The General

• There was a decorated general witha heart of gold, that likened him toall the stories he toldof past battles, won and lost, andlegends of old a seasoned veteran inhis own time

• On the battlefield, he gainedrespectful fame with many medalsof bravery and stripes to his namehe grew a beard as soon as he couldto cover the scars on his faceand always urged his men on

• but on the eve of a great battlewith the infantry in dreamthe old general tossed in his sleepAnd wrestled with its meaninghe awoke from the nightto tell what he had seenand walked slowly out of his tent

• all the men held tall with theirchests in the air, with the courage intheir blood and a fire in their stare

it was a gray morning and they allwondered how they would faretill the old general told them to go home

• But the men stood fast with theirguns on their shoulders not knowingwhat to do with the contradicting ordersthe general said he would do his ownduty but would extend it no furtherthe men could go as they pleased

• not a man moved, their eyes gazedstraight ahead till one by one theystepped back and not a word was saidand the old general was left with hisown words echoing in his headhe then prepared to fight

The Dispatch

Back

The dispatch has three members in their band, Brad Corrigan, Pete Heimbold and Chad Urmston. They have been performing, writing, and recording since 1995. They started off in Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. They have a reggae and funk feel to their music. They first started spreading there music by going to colleges and academies through the Northeast. Then they started to spread to the east coast and all over and soon everyone started loving the dispatch. They have released four albums; all of these are on their own label, Bomber recorders. In July 2005 The Dispatch came out with a movie called The Last Dispatch this was their final 12 days as a band and it tells the story of how they became a band. The band got back together in 2007 and went on another tour.

• There were many great battles during WWII some of which were the Battle of Normandy, Battle of Atlantic, Battle of Britain, Battle of Midway, Battle of El Alamein, and the Battle of Iwo Jima
