10-13 OctoberChristina Tanou and Antigoni Tsiakka represent Cyprus in the83rd International Session of the European Youth Parliamentheld in Laax Switzerland.

11 OctoberForm 1 students are given a guided tour around the SchoolLibrary and are provided with important information regardingthe facilities and the library electronic system.

12 OctoberThe Mathematics Department organises an informalafternoon gathering for all Maths School students and theirparents.

12 OctoberThe members of the Current Affairs Club attend thepresentation “Syria: A Civilisation in peril”, by Anna Marangou.The presentation is about the civilisation of Syria and how thewar destroyed some of the greatest historical monuments inthe world.

12 OctoberThe Careers Department organises a presentation forstudents interested in studying Engineering. During thelecture, guest speakers discuss the elds of engineering, howengineering can be applied in real life, paths to engineeringand admission requirements.

13 OctoberThe Volunteers and the Adventure Clubs arrange for the saleof traditional food during breaks. All proceeds are donated tofamilies in need.

13 OctoberStudents from Forms 1 to 7 participate in the annual maths-related Treasure Hunt organised by the MathematicsDepartment. Students in groups of 3-5 search for hiddenwords, locations and places using a series of clues.

14 OctoberThe Public Relations Student Society participates in thefashion exhibition “Here Come the Brides”, an event organisedunder the auspices of Mrs Andri Anastasiadou and Mrs MeralAkinci. The exhibition presents the history and developmentof wedding dresses in Cyprus.

15 OctoberThe members of the Greek Reading Club watch a theatricalperformance of Alki Zei’s “Petros’ War” (Ο Μεγάλος Περίπατοςτου Πέτρου). Ms Zei is present at the performance and talksto the students about her work.

17 OctoberThe students of the Maths School present their projects on“Great Mathematicians” and “The History of Numbers”.

18 OctoberThe students of Forms 6 and 7 attend a lecture on thesigni cance of Blood Donation.

19 OctoberThe Maths Club organises a presentation on “HowComputers Calculate”. The students learn how to representtext in computers, telecommunications equipment, and otherdevices via the ASCII CODE.

19 OctoberForm 1 students attend a seminar on study skills and learningmethods, organised by the School Library.

19 OctoberThe GCS co-organises with KISA, and hosts, the footballtournament ‘Score Against Racism’. More than 150 childrentake part in the tournament, including children of refugees andmigrants as well as teenagers and adult refugees/migrants.The event is sponsored by the GCS and the FARE Networkand takes place within the framework of “Football PeopleAction Weeks’’ (6 – 20 October), and it is supported by thefootball academies of the G C School of Careers, APOEL,Omonoia Nicosia, Thoi Lakatamias and Galaxy FC.

21 OctoberChristoforos Triantafyllou, Maria Avraam, Nicolina Metaxaand Athina Tsangaridou (all of Form 7) participate in a debateon Road Safety organised by REACTION in cooperation withthe Ministry of Education & Culture.

22 OctoberChristoforos Triantafyllou of Form 7 represents Cyprus in theInternational EYP Academic Forum “Power Shifts - Re ectingEurope’s Energy”, held in Poland.

24 OctoberThe School is informed that Klitos Philippides and AndreaSoteriou (both of Form 3) are selected to be members of theCyprus Youth Parliament 2016-17.

24 OctoberStudents of Forms 6 and 7 donate blood at the Blood DonationCentre in Engomi.

26 OctoberThe Careers Department organises a presentation to studentsinterested in studying Law. The topics discussed include the elds of law, the different paths and career prospects, the skillsneeded to be a successful lawyer and the law profession inCyprus. Guest Speaker: Mr George Z. Georgiou, ManagingPartner of George Z. Georgiou & Associates LLC.
