Leadership Opportunity | Registration for We Day 2016 is now open! What is

We Day? An annual series of stadium-sized events, We Day brings together

world-renowned speakers and performers—from Malala Yousafzai and Martin Sheen to

Demi Lovato—with tens of thousands of youth to kick-start a year of action through We

Act. You can’t buy a ticket to We Day—you earn it by taking on one local and one

global action.

More than a one-day event, We Day is connected to the year-long We Act program, which offers educational resources and campaigns

to help young people turn the day’s inspiration into sustained action. We Day and We Act are cause inclusive, empowering young

people to find their passion and create the change they want to see. By taking action on one local and one global cause, students are

equipped with the tools to succeed academically, in the workplace and as active citizens. Together, We Day and We Act are a blueprint

for helping the next generation of global citizens.

Last year’s participating schools included Rickover Naval Academy and Marine Leadership Academy. Please visit www.we.org for

more information and for details on how to register your cadets for this great global service opportunity.

Save the Date | This fall’s Principal for a Day event will

take place on Tuesday, October 27. The Principal for a Day

initiative is an opportunity for the Network and the

academies to showcase the cadets, staff, and leadership

initiatives in and out of the schools to community

stakeholders. This past spring, we had 16 leaders across

diverse industries participate in the event. All were

impressed by the leadership and confidence of our cadets.

Our goal is to expose our academies to leaders in the

community who can serve as advocates and champions for

our schools. We need to ensure people know about the

great leadership development happening in our academies

and how that benefits our communities.

Congratulations | The Golden Bugle would like to congratulate

Ms. Carol Moran, teacher at Chicago Military Academy at Bronzeville

for winning the “Guest Contributor of the Year” award! Ms. Moran

consistently submitted materials to the Golden Bugle and kept our

Service Leadership Programs Community abreast of the great things

her cadets were doing in and out of the classroom. We appreciate the

dedication she demonstrates towards highlighting cadets at her

academy. We look forward to another year of fruitful submissions.

If your cadets are doing great things in or out of the classroom, we

encourage you to submit a small write-up to highlight their

accomplishments. They can be personal or JROTC related; we know

our cadets are well-rounded. Let’s highlight them in all their

accomplishments. Submission Link: www.cps.edu/theGoldenBugle
