his outlook on life has changed dramatically and the CSCS card gives him a much greater opportunity to get into employment.
