What is the Global Learning Programme?
The GLP is a ground-breaking new programme which will create a national network of like-minded schools, committed to equipping their students to succeed in a globalised world by helping them to deliver effective teaching and learning about international development and global issues at Key Stages 2 and 3

Aims of the GLP
Six aims:• To help young people to understand their role in a
globally-interdependent world and to explore strategies by which they can make it more just and sustainable
• To familiarise them with the concepts of interdependence, development, globalisation and sustainability

• To move them from a charity mentality to a social justice mentality
• To stimulate critical thinking about global issues both at whole school and at student level
• To promote greater awareness of poverty and sustainability
• To enable schools to explore alternative models of development and sustainability in the classroom.

A global learning school has a vision to develop global learning student outcomes across the school. This vision is embedded through a planned process, involving staff, pupils, governors and the wider community in global activities.

GLP Model: Expert Centres and Partner Schools

Programme model• Primary, secondary and special Expert
Centres (ECs) are funded to act as hubs for up to 23 partner schools• ECs are funded to operate for four
terms on a rolling basis to maximise geographical coverage over the 5 years• Support provided by team of School
Network Manager, 4 National Leaders and 17 Local Advisors

Programme model: EC Support • ECs funded for up to 18 days of cover over 4 terms• ECs will provide one support session (probably
twilight) per half term e.g.• Welcome/induction• Embedding the GLP across the curriculum• Successful strategies from other schools
• Local Advisors will run the support session with the GLP Coordinator who will lead the programme in each Expert Centre• We anticipate that GLP coordinators in Expert Centres will aspire to Lead Practitioner status

Programme model: e-credits• Partner schools access e-credits with a cash
value of up to £500 to buy CPD from training providers• Approved courses featured on the GLP website• Schools select their courses, complete their
contact details and click on the ‘book this course’ button• Course providers then liaise directly with schools
