    THE TEXT

The title presented here as in originalFrench text translates the same way as TheGiants. The titles uses a sans font in capitalletters, this usually uncommon in poster asthe sans serif fonts are only what would bein capitals. THE NARRATIVE In presenting the narrative of the film through

the poster, the clues to this are of thecharacters shown in the image, three youngboys. Two of them are positioned higher thananother, suggesting that possibly the theme of

age is an issue within the film. The termgiants that can refer to them as powerful or

to adults, with the use of the text above themcould connote adults always being in a stateof dominance above these boys. The

expression used seem show a longing asthey appear to be on a journey in search forsomething or nothing and this is through theuse of the boat as a prop.

    THE CAMERA DISTANCE

The camera distance presented inthe poster was of one long shot ofthe three boys on a boat. Usuallythe use of the long shot is to set the

scene and to create a sense of thewhole story for the audience of thethree boys alone, on a journey, possibly in search for something. The use of the long shot alsohighlights the isolation of thecharacters, whilst in many casesthis may be applicable when onlyone character is shown, this shotshows the isolation of all the boysfrom the outer world and protection

    and guidance from adults.

The layout of the poster isportrait in shape, which allowsfor the specific signified use ofthe image.

The position of the text abovethe boys, in the sky in large, capitalized text, connotes asense of an unreachable dreamor desire to be these successful

giants, able and independentbeings. It could also connotegiants being adults that whilst

they are not there as parents, adults still have dominance over
