CHARACTERS:

Hiram B. Otis is the father of tour children and husband of Lucrecia R Tappan. Mr Otis was a salesman from America. He give a lot of importance at the money. He normally is very calm, but he is be able to be very protector with his family in extremes situations

Simon is the ghost and the protagonist of this book, he lives very sorry of the murdered of his wife, a cause of it he has to wander around the house until someone save his soul. He is 300 years old

Washington Otis is the older children in the house, he is a salesman like his father, he is very joker with the unlucky ghost normally helped by the twins

Virginia Otis is another important character she is the daughter of the Otis, she is the responsible of save the ghost’s soul. She is a very pretty girl and she is very understanding and good with the ghost.

Mistress Umney is the housekeeper, she is very helpful and obedient but she is afraid with the ghost.

Lord Canterville, is the last owner of the house. He is a very sincere man to have said the problem with the ghost to the Otis family.

The duke, he is the lover of Virginia, he don’t appears a lot in the book but he seemed a very good person

The twins are the youngest children in the house and the most unruly too, they are all the time playing laughing and making heavy jokes to the ghost.

SUMMARY OF THE BOOK.

The Otis are a family that decides to buy an old castle in Britain property o lord Canterville. The family is composed by the character before appointed.

Lord Canterville the last owner of the castle advise them of the Ghost, who has been wandering around the house for 300 years . The “terrible” Ghost’s name is Simon Canterville, and he is condemned to roam the house since someone save his soul but he is very sorry for has killed his wife

However the Otis are not frightened of the ghost , and immediately the twins and Washington make the ghost a kind of toy, the ghost is despaired because he can’t scare the family. Only Virginia tries to help him to save his soul.

PERSONAL OPINION I have really likedthis book, I have read before others books by Oscar Wilde such as the “Rebellion in the Farm” or even the “ghost of Canterville” in Spanish when I was I child (however I didn’t remember very good). But I have enjoyed a lot this book because is very easy to read and the stories of the unlucky ghost are very funny
