MARK 3:7
Jesus and his disciples
withdrew to the sea
….and a great multitude from Galilee
followed him,
also from Judea
and Jerusalem,
Idumea,
from beyond the Jordan
and around Tyre and Sidon.
GALILEE up to 1.5 days travelling.
JUDEA at least three or four days travelling.
JERUSALEM three to four days travelling.
IDUMEA five to six days travelling
EAST JORDAN – around two to three days travelling.
TYRE – around two plus days travelling.
SIDON - around three to four days travelling.
Such a great multitude came
because they heard about
the great things he had been doing.
And he told the disciples to make ready a boat for him to use because of the crowds so that
they would not crush him.
Jesus and his disciples withdrew to the sea and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, also from……….
and when evil spirits saw him
they fell down before him
and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”
He rebuked them strongly so that they would not make him known.
Because he had healed so many
that all who had diseases pressed in around him trying to touch him.
The set of “movie scenes” we could make based on ALL the information
1. Jesus healed a man with a withered hand in the synagogue on the Sabbath.
2. The Pharisees and Herodians had been watching him began to plan how to kill him.
3. Crowds of people who had come from every part of the close and neighbouring regions because they had heard what Jesus was doing were waiting for Jesus to come out of the synagogue
4. Jesus left the synagogue with his disciples and went down to the edge of the Sea of Galilee.
The set of “movie scenes” we could make based on ALL the information
5. People began to press around him trying to touch him so that they could be healed.
6. People possessed by demons fell down when they saw him and yelled out that Jesus was the Son of God.
7. Jesus strongly rebuked the demons to prevent them from making him known.
8. Jesus asked the disciples to get a boat ready for him to use – presumably to end the time of healing and begin a time of teaching.
Take a look at the people groups represented in this story
1. JESUS – representing the nature and purpose
of God.
2. PHARISEES AND HERODIANS representing
the incumbent status and power groups
3. PEOPLE FROM EVERYWHERE representing
people from everywhere who are coming to
Jesus because someone who has known Jesus
has told them what he has done.
Take a look at the people groups represented in this story
4. PEOPLE RECEIVING HEALING people willing to come
to Jesus in the hope that they will be made well.
5. PEOPLE WITH DEMONS people imprisoned by
adversarial evil presence in their lives, but wanting to
get within the sphere of Jesus direct authority so that
the oppression can be lifted.
6. DISCIPLES - learning the ways of the kingdom from
Jesus by following him, watching and listening and
helping him with the work.
PLAN PRACTICE PRAY
1. God wants to heal people who are sick.
2. God wants to set people free who are spiritually oppressed
3. God wants to use me to proclaim his desire to heal and set free.
4. This ministry is only possible through the presence and power of Jesus through the Holy Spirit.
PLAN PRACTICE PRAY
1. Getting from some faith to more faith.
2. Stepping beyond my comfort zone to do things that allow God to have his way (faith).
3. Deep practice.
