The Govern announced in France and Italy the document, signed by 61 organisations, to promote the Action Plan for Energy Renovation of Buildings in Catalonia. The purpose of the Plan is to increase energy efficiency and to meet the criteria established by the European Union. The Secretary of Housing and Urban Improvement, Mr Carles Sala, and the coordinator of the European Project Marie a Catalonia, Mr Xavier Martin, took part today in Trieste (Italy) in the Technical Seminar on "Energy efficiency in buildings: an opportunity for public and private agents" to present the project Marie (Rethinking the Mediterranean buildings to improve their energy efficiency) and its realisation in the Catalan Strategy for energy renovation of buildings. The Catalan delegation will meet this afternoon the Minister of Environment and Energy of the FVG (Friuli Venezia Giulia) Autonomous Region, Ms Sara Vito, an initiative that is part of the government's foreign affairs to find consensus on the application of criteria and strategies for energy efficiency in residential buildings. Lauds to the Catalan Government’s work. Yesterday, in Paris, the Secretary of Housing presented the main lines of the Catalan Strategy for energy renewal of buildings, signed past November 19 th by 61 organisations and institutions of the Catalan public and private sector, thus representing more than 100 public institutions and more than 4.000 private companies. The event was held under the Rencontres Effinergie frame, a partnership led by the President of the Rhône-Alpes Region, Mr Jean- Queyranne Jak, who led the conference, and which closed the French Minister of Housing, Ms Cécile Duflot. The Minister congratulated and praised especially the work done in Catalonia between the public and private sectors for the development of the Catalan Strategy, a collaboration that was born under a first agreement signed by twenty-five organisations and institutions last May, 2013 at the CONSTRUMAT

trade show, and which, over time, has added up to more than 60 organisations in signing the agreement.

The aim of the talks of the Generalitat in both Paris and Trieste is enforce the nine European regions involved in the project Marie (mainly in France and Italy) to reach a consensus to implement the October 2012 European Directive on energy efficiency in public and private buildings. The project is part of the Marie MED (Mediterranean Europe) program, which groups several measures to renew and improve the energy condition, habitability and comfort of public and private buildings.
