The future of ICTs:
HUAWEI Y EOIA travel from the
past to the future of driving.
Created by:Miguel González de Sande
A look to the past.
In the not so far past, the cars had a completely analogic structure.
A few years after the first car, the “electronic” had woken up.
The first electronic elements created to help the driver have appeared.
• The cars start having sensors in order to measure some properties of the environment (e.g. outside temperature) and the car performance ( e.g. consumption, average speed…).
A look to the
present.
Just a little after, cars with externals sensors appeared. This new technology allows for some firms to walk the first step into automated cars, where the car helps the driver in the parking process by makeing a sound when the car aproach an obstacle, even in places the driver cant see.
A bit later this technology evolves and now the car don’t helps in the process but instead can almost park itself after the push of a button. This new models can manage the Wheel and let the know when to press a pedal.
The technology can evolve even more!!
With the use of sensors, cameras, radars… the car can get close to the final objective:
Total autonomy of the car.
It’s already being implemented. Some firms have their prototypes on the streets.
The technology have reached a point where the car can:
Keep the trail.Adapt and maintain the
speed according to the traffic.
A look into the future.
This can be improved in many ways. At the moment there are two main research directions:
Add a better GPS + road maps, so the car know exactly where it is and how to get where you want to go.
Create a virtual network where all the cars are connected to
each other.
The most promising research going on at the moment revolves around the idea of allowing cars to talk between each other in real time, and with the road in a network “CLOUD”.
This would help to avoid accidents caused by: Lack of visibility (sharp bends, thick fog…). The state of the road ( traffic jams, poor
road conditions…)It can be also used to solve parking
problems, as well as many other advantages.
Severe traffic accidents are unfortunately a serious matter. Unfortunately car accident happens frequently.
Statistics show that most (over 90%) happen caused by human error.
In the future with “intelligent cars” all of this will be avoided.
Welcome to the future.
