As September arrives marking the start of peak, Gem prepares for thebusiest time of the year with a host of promotions, offers and newproducts for retail.

Hi Rob, you’re now 3 months into your new positionas Key Account Manager for Gem, what are yourthoughts so far? It’s been Interesting, challenging and exciting all at thesame time. Different to what I was doing before but agreat chance to progress within Gem and to gainexperience dealing with a number of different retailers and product groups.

Can you tell us more about what your role entails? Part of my role is to give increased focus to existing keyaccounts, look for new opportunities with them and growrelationships. Alongside this, one of the exciting elementsof my role will be reaching out and engaging with newcustomers to Gem.

What has been the highlight of your career with Gem? There have been a few! I’ve been lucky to be involved with the launch of the Xbox 360, countless AAA releasesand good old fashioned spiv days.

Get ready for one of the biggest entertainment launches of all-time, as the releaseof Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V draws ever closer.

Due to hit the shelves on September 17th, the long-awaited follow-up to 2008's 25-millionselling classic promises to be staggering in ambition and scope.

Set in the sprawling metropolis of Los Santos, the game doesn't just have one central starto control but three: Former street gangster Franklin, professional ex-con Michael, andviolent maniac Trevor.

Players will be able to instantly zoom out to a stunning overhead view of the game world and switch between each of the three protagonists on-the-fly and explore the vast openworld.

Each has their own unique abilities and these are utilised during the many in-game missions.

Franklin, for example, can slow down time while he's driving, while Michael has thesame ability while engaged in gunfights. Melee specialist Trevor, can wade into punch-ups and take less damage while meting out extra damage to opponents.

Almost a year on from the launch of the distinguished2012 chartbuster Assassin’s Creed III, the series willmake its return in November with Assassin's Creed

IV: Black Flag.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Black Flag is the sixthmajor installment in a franchise that has already sold over55 million units.

Divided into two parts in typical Assassin's Creed fashion,the story has a historical setting alongside one in thepresent day, with the events of each intertwining andinfluencing one another.

The historical setting will take players to exotic cities, lush tropical jungles and the vast seas of the Caribbeanduring the Golden Age of Piracy, stepping into the boots of a notorious British pirate and privateer named Edward Kenway.

A member of the Assassin Order, Kenway is also thegrandfather of last year’s protagonist, Connor.

Praised naval tech showcased in the third game takes a pivotal role in Black Flag as Kenway commands his ownship, the Jackdaw.

This provides a central hub for the player to set sail andexplore tropical islands, hidden coves, jungles and ancient ruins.

To help Kenway buckle down the hatches, man the crow’snest and scrub the decks, a form of the recruitment system introduced in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood willreturn and can be used to recruit a crew to keep theJackdaw shipshape.

A new element to the game is the spyglass. Players canuse this tool to examine details of distant ships, thedangers they possess, their strengths, and the cargo andloot they carry. Players can then prepare a strategy toengage board and capture passing ships.

Plunder found or taken from defeated foes can then beused to upgrade the Jackdaw enabling players to take ontougher opponents.

Another new component is the underwater element,allowing players to explore sunken shipwrecks to discoverhidden booty.

Delivering a less constrained experience than the previoustitle, the world quickly opens up allowing the player toexplore both land and ship based adventures across anumber of Caribbean islands.

There are 50 locations to explore with 3 main cities in thegame: Havana which is controlled by the Spanish, Kingstonby the English, and Nassau by pirates.

The captivating and strong historical setting avoids theobvious clichés but still includes some colourful tales froma cast of real characters from the era, such as Anne Bonny,Blackbeard, Calico Jack, and Charles Vane.

Multiplayer is also making a return, with new settings andmodes. However it will only be land-based.
